I unsubscribed members who had already did so at the time of migration
(thus excluding newly subscribed folks) on all mailing-lists.

Sorry for the trouble it caused.

Well, as it happened before the migration I guess it's more of mail
antispam & co problem. Could you open a JIRA ticket with as much
information as you can on the subject please?

I'm going to focus on migration problems first, but I'll a look at it

[ovirt-users] Package conflicts with release of oVirt 4.2.3 and CentOS 7.5 (cockpit packages required by ovirt)

2018-05-13 Thread Sam McLeod
Howdy all,

I've again been hit by packaging conflicts with the release of oVirt 4.2.3 and
CentOS 7.5.

The error I'm getting when running yum upgrade then accepting the list of
packages to upgrade is:

Transaction check error:
  file /usr/share/cockpit/networkmanager/manifest.json from install of
cockpit-system-160-3.el7.centos.noarch conflicts with file from package
cockpit-networkmanager-160-1.el7.centos.noarch

* Both these packages are provided as part of centos extras, this leaves me
wondering if this repo is expected to be disabled when oVirt is installed?

* If that is the case, there should probably be some clear documentation on
what yum repos should not ever be enabled when using oVirt as it seems package
conflicts are very common - thoughts?

The two packages:

# yum info cockpit-system-160-3.el7.centos.noarch

[ovirt-users] how to attach an export domain to a new datacenter with an export domain not very well unattached from an obsolete datacenter

2018-05-13 Thread n . vaye
Hi Ovirt Team,

how to attach an export domain to a new datacenter with an export domain not
very well unattached from an obsolete datacenter ?

My old platform with ovirt 4.1 was deleted ans reinstalled with ovirt 4.2.3.
It's ok but i have a problem with an export domain which has not been
unattached before the extinction of the old platform.

When i try to attach this export domain, i have the error message in the gui :

Failed to attach Storage Domain oVirtNFS_EXPORT to Data Center xxx.

How can i reinitialize the export domain without erase the data ? just the
manager who own the domain.

Thanks for all.

2018-05-13 Thread RabidCicada
I've had the exact same error. My solution was to disable obsoletes logic
in yum. Obsoletes =0 in yum.conf.

I haven't investigated much but it's caused by udisks2 obsoleting
storaged.

Yeah, that capability of exporting running VMs was discussed (and I even
started implementing it half a year ago [1]) but is not yet available.

[ovirt-users] Re: strange issue: vm lost info on disk

2018-05-13 Thread Juan Pablo
2 clues:
-the original size of the disk was 750G and was extended a month ago to
1100G. The System rebooted fine several times, and took the new size with
no problems.

-I run fdisk from a centos 7 rescue cd and '/dev/vda' reported 750G. then,
I took a snapshot of the disk to play with recovery tools and now fdisk
reports 1100G... ¬¬

so my guess is on the extend and later migration to a different storage
domain caused the issue.
Im currently running testdisk to see if theres any partition to recover.

[ovirt-users] ovirt host upgrade 4.2.2 -> 4.2.3

2018-05-13 Thread Artem Tambovskiy
Hello,

I'm upgrading my cluster from 4.2.2 to 4.2.3, HE upgrade went well, but
having some issues with hosts upgrade: for some reason yum complaining
about conflicts during transaction check:

Transaction check error:
  file /usr/share/cockpit/networkmanager/manifest.json from install of
cockpit-system-160-3.el7.centos.noarch conflicts with file from package
cockpit-networkmanager-160-1.el7.centos.noarch

Any ideas about the reason for this?

Strange.. None of my VMs have the option of Exporting to either OVA or Export
Domain. It is grey'd out. It would be awesome if I could do that with them
running.

oVirt has proven itself a very very valuable product in my homelab. Tickled
to death to run this thing with a few forward facing sites, hosting my own
cloud etc.

There appears to be an issue with the host install on these, there's quite a

the hosts from the engine to attempt to reinstall them.

Issue presented from having a statically configured network on the ovritmgmt

missing) and assorted goodness in there.

Any help greatly appreciated, not sure what the next step forward is from here

Yes.

The way to upgrade is first upgrade the hosts, then the clusters, then the
DC. So you could have a 4.2 host in a 4.1 cluster, then when all hosts are
4.2 you can upgrade the cluster to 4.2, and so on.

2018-05-13 Thread Jayme Fall
Two issues I’ve seen with this upgrade:

1. This address I’m sending from was subscribed to ovirt user mailing list in
the past, I un-subscribed it a while ago and now I’m getting mail at it again.
My other address @gmail.com was subscribed all along and is now NOT getting any
email from the list. Are you operating on an old subscriber list?

2. I’ve un-subscribed this e-mail address 3 times, twice by e-mail and once by
signing up an account directly at http://lists.ovirt.org/
with this e-mail address then un-subscribing via the
website. I am still list mail sent to this address after un-subscribing.

[ovirt-users] Copying/Cloning a VM to another server

2018-05-13 Thread Alex Bartonek
Just trying to make sure there isnt an easier way to do what I'm doing.
I dont have an HA environment in my homelab. I have 3 VM's and I wanted to
copy them to my backup r710 which runs oVirt 4.2. I basically shut down my VM,
exported it to an export domain on my primary r710. Then detached the export
domain on the primary. On my "standby" r710 I imported the export domain from
the primary r710, attached, activated and imported the VM. Worked as expected.

I'm assuming this is the correct way to do so. I've tried Export to OVA but
that didnt work like I wanted and I didnt care to keep messing with that option.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply,

Ok I see what you’re saying, its just confusing because there are several
places that mention the gateways and none of them are clear on what they’re
doing.
For example, under Cluster > Networks > Manage Networks, default route is only
selectable for 1 network, yet in each network you create there is still the
option of choosing a IP address and gateway.

On the host there are multiple routing tables, the default main one contains
the default route of the host. Each defined network also maintains its own
routing table, for traffic that it generated or is destined to it (in case the
network has an IP).
So these are not the same things.

Even if I don’t put in any IP or gateway for a tagged vlan, it still depends of
the management gateway to forward to the router. I thought I should be able to
lose the management network and still have all the tagged vlans working?
Setting an IP on a network is useful if you need the *host* to communicate with
some remote on an IP level.
If you need VM communication, then an IP on a host network is not needed. The
vnics are connected through a bridge, not through a router. So traffic from a
VM is not passing through the L3 stack of the host and its routing entries on
the host do not effect that traffic.

Not sure if I understand what you are asking here, but the need for a gateway
per network has emerged from the need to support other host networks (not VM
networks) beside the management one.
As an example, migration and storage networks can be defined, each passing
dedicated traffic (one for storage communication and another for VM migration
traffic), they may need to pass through different gateways.
So the management network can be accessed using gateway A, storage using B and
migration using C. A will usually be set on a host level as the host default
gateway, and the others will be set for the individual networks.
Otherwise, how would you expect storage to use a different router (than the
management one) in the network?
Thanks,
Edy.

I don’t understand why you would want this unless the ovirtnode itself was

NIC1  -> ovirt-mgmt  - gateway set
NIC2  -> VLAN3, VLAN4, etc…

https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/admin-guide/chap-Logical_Networks/

Viewing or Editing the Gateway for a Logical Network
Users can define the gateway, along with the IP address and subnet mask, for a
logical network. This is necessary when multiple networks exist on a host and
traffic should be routed through the specified network, rather than the default
gateway.
If multiple networks exist on a host and the gateways are not defined, return
traffic will be routed through the default gateway, which may not reach the
intended destination. This would result in users being unable to ping the host.
oVirt handles multiple gateways automatically whenever an interface goes up or
down.

[ovirt-users] how to attach an export domain to a new datacenter with an export domain not very well unattached from an obsolete datacenter

2018-05-13 Thread Nicolas Vaye

[ovirt-users] How to update "quota_cluster_limit" settings of a quota object through REST API?

2018-05-13 Thread Shao-Da Huang
Hi,

I can update the vCPU and memory quota by editing a Quota object of a
datacenter through webadmin portal, but it seems that I cannot update
through REST API...

For example, I have a quota object with a global quota_cluster_limit object:

GET
https://192.168.80.168/ovirt-engine/api/datacenters/5ad4fafe-0253-0015-0215-0378/quotas/8a6b3336-2dfc-4e40-a58e-9bdcb45d228a/quotaclusterlimits/

16.0 0.0
6 0

But when I try to do

PUT
https://192.168.80.168/ovirt-engine/api/datacenters/5ad4fafe-0253-0015-0215-0378/quotas/8a6b3336-2dfc-4e40-a58e-9bdcb45d228a/quotaclusterlimits/8a6b3336-2dfc-4e40-a58e-9bdcb45d228a

with request body like:

I got *405 Method Not Allowed.*
Could anyone give me some advices?

[ovirt-users] Re: newbie questions on networking

2018-05-13 Thread Rue, Randy

Getting weirder.

I reinstalled a third node from scratch with no bonding and my VM works
fine.

To answer an earlier question, we're not configuring any bonding on the
data center switches so I've stuck to bonding modes like round robin,
active/stand-by, and XOR. I've mostly been using XOR.

Where it gets weird is if I switch the bonding mode from XOR to
active/stand-by, a VM on that host can see the real world. And if I
switch it from active/stand-by back to XOR, it still works.

I'm currently running three nodes, all with bonded interfaces in XOR
mode, and all is well. I wish I knew why.

[ovirt-users] Host install failed - cannot set maintenance or remove

2018-05-13 Thread Callum Smith
Dear All,

There appears to be an issue with the host install on these, there's quite a
lot of errors being kicked out into the logs as they cycle through attempting
to activate, failing, and then failing to go into maintenance. I can't remove
the hosts from the engine to attempt to reinstall them.

Issue presented from having a statically configured network on the ovritmgmt
network on the hosts before running the host install. There are SQL errors (FK
missing) and assorted goodness in there.

Any help greatly appreciated, not sure what the next step forward is from here
