Re: OpenOffice locked up

2023-12-09 Thread Dick Groskamp
Try to renew your userprofile.
Close OpenOffice and the Quickstarter (if enabled)

Go to C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\OpenOffice\4
There is a folder called user. Rename that folder to something else, for
instance "user_old"

Go back and restart OpenOffice. It will make a new folder user.
This method often solves strange problems :-)

Re: Disappearing Toolbar

2022-05-18 Thread Dick Groskamp
Confirmed. Win 10 and AOO 4.1.12 (Dutch)

Seems toggling with "Find" also instantiates some toggling with "Format"
After "Find" is disappeared, trying to re-instantiate with View - Toolbars
makes "Format" disappear.
Choosing "Format" in View - Toolbars brings "Find" back, but not "Format"
Seems to be some unknown connection to these.

Re: Open Office Icon in Taskbar

2022-05-08 Thread Dick Groskamp
David,

do you have a shortcut on the Desktop with the Seagulls logo (round blue icon
with 2 white flying forms)?
If so you can pin that shortcut to the taskbar. It will show the Seagulls (at
least at my Desktop)

Otherwise you might try to create a new shortcut on the Desktop and then change
the icon
to the Seagulls logo.

The default full installation at my machine did indeed make a white rectangular
icon on my Desktop. I changed it to the Seagulls logo and now all is well :-)

Installing the new version should do that for you. No need to uninstall 4.1.7 (
unless you have to make space for it to install, but that will also be
monitored by the new install)

Try if installing the new version will run. It should take over your settings
for the old installed version.

It is there.

File -> New -> Labels.
In the dialog that opens ( called Labels) there is a section Brand with a
dropdown next to it.
Brand is defaulted to Avery A4, but you need Avery Letter Size (which is two
choices below Avery A4).

Click the small triangle after Avery A4 and select Avery Letter Size.
Now, in the dropdown Type (below Avery Letter Size) scroll down to label L5160
Address

The Recent files list will be rebuilt when you open your files.
You could open your files from the directory they are stored in and
subsequently close them to show up again.

In Windows, click Start. Type *.odt (or *.od? for text, spreadsheets etc) in
the Search box. Click See more results. Click Date Modified column heading. You

It should however bring you to the site of Sourceforge to download.

You can download directly from here:
https://www.openoffice.org/nl/download/index.html
That will take you to the download on Sourceforge. It is know that sometimes
that site freezes and nothing happens. Hitting F5 or clicking the Refresh

Since AOo is only a 32bit application there is no 64bit.

Denise,
sorry to hear it ain't working anymore.

To correctly identify what is going wrong we should need the original file to
assess what exactly is going wrong.
(Make sure you remove any confidential information)
We also need a good description of what doesn't work anymore, but used to work.

Best to ask your question/problem on https://forum.openoffice.org/en because
this list strips attachments. On the forum you can attach .odt files up to
128Kb. Some of the volunteers there are real magicians with textfiles.

You should be able to download 4.1.9 from here:

Have a look at

see if
any of that palettes can help you out.

On my Windows the files for the palettes (with the extension .soc) are in
D://AppData/Roaming/OpenOffice/4/user/config

If you have your own palette back it might be useful to copy it as standard.soc.

Re: Default Value field in a table formatted to Date

For Base:

In dialog Execute SQL:

ALTER TABLE "Customers" ALTER COLUMN "Date" DATE DEFAULT CURRENT_DATE; //full
declaration with type and default

OR

ALTER TABLE "Customers" ALTER COLUMN "Date" SET DEFAULT CURRENT_DATE; // modify
the default only

Hans,

Rob,

select the items in the list you want to sort.

Then Options > Sort

Make sure Rows is selected in the dialog, section Direction.
Other options could stay as they are ( Key 1 Column = 1 and Type key =
Alphanumeric)

That sorts your list to:
AppleJack & Peel
Christmas Splendor
Cinnamon
Fireside
FreshCut Christmas Tree
Hillbilly Mistletoe
Smell of Christmas
Sugared Spruce
Vanilla Bean
Vanilla Bean Noel

At least at my setup

RE: mail merge not working

2020-07-24 Thread Dick Groskamp
Jonathan,

the problem seems to be the two columns A and B which are hidden and empty !.
They contain no data and seem to confuse AOO Base.

Show the two columns again and fill one of them with an incrementing ID
Remove (if possible, the remaining empty column from the spreadsheet)

No need to "convert" to .odb if you choose the option "Connect to existing
database"
Select "Spreadsheet" in the dropdown, which opens a fileselector, so you can
browse to your spreadsheet.

After naming the new database it should work and you should see the table Sheet1
