In most cities around the world, one can find a locksmith that specialises in opening safes. LibreOffice 3.4.4 and lower uses Blowfish algorithm; LibreOffice 3.4.5 and higher uses AES-256; As far as I know, the only way to decrypt AES-256, when the password is unknown, is brute force. Maybe the user pulled that stunt of hand-editing "protected = true". No password being used. If that is the case, then the fix is another hand edit. It is a stupid hack, that fails far more often that it works, but when it works Probably its best use, is as an April Fools Day prank. jonathon - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org

Hi, Beware, you're not subscribed to the list, you've missed some other replies (you can check them in the web-based mail archives however). But basically, the message is: you're out of luck. What would be the point of a password if it were that simple to crack it? The only way is to try brute force cracking but it will take you too much time I guess. If you can't try the multiple possibilities you can remember, then consider your file lost. Hagar Le 24/03/2019 à 22:18, Marilyn LeBaron a écrit : How do I open a document I forgot the password to? It will not let me make a new copy. The instructions are to open the document and save a copy of it to begin editing it. But, I cannot do that the document will not open without a password. I cannot save a new copy it has to be open before I can save and rename it. How do I get the password off? Who do I go to for help. Re: Deleting OpenOffice icon off of Mac desktop
Yes, I am suggesting a Force Quit for Open Office. Please don't respond to me personally, but to the users@openoffice.apache.org list. Other people may be able to offer assistance, critique my suggestion, etc. Thank you.
