Hello,

I want to convert each A4 page of text into two A5 pages so I can print a
booklet. How do I go about that? I have XP home SP3.

I see under Format: Flip, but 'Flip vertically' 'Flip Horizontally' are
disabled.

Jim
Not sure if this is sufficient or will achieve exactly what you want. Also
assuming you don't have to many page styles.

1. Make a copy of your document in case this procedure messes it up ;-)
2. Go to FormatStyles and Formatting (or hit F11)
3. At the top left of the panel that opens there are 5 icons. Hover the
mouse of the 4th. It should say Page Styles (the icon looks a bit like a
page).

4 Click that icon to select the list of currently defined page styles.
5. Right click the style named Default.
6. Click Modify.
7. Select the Page tab.
8. Under Format (top left) choose A5 from the drop down list.
9. Click OK and then back out of the menu tree.
10. Save the result.

If you want, at step 8 you can also alter the orientation from Portrait to
Landscape.

You may need to do some minor rearranging to weed out orphan paragraphs
and/or tables that are now split in inconvenient places.

If you have used more than one style, I think you need to do the above for
each one; pain in the posterior but ...

I don't know if there's a better way. Perhaps someone will let us know.
Please.

the cells it has a range like this- A1:G8

Erm. Sorry, but where you live do months have 56 days?

I think you should have removed my name above, since you removed
everything I wrote. Someone would maybe think that I wrote the text above,
otherwise. Not a big deal, I just wanted to point out that I didn't write
anything of the above, as far as I can see.

Thanks.

Not afaik within OOo. IMBW.

However, you might consider saving the output as a postscript file, then
using pstops or psnup to reposition the pages.

Only reply if you know how to do it.

Hmmmph. That comes over as somewhat lacking in grace. Good manners do
not go amiss, even on a mailing list.

File - Page Preview - Format Page
Select the Sheet tab
Change Scaling Mode to: Fit print range(s) to width/height
Set the width and height to 1

You may want to go to the Page tab and select the Landscape Orientation
radio button.

You may want to expand the margins to get the output as large as possible.

Select the area you want to print in one page, then Format - Print
Ranges - Define.

[users] command line printing

2011-02-19 Thread Gregory P. Ennis
Everyone,

I am trying to print some *.doc files from the command line with
openoffice 3.1.1 000310m19 (Build:9420) on centos 5.5 using cups as the
print server.

I can open the file from the command line with open office and then
print it manually from the gui, but when I open the file and print from
command line I am not getting anything.

The commands that I have used are the following :

/usr/bin/openoffice.org -pt lpt4 /mnt/lp/document.doc
-terminate_after_init

/usr/bin/openoffice.org -pt lpt4 -p /mnt/lp/document.doc
-terminate_after_init

/usr/bin/openoffice.org -headless -pt lpt4 -p /mnt/lp/document.doc
-terminate_after_init

/usr/bin/openoffice.org -headless -pt lpt4 -p /mnt/lp/document.doc
-terminate_after_init

In each of these cases the command line finishes back to the # prompt,
but nothing prints on lpt4. Has anyone tried to use the command line
options for openoffice and have the syntax as to how it works.

I tried to create a macro and use it from the command line as well.

openoffice.org -invisible /mnt/lp/document.doc
macro:///Standard.Module1.print_lpt4

The above command starts openoffice in the gui; this command
automatically prints the document to lpt4 and openoffice remains open
until it is closed by the user.

openoffice.org -invisible /mnt/lp/document.doc
macro:///Standard.Module1.print_lpt4 -terminate_after_init

The above command executes but nothing happens on the printer and the
command line prompt is returned.

The closest I have come to success is :
openoffice.org -minimized -headless document.doc
macro:///Standard.Module1.print_lpt4
macro:///Standard.Module1.end_of_print

However the above command requires the X11 to work and will not work in
a script in the background.

I had posted this request for help on the CentosUsers list at first but
was advised to bring the request here.

Is this problem a known bug? Is there a work around for it? I sure
need to be able to accomplish printing *.doc files from a perl script.

Thanks much for any assistance you can give me.

Format → Page… → Sheet (or whatever it says, ”Tabell” in Swedish anyway –
the last tab)

or
Preview → Page format → Sheet

Ok, do you mind if I use this thread to tell a funny story…?

Additional information :

I tried using the following command on a Fedora14 system which worked
perfectly :

openoffice.org -pt lpt4 document.doc

On Fedora14 the openoffice version is 3.3.0 000330m20 (Build:9567)

Looks like there is a Bug in 3.1.1

The OO Bug forums are down today so I was not able to enter this.
