Re: [Users] IPv6, openVZ7, CentOS7

2022-12-15 Thread Arjit Chaudhary
Hi,
It could be in br0 if you are bridging enp3s0f0 and/or enp3s0f1

Basically the interface which lists as UP and with the IPv4 information etc
should be the right one in my experience.

But do back-up original configuration files on the system, before editing
just incase something goes wrong you can just copy them back and restart
networking.

Is your interface name different by chance?

Can you check,

for the actual interface name and then update that interface configuration
for the IPv6.

Re: [Users] IPv6, openVZ7, CentOS7

2022-12-14 Thread Arjit Chaudhary
(In my experience)

Does the host-node have working IPv6 configured on it? If yes,

Then you can just do,

vzctl set --ipadd -- save

and the container too will have working IPv6.

If the host-node does not have working IPv6, then you can just configure
any address of the IPv6 range on the host-node

2022-06-26 Thread Arjit Chaudhary
Hello,
I was looking at the template list https://src.openvz.org/projects/OVZT and
noticed that rockylinux-8-x86_64-ez is listed there now, I tried installing
this RockyLinux 8 template too, but it does not install,

Is the command different to install the package?

[Users] VCMMD not starting on boot

2021-07-05 Thread Arjit Chaudhary
Hello,

in the last few days I ran into an issue with VCMMD on OpenVZ 7 after a

BUT if I issue the command

and then

VCMMD starts and runs fine,

Currently I am on,
[root@de48 ~]# uname -r

The config file is quite basic too,

any idea / hint what could be causing this issue?

Re: [Users] Caching CentOS 6 Template on OpenVZ 7

2020-12-21 Thread Arjit Chaudhary
That could just would actually, but was trying to see if it worked out with
the vault repo incase I have to re-sync it sometime in the future on
another VZ server,

For example, Debian 7 had the same issue, but I edit
url.map under /vz/template/conf/vztt to,

$DEB_SERVER http://archive.debian.org

and that allows me to cache the template.

Re: [Users] add centos8 container template to openvz7

2020-01-06 Thread Arjit Chaudhary
I think yum install centos-8-x86_64-ez should have worked in this case,
as it is listed/available in the release repository (ie, non-factory
repository) to install the template

and then vzpkg create cache centos-8 to cache the template

Re: [Users] Repairing a ploop image

2020-01-03 Thread Arjit Chaudhary
So the fix for this involves, scp the private folder + image
(root.hdd/hdds, DiskDescriptor.xml etc) to a OpenVZ 6 based node

Then running ploop balloon discard,
ploop balloon discard --automount /vz/private
/$CT/root.hdd/DiskDescriptor.xml

Then scp the image back to the OpenVZ 7 based node into a temporary folder
Recreate the CT, adjust the resources (disk etc)
mv the root.hdd/root.hdds file to overwrite the existing root.hdds file
that got created by the recreate step

so far so good.

The containers are around 1GB - 2GB RAM allocation with 2 - 4G swap each
(Swap = 2x RAM)

Re: [Users] Difference between swap and swappages?

2019-12-10 Thread Arjit Chaudhary
Hi,
Aha so they're the same thing, was just curious as I've been noticing a bit
of odd behavior on OpenVZ 7 host-nodes where the node has 128G RAM, around
30G used and it's swapping out 12G still instead of using the RAM as vSwap.
Swappiness is set to 10 as well.

I'm using the following commands to build the container if that help,

/usr/sbin/vzctl create $VMID --ostemplate $DISTRO
/usr/sbin/vzctl set $VMID --ipadd $VPS_IP --save
/usr/sbin/vzctl set $VMID --hostname vps.server.com --save
/usr/sbin/vzctl set $VMID --nameserver 8.8.8.8 --save
/usr/sbin/vzctl set $VMID --diskspace
$DISK_SPACE$DISK_VARIABLE:$DISK_SPACE$DISK_VARIABLE --save
/usr/sbin/vzctl set $VMID --ram $RAM$RAM_VARIABLE --swappages
$SWAP$SWAP_VARIABLE --save

[Users] Difference between swap and swappages?

2019-12-10 Thread Arjit Chaudhary
Hi,
Is there any difference between setting vSwap on the OpenVZ 7 based
virtual machine?

vzctl set $VMID --ram $RAM --swap $SWAP --save

vs

vzctl set $VMID --ram $RAM --swappages $SWAP --save

does --swap end up using real swap on the host-node

and

--swappages use the RAM as swap (ie, vswap) ?

or are both the same ?

[Users] Enabling VNC Access to Containers

2019-11-20 Thread Arjit Chaudhary
Hi,
I came across this feature earlier today,
https://docs.openvz.org/openvz_users_guide.webhelp/_enabling_vnc_access_to_containers.html

It seems to be a very good option for providing users with a
rescue/out-of-band console option in case they get locked out via a
firewall setting etc

I tried configuring it on a VPS (container) but it seems to error no matter
what option is used,

with auto mode,

[root@dev ~]# prlctl set 100 --vnc-mode auto --vnc-port 6501 --vnc-passwd
test123
Configure VNC: Remote display: mode=auto port=6501

Unable to commit CT configuration: Unable to start the VNC server in this
virtual machine. Change the VNC server port number in the virtual machine
configuration and try again. If the problem persists, contact the Virtuozzo
support team for assistance.
Failed to configure the virtual machine.

and with manual mode as well,

[root@dev ~]# prlctl set 100 --vnc-mode manual --vnc-port 6501 --vnc-passwd
test123
Configure VNC: Remote display: mode=manual port=6501

Unable to commit CT configuration: Unable to start the VNC server in this
virtual machine. Change the VNC server port number in the virtual machine
configuration and try again. If the problem persists, contact the Virtuozzo
support team for assistance.
Failed to configure the virtual machine.

Any help would be appreciated, port 6501 is open and unused as well.

Hi,
I see the template is available under the OpenVZ Template Repo,

I understand OpenVZ 5 is End of Life but wanted to know if there's a way to
install this template for some legacy applications.

when I check "vzpkg list --available" it gives me, which lists no OpenVZ 5
(6 & 7 are installed already)

Re: [Users] Creating a VM

2019-07-02 Thread Arjit Chaudhary
I think you would need to use,

--device-add cdrom {--device  | --image }
[--iface ] [--subtype ]
[--passthr] [--position ]

So I think to mount the ISO image

prlctl set c7-vm1 --device-add cdrom --image /path/to/iso

If you have to specify "--device device"as well, then I'd suggest checking
the cd-rom device from,
 virsh edit c7-vm1

could be hda or hdc

Re: [Users] Containers list as online in vzlist but not under prlctl list

2019-05-27 Thread Arjit Chaudhary
Hi,
That path with the UUID under /vz/private/ doesn't seem to exist at all on
my system,

[root@box conf]# ls -l | grep 2108
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root   24 May  7 12:07 2108.conf ->
/vz/private/2108/ve.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1865 May 23 19:11 2108.conf.pre-vswap

[root@box conf]# prlctl list -a 2108
UUIDSTATUS IP_ADDR T NAME
{bb632556-4faf-4f36-9a64-f3f0d700c0da} stopped - CT 2108

[root@box conf]# ls -l /vz/private/bb632556-4faf-4f36-9a64-f3f0d700c0da/
ls: cannot access /vz/private/bb632556-4faf-4f36-9a64-f3f0d700c0da/: No
such file or directory

prlctl list -a lists 1 VPS in total as Online and rest as offline (when I
check with prlctl list -a), while vzlist has them all online.

But also, there is no UUID named/type folder in my /vz/private for any
Container

[Users] Containers list as online in vzlist but not under prlctl list

2019-05-26 Thread Arjit Chaudhary
Hello,
Been facing this odd issue where the container lists as "stopped" under
prlctl list but lists as online under vzlist at the same time, for example,

[root@box ~]# vzlist -a 2108
CTID NPROC STATUSIP_ADDR
HOSTNAME
2108100 running
192.168.0.10-

[root@box ~]# prlctl list 2108
UUIDSTATUS IP_ADDR T NAME
{74eb4c58-1325-484c-950c-a4084d6f51ff} stopped - CT 2108
[root@box ~]#

When I try to boot it via prlctl start,

[root@box ~]# prlctl start 2108
Starting the CT...
Failed to start the CT: The virtual machine could not be found. The virtual
machine is not registered in the virtual machine directory on this server.
Contact your Virtuozzo administrator for assistance.
[root@box ~]#

prlctl version 7.0.173.2

Any help would be very appreciated.

[Users] prl_disp_service using a lot of RAM when migrating containers

2019-05-20 Thread Arjit Chaudhary
Earlier today when migrating a few contianers I had a host-node lock up due
to the service using a lot of RAM,

Can this be disabled on OpenVZ 7 or is it needed when migrating via prlctl
migrate ?

Re: [Users] odd issues with vzmigrate

2019-05-16 Thread Arjit Chaudhary
Hi,
I was able to resolve the prlctl migrate issue by removing the installed
rsync (was a newer version from epel) and manually installing the one
available from OpenVZs repository.

Re: Live Migrate,
On my side, I have the same issue with live migration, even if both the
servers are 1:1 in configuration.

Same Intel CPU, same RAM, same disks capacity and yet the issue persists.

So now, prlctl migrate works fine, vzmigrate has this issue still with the
same output as before.

[Users] odd issues with vzmigrate

2019-05-11 Thread Arjit Chaudhary
Hello,
I've been using vzmigrate without issues for a couple of years on VZ6, but
on VZ7 I run into this odd issue,

I am able to migrate from a newer kernel to a older kernel
BUT
I am unable to migrate from same kernel to same kernel?

ie,
3.10.0-957.10.1.vz7.85.17 --to--> 3.10.0-957.10.1.vz7.85.17 == Fail

but,
3.10.0-957.10.1.vz7.85.17 --to-->  3.10.0-862.20.2.vz7.73.29 == Success

This is the error I get when I try to migrate to 192.168.0.10 which runs
3.10.0-957.10.1.vz7.85.17,

> [root@source ~]# vzmigrate 192.168.0.10 5128
> ssh exited with code 255
> ssh wait daemon exited with code 1
> vzsock_open() return 1
>
> Can not create connection to 192.168.0.10

I am able to SSH into 192.168.0.10 via the command ssh root@192.168.0.10
without any issue.

I did try prlctl migrate but that too is returning an error,

> [root@source ~]# prlctl migrate 192.168.0.10 5128
> Failed to get VM config: The virtual machine could not be found. The
virtual machine is > not registered in the virtual machine directory on
this server. Contact your Virtuozzo administrator for assistance.

prlctl version 7.0.173
vzmigrate version 7.0.119-1.vz7

Any help would be appreciated on this.
