Yes, libvirt does not support multiple hosts for gluster disk yet.

A workaround may be using DNS address that expose all hosts.

[ovirt-users] Changing the system resources of the pool VM

2018-11-08 Thread Hyung-Keun Kim
Hi.

What I want to ask is simple.
System resource changes in the Pool VM do not seem to be supported by ovirt.
So let me ask you two questions.

1. Can you tell what the reason is? Are you related to the ovf file?

2. Is there any other way to use sub-templates? (Manual work is also fine)
Is it possible to modify DB value only? If not, what else should I touch?

Waiting for experts to answer.
Thank you.

No, libgfapi access is disabled by default due to lack of HA
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1484227)

At this moment, for version mentioned below, this bug is actual?
comment 13 at 2018-08-31 asks for workaround is unanswered too..

more than a year has passed since that, versions updated
now qemu-kvm-ev-2.10.0-21.el7_5.7.1.x86_64
vdsm-4.20.43-1.el7.x86_64
glusterfs-server-3.12.15-1.el7.x86_64

I cannot reproduce it on my test install because I not configured
storage fully (see my "set up ovirt 4.2 hyperconverged with glusterfs
"storage network" over infiniband" post here)

But if it needs I may try.

All from that repository, and use webui installer for create glusterfs
volumes (default suggested engine, data, vmstore) and then install
hosted engine on that "engine" volume.

In cluster I want to use libgfapi gluster storage access method, but
when I import storages, created by installer at first step, VDSM mount
it on hosts with FUSE.

For Example
ovirtstor1.miac:/engine on
/rhev/data-center/mnt/glusterSD/ovirtstor1.miac:_engine type
fuse.glusterfs
(rw,relatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,default_permissions,allow_other,max_read=131072)

ovirtnode1.miac:/data on
/rhev/data-center/mnt/glusterSD/ovirtnode1.miac:_data type
fuse.glusterfs
(rw,relatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,default_permissions,allow_other,max_read=131072)

I see in config, And it is disabled (false)
[root@ovirtengine ~]# engine-config -a | grep -i libgf
LibgfApiSupported: false version: 3.6
LibgfApiSupported: false version: 4.0
LibgfApiSupported: false version: 4.1
LibgfApiSupported: false version: 4.2

Why? Its is needed to enable it by hand?

You can move to GlusterFS 4.1/5.0 with oVirt 4.3 as there's a
dependency change (gluster-gnfs that's removed) needed in spec to get
this working.

You can convert the 3 servers to run both gluster and compute by enabling
gluster service on cluster and reinstalling the hosts one at a time (to
ensure the gluster packages are installed and gluster is peer probed)
However, I don't know if there's a way to move the external engine to
hosted engine in this setup.

[ovirt-users] ovirt 4.2.7 nested not importing she domain

2018-11-08 Thread Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
I'm configuring a nested self hosted engine environment with 4.2.7 and
CentOS 7.5.
Domain type is NFS.
I deployed with

hosted-engine --deploy --noansible

All went apparently good but after creating the master storage domain I see
that the hosted engine domain is not automatically imported
At the moment I have only one host.

ovirt-ha-agent status gives every 10 seconds:
Nov 09 00:36:30 ovirtdemo01.localdomain.local ovirt-ha-agent[18407]:
ovirt-ha-agent
ovirt_hosted_engine_ha.agent.hosted_engine.HostedEngine.config.vm ERROR
Unable to identify the OVF_STORE volume, falling back to initial vm.conf.
Please ensure you already added your first data domain for regular VMs

In engine.log I see every 15 seconds a dumpxml output ad the message:

2018-11-09 00:31:52,822+01 WARN

Any hint?

[ovirt-users] storage healing question

2018-11-08 Thread Dev Ops
The switches above our environment had some VPC issues and the port channels
went offline. The ports that had issues belonged to 2 of the gfs nodes in our
environment. We have 3 storage nodes total with the 3rd being the arbiter. I
wound up rebooting the first 2 nodes and everything came back happy. After a
few hours I noticed that the storage was up but complaining about being out of
sync and needing healing. Within the hour I noticed a VM had paused itself due
to storage issues. This is a small environment, for now, with only 30 VM's. I
am new to Ovirt so this is uncharted territory for me. I am tailing some logs
and things look sort of normal and google is sending me down a wormhole.

If I run "gluster volume heal cps-vms-gfs info" this number seems to be
changing pretty regularly. Logs are showing lots of entries like this:

[2018-11-08 21:55:05.996675] I [MSGID: 114047]
[client-handshake.c:1242:client_setvolume_cbk] 0-cps-vms-gfs-client-1: Server
and Client lk-version numbers are not same, reopening the fds
[2018-11-08 21:55:05.997693] I [MSGID: 108002] [afr-common.c:5312:afr_notify]

[client-handshake.c:202:client_set_lk_version_cbk] 0-cps-vms-gfs-client-1:
Server lk version = 1

I guess I am curious what else should I be looking for? Is this just taking
forever to heal? Is there something else I can run or I should do to verify
things are actually getting better? I ran an actual heal command and it cleared
everything for a few seconds and then the entries started to populate again
when I did the info command.

We have more powerful and reliable mechanism, using host power management.

When power management is not available or fail, we have similar mechanism
using
sanlock, which like sanlock is using the host watchdog and communicating
with
other hosts via shared storage.

You can add a storage lease to HA VM. If the VM loose access to storage on
a host,
the system will start the VM on another host safely, even if the original
host is not
accessible or lost power.

Leases are also used to recover storage jobs (like copying volumes) when
the host
performing the copy became non-responsive. We can fence the storage job and
start
it safely on another host, without waiting for the original host to become
available again.

Can you explain what are the advantages of SBD fencing?

Hello,

did you evaluated shutting down vms via ansible or ovirt sdk?

https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine-sdk/blob/master/sdk/examples/stop_vm.py

[ovirt-users] Q: Guest shutdown from UPS power off signal with "virsh"

2018-11-08 Thread Andrei Verovski
Hi !

I have a shell script running on all servers which intercepts power off signal
(in case of power failure).

Is it safe to use direct KVM “virsh” commands to force guest shutdown on oVirt
nodes, bypassing oVirt engine ?

“shutdown now” directly on oVirt nodes v4.2.6 takes an enormous amount of time
because for whatever reason guests can’t be suspended. My nodes installed on
CentOS 7.5, I’m not using pre-packaged version because each consecutive upgrade
simply wipes out all my mods.

Thanks in advance.
Andrei

[ovirt-users] Re: Network/Storage design

Thanks for the tips,
I have set up one NIC on VLAN 1 for storage, one NIC on VLAN 1 for
Migration , 1 NIC on VLAN 1 for MGMT and one NIV on multiples VLANs for
VM's.

Does it make sense or I will have routing issues for having multiple
interfaces on the same VLAN with different IP's?

Thanks.

[ovirt-users] wrong vm disk size after uploading and attaching to VM

Hi,

After uploading virutal machine disk to storage domain and attaching it to
virtual machine the disk size is shown in properties as 0 and the VM boots
to dracut complaining about the disk size.
The disk is "thin provision"

Device /dev/sda2 has size of 22528 sectors which is smaller than
corresponding PV size of 166746122 <16%20674%2061%2022>

Is there a way to fix that?

Thanks

In cluster I want to use libgfapi gluster storage access method, but
when I import storages, created by installer at first step, VDSM mount
it on hosts with FUSE.

For Example
ovirtstor1.miac:/engine on
/rhev/data-center/mnt/glusterSD/ovirtstor1.miac:_engine type
fuse.glusterfs
(rw,relatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,default_permissions,allow_other,max_read=131072)

ovirtnode1.miac:/data on
/rhev/data-center/mnt/glusterSD/ovirtnode1.miac:_data type
fuse.glusterfs
(rw,relatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,default_permissions,allow_other,max_read=131072)

I see in config, And it is disabled (false)
[root@ovirtengine ~]# engine-config -a | grep -i libgf
LibgfApiSupported: false version: 3.6
LibgfApiSupported: false version: 4.0
LibgfApiSupported: false version: 4.1
LibgfApiSupported: false version: 4.2

Why? Its is needed to enable it by hand?

Like as in this presentation?

[ovirt-users] Re: set up ovirt 4.2 hyperconverged with glusterfs "storage network" over infiniband

2018-11-08 Thread Mike Lykov

07.11.2018 12:27, Mike Lykov пишет:

4. Gluster volumes are in strange state:

When i try to create volume (storage->volumes->new), press "add
bricks" - there is a similar drop-down box "Bricks Host" contains only
"ovirtnode" names, not "ovirtstor" ib interfaces..
If I try to use it - It cannot finished with error like "This host not
in trusted pool", its true - in trusted tool there is other interface.

What the right way to configure this?

Update:

I create network "storage", uncheck "required" and check "migrate" and
"gluster" role.
Then i attach this network in "setup host networks" to hosts, interface
ib0 (but it state is out-of-sync because different MTU in DC config and
real host, see previous post)

But in engine.log I see this message:

2018-11-08 17:19:23,406+04 WARN
[org.ovirt.engine.core.vdsbroker.gluster.GlusterVolumesListReturn]
(DefaultQuartzScheduler7) [70a2eb8a] Could not associate brick
'ovirtstor1.miac:/gluster_bricks/engine/engine' of volume
'77d6bcb1-244d-4319-b3f0-e4eb73a9206c' with correct network as no
gluster network found in cluster 'ea3c5a62-de76-11e8-9238-00163e062063'

Why "no gluster network found in cluster" ?
It is because it out-of-sync?
Network is UP in webui ...

[ovirt-users] Any plans for oVirt and SBD fencing (a.k.a. poison pill)

2018-11-08 Thread hunter86_bg
Hello Community,

Do you have any idea if SBD fencing mechanism will be implemented in the
nearest future?
It will be nice to be able to resset a host just like corosync/pacemaker
cluster implementation.

[ovirt-users] Re: updating Spacewalk registered Enterprise hosts to 4.2.7

2018-11-08 Thread Matthias Leopold

i think this is related to https://github.com/ansible/ansible/issues/46603
my colleague had similar problems with ansible 2.7.0 and yum, he told me
his issue went away with ansible 2.7.1

would be nice if oVirt ansible could be updated to 2.7.1

thx

Since this is only a test environment and i could easily switch the

the Spacewalk server is too old...
