Thx for your help! 01.06.2017, 16:46, "Adam Litke" :When you say "not visible in oVirt" you mean that you do not see them in the UI? Yes, I can see some VM with prefix "external-" and without disks. Do you know the specific uuids for the missing volumes?  You could use lvm to check if the LVs are visible to the host. lvs --config 'global {use_lvmetad=0}' -o +tags For each LV, the tag beginning with IU_ indicates the image the volume belongs to.   LV   VG   Attr   LSize    Pool Origin Data%  Meta%  Move Log Cpy%Sync Convert LV Tags    03917876-0e28-4457-bf44-53c7ea2b4d12 0fcd2921-8a55-4ff7-9cba-dca6ffb7b67e -wi---  117,00g IU_3edd1f60-fd43-4e12-9615-b12bcd1a17ab,MD_6,PU_----  309a325a-6f13-4a24-b204-e825ddbf0e41 0fcd2921-8a55-4ff7-9cba-dca6ffb7b67e -wi-ao  300,00g IU_9cbde83c-7d1d-4b78-bc7a-6d540584c888,MD_17,PU_----  3b089aed-b3e1-4423-8585-e65752d19ffe 0fcd2921-8a55-4ff7-9cba-dca6ffb7b67e -wi---   17,00g IU_986849a8-04ea-4b7d-a29f-f023da9020b3,MD_5,PU_----  48b6f4f5-9eeb-4cf3-922a-c9c0c2239bee 0fcd2921-8a55-4ff7-9cba-dca6ffb7b67e -wi---  128,00m IU_caed7169-0c90-467f-86d3-a82148b1f0af,MD_10,PU_----  7700e1e1-351b-49b5-8681-e121bbf67177 0fcd2921-8a55-4ff7-9cba-dca6ffb7b67e -wi---   83,00g IU_9cf3a067-2996-4ff2-b481-b13f7cc73c33,MD_7,PU_----  91a7aa8c-4e13-477c-8703-d8224b85bc84 0fcd2921-8a55-4ff7-9cba-dca6ffb7b67e -wi-ao 1000,00g IU_fd2ecb98-a8c5-4aff-a6d3-7ac3087ab994,MD_15,PU_----  a3f29de7-c6b9-410e-b635-9b3016da7ba2 0fcd2921-8a55-4ff7-9cba-dca6ffb7b67e -wi---    7,50g IU_71f18680-1b93-4a2a-9bd1-95baeccf2d89,MD_11,PU_----  ba26f8b7-b807-4a6c-a840-6a83e8ec526e 0fcd2921-8a55-4ff7-9cba-dca6ffb7b67e -wi---    8,00g IU_e204e228-fa35-4457-a31d-3b7964156538,MD_8,PU_----  ba29b8fd-3618-42d6-a70f-17d883fde0ed 0fcd2921-8a55-4ff7-9cba-dca6ffb7b67e -wi---   50,00g IU_c46d5cbb-1802-4086-a31a-5b3f0b874454,MD_16,PU_----  ba92b801-3619-4753-9e06-3e2028a408cb 0fcd2921-8a55-4ff7-9cba-dca6ffb7b67e -wi---  128,00m IU_0d0983f0-60d7-4ce0-bf1b-12cfc456acd8,MD_9,PU_----  c0bcf836-c648-4421-9340-febcc0e0abfe 0fcd2921-8a55-4ff7-9cba-dca6ffb7b67e -wi---   50,00g IU_4fe1b047-60b2-4bc3-b73b-2fad8a81cc02,MD_13,PU_----  c1d08688-aad1-478e-82a3-e5b5fde85706 0fcd2921-8a55-4ff7-9cba-dca6ffb7b67e -wi-ao 1000,00g IU_f58cd721-d8b8-4794-b059-8789a9fecf62,MD_18,PU_----  c7a4782f-cde6-40db-a625-810fd2856dfa 0fcd2921-8a55-4ff7-9cba-dca6ffb7b67e -wi---  300,00g IU_8917cb1a-8bd4-4386-a95a-0189a04866ad,MD_19,PU_----  cb36e25a-b9b2-4f54-9b03-a10837bc26ab 0fcd2921-8a55-4ff7-9cba-dca6ffb7b67e -wi---   50,00g IU_e8720901-0383-4266-98a7-fb5b9fb27e52,MD_14,PU_----  f60ccaa4-663b-4a39-8ad0-2ed3fb208cb0 0fcd2921-8a55-4ff7-9cba-dca6ffb7b67e -wi---   50,00g IU_f0d441bb-2bd2-4523-ab59-beef544727b5,MD_12,PU_----  fd8822ee-4fc9-49ba-9760-87a85d56bf91 0fcd2921-8a55-4ff7-9cba-dca6ffb7b67e -wi---  413,00g IU_7be49698-f3a5-4995-b411-f0490a819950,MD_4,PU_----  ids  0fcd2921-8a55-4ff7-9cba-dca6ffb7b67e -wi-ao  128,00m    inbox    0fcd2921-8a55-4ff7-9cba-dca6ffb7b67e -wi-a-  128,00m    leases   0fcd2921-8a55-4ff7-9cba-dca6ffb7b67e -wi-a-    2,00g

We have done the same thing. Be aware that it makes upgrades a PITA - the
installer is picky about the version, as well as various PG config options and
refuses to run if you don't satisfy it. I hacked the installer, because that
was easier than standing up an ancient Postgres just for the upgrade in our
environment; YMMV.

That said, using engine-config you can change the version check and allow to
launch it . You’ll miss some features but it may not really be that important
if all you need is to see the screen and cannot update clients to EL7
See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1285883

You cannot migrate VMs between Datacenters. I think an export domain will
be your easiest option but there may be a way to upgrade in-place (ie.
upgrade engine while vms are running, then upgrade cluster) but I am not an
expert in this area.

Re: [ovirt-users] Manually copying VM disks from FC data domain

2017-06-01 Thread Adam Litke
When you say "not visible in oVirt" you mean that you do not see them in
the UI? Do you know the specific uuids for the missing volumes? You could
use lvm to check if the LVs are visible to the host.

lvs --config 'global {use_lvmetad=0}' -o +tags

For each LV, the tag beginning with IU_ indicates the image the volume
belongs to.

You could also try to use the vdsm commands:

# Get the storage pool id
sudo vdsm-client Host getConnectedStoragePools

# Get a list of storagedomain IDs
sudo vdsm-client Host getStorageDomains # gives you a list of
storagedomainIDs

# Get a list of image ids on a domain
sudo vdsm-client StorageDomain getImages sdUUID=

# Get a list of volume ids in an image
sudo vdsm-client Image getVolumes imageID= storagepoolID=
storagedomainID=

If the wanted images are present on the host but not in engine then you had
a problem with import. If the images are not visible to the host then you
probably have some storage connection issue.

Re: [ovirt-users] virt-viewer disabling rhel6

2017-06-01 Thread Lev Veyde
Hi Cam,

Unfotunately RHEL 6 clients are no longer supported in the oVirt 4.1 due to
the new functions that were added which require a more recent version of
the virt-viewer, thus the issue.

You should use a more recent version e.g. to use RHEL 7 as the client to
resolve the issue.

Thanks in advance,

Subject: Re: [ovirt-users] PXE boot of oVirt Node 4.1

Hi

Information on ovirt.org is about old node, from oVirt 4.0 we
have NextGeneration Node (NGN). I don't use cobbler, but for PXE I can provide
what worked for me.
Take iso from:
http://resources.ovirt.org/pub/ovirt-4.1/iso/ovirt-node-ng-installer/, unpack
it ( simple mount -o loop; cp -r ):

pxelinux.cfg/ovirt-node.menu:
...
LABEL ovirt NGN
KERNEL http://websrv/your_unpacked_iso/images/pxeboot/vmlinuz
APPEND initrd=http://websrv/your_unpacked_iso/images/pxeboot/initrd.img
inst.stage2=http://websrv/your_unpacked_iso/
inst.ks=http://websrv/your_unpacked_iso/my.ks
ipappend 2

Kickstart file to automate a lot of tasks for me "my.ks":
install
lang en_US.UTF-8
keyboard us
rootpw --plaintext 123
network --bootproto=dhcp
timezone --utc Europe/Prague
firewall --service=ssh

liveimg --url=http://websrv/your_unpacked_iso/ovirt-node-ng-image.squashfs.img

# partitioning - nuke and start fresh
zerombr
clearpart --all --initlabel
autopart --type=thinp
bootloader --location=mbr

reboot

%post --erroronfail
imgbase layout --init
%end

Basically liveimg --url ... & autopart & %post part should be enough for
interactive install.
I hope I made it at least a little bit clearer.

Hi all,

I extended it from 00:1a:4a:22:1f:00 to 00:1a:4a:22:1f:ff =>
00:1a:4a:22:1e:00 to 00:1a:4a:22:1f:ff.

It was okay but when rebooting some vms, nics are interverted and I couldn't
join my vm on ip!

I noticed nics were ordered now from the smallest MAC address to the
greatest one, so the last plugged nic from the new pool was now the first in
the vm, and all nics were moved at the bottom.

Is it an expected behaviour?

No. As far as I recall, and Yevgeny can add more details, reordering
of vNICs happens only when allocating multiple nics in the initial
definition of a VM; but not on plugging of a nic to an existing VM.

Which version of ovirt-engine do you use?

oVirt Engine Version: 4.1.2.2-1.el7.centos

[ovirt-users] Storage domain does not exist

2017-06-01 Thread Bryan Sockel
Hey,

I am having an issue moving/copying vm's and templates around in my ovirt
environment. I am getting the following error in my VDSM Logs:

"2017-06-01 01:01:54,425-0500 ERROR (jsonrpc/5) [storage.Dispatcher]
{'status': {'message': "Storage domain does not exist:
(u'97258ca6-5acd-40c7-a812-b8cac02a9621',)", 'code': 358}} (dispatcher:77)"

I believe this started when i destroyed a data domain instead of removing
the domain correctly. I have since then rebuilt my ovirt environment,
importing my gluster domains back into my new setup.

I believe the issue is related to some stale metadata on my gluster storage
servers somewhere but do not know how to remove it or where it exists.

I found these two posts that seem to deal with the same problem i am seeing.

https://access.redhat.com/solutions/180623
and
https://access.redhat.com/solutions/2355061

Currently running 2 dedicated gluster servers and 2 Ovirt VM hosts servers,
one is acting as an arbiter for my replica 3 gluster file system.

All hosts are running CentOS Linux release 7.3.1611 (Core)

The message:

No handlers could be found for logger "ovirt.engine.ovirt_engine.configfile"

is ugly, but harmless. It almost always appears in the setup log file.
You are welcome to open a bug about it, though.

Not sure what's the problem with engine-setup.

Can you please provide the full output?

Does it create a log file? Can you check/share that one too?

Can you please try this:

OTOPI_DEBUG=1 engine-setup

Best,

Note that since it is a kvm VM, virt-v2v is not involved in the process.

So the VM resided in some oVirt data center (the old system), you exported
the VM into an export domain (export folder), detached the export domain
from that data center, attached it to a new one, imported the VM and it
doesn't run now?

Please file a bug and attach the engine log, vdsm log and qemu log (the
latter can be found in /var/log/libvirt/qemu), covering the time you run
the VM.

Glad for that. Indeed a change between el6 and el7 is the addition of
the package iptables-services. For quite a long time, we install this
package during engine-setup [1] if available, but only after we ask
about the firewall - so if it's not installed beforehand engine-setup
won't let you choose iptables.

You can check that in the setup logs.

If firewalld was active (up) when you ran engine-setup, and you replied 'Yes'
to 'Configure firewall?', then it automatically chose firewalld, with the
assumption that if it's up, it's very likely what you want. It also emits
a line about this.

Main reason from our (as developers) POV is that it's modular - allows
adding/removing services programmatically, without having to parse and
understand /etc/sysconfig/iptables.

Obviously some people also prefer it for other reasons - ease of use,
not having to know all the details for each specific services, etc.

Best,
