Hi

Alex K, thanks. It was not clear the previous answers to me that's why I
specified the quesiton if GUI meant Cockpit or Web Interface which was then
well answered by Martin. Therefore thanks for that.

In case you need HA for the engine you need to deploy it to other hosts
 also through the GUI.

 2018-04-03 2:01 GMT-03:00 Vincent Royer :

Same thing, the engine in this case is "self-hosted", as in, it runs in
a VM hosted on the cluster that it is managing. I am a beginner here, but
from my understanding, each node is always checking on the health of the
engine VM. If the engine is missing (ie, the host running it has gone
down), then another available, healthy host will spawn up the engine and
 you will regain access.

In my experience this has worked very reliably. I have 2 hosts, both
are "able" to run the engine VM. If I take one host down, I am not able to
load the engine GUI. But if I wait a few minutes, then I regain access,
and see that the engine is now running on the remaining healthy host.

After the power failure, these mounts were missing on one of my nodes. I

I haven't considered 2 yet - Interesting thought that I will look into.
I just saw 3 for the first time from Pauls post and it looks very

The subnet is used to configure OVN's internal DHCP server.
This means you use DHCP to assign IPs to the vNICs, which is already a
good test if the VM is connected as expected.

Please note that per host only a single OVN central is supported!

Please check via
sudo ovn-sbctl show
on engine1 if both hosts are connected to OVN central engine1.

Probably the host of engine2 is configured to use engine2 as it's OVN
central. Probable the host of engine2 has to be connected to OVN
central engine1 and the tunneling interface might require some
configuration.

Both is handled by executing
/usr/libexec/ovirt-provider-ovn/setup_ovn_controller.sh \
 IP-central tunneling-IP key_file cert_file ca_file
on the host.

Probably
IP-central is IP-of-engine1
tunneling-IP is IP-of-host-of-engine-2
and key_file cert_file ca_file has to be stolen from host of engine1
and copied in a new location on host2 and configured on host2.

[ovirt-users] OVN between two different datacenters with different networks

Hi, all

1.Created network test1 with external ovn provider on engine1
2.Created subnet for this network
3.Connect engine2 to engine1 ovn provider(through “add provider”)
4.Successfully imported network test1 on engine2
5.I see subnet’s on all engines
6.Created 2 VM with nic in network test1 on both engines
7.Assigned ips from one subnet(192.168.10.0/24) to all VMs

Expected results: VM from engine1 can ping VM from engine2 in same subnet in
ovn network test1

Now, I don’t have ping ability between two VMs

What can I do to fix this?

Hi,according to the error it seams that the playbook wasn't able to fetch the
IP address got by the local VM on the default libvirt natted network but it's
pretty strange since it shouldn't reach that stage in that case.
Can you please attach the whole log file?

Thanks for the reply. The log file states nothing whatsoever.
Theresponse is so insanely fast that it feels as if something fails an
early validation. It does not matter, if I use authentication or not. If
I use http instead of https it logs the following error:

 engine.log
2018-04-09 15:39:39,298+02 INFO

failed: EngineException: (Failed with error PROVIDER_FAILURE and code 5050)
 EOM

So http goes thru and responds with the expected error (connection via
http is reset immediately). But for https it does not even get this far.
I can access the Provider-URL and Auth-URL via browser and from the
engine's command line and get a valid json response.

It also does not matter, if I use authentication or not. Error end
response rate stays the same. I checked with our hosting provider that
the urls are correct.

I have attached a screenshot of the "Edit Provider"-Window with the
message. It's the only place something is logged. Setting log level to
debug shows nothing either.

Yes sure. There's no difference between RHV and oVirt, is the same
product. I've deployed in hosted-engine on FC with all releases
without issues.

As far as i know no. I've several vms with vmtype 10 (RHEL 7 vms) and
i've been importing without problems from ESXi 6.0
