I think the relevant error from this log is:

Creating initial Keycloak admin user\n[ ERROR ] Failed to execute
stage 'Misc configuration': [Errno 2] No such file or directory:
'/usr/share/ovirt-engine/services/ovirt-engine/keycloakz26apcu3/keycloak-add-user.json

Can you please check/share all of the logs under
/var/log/ovirt-hosted-engine-setup, and if you can access the engine
VM, also /var/log/ there? Perhaps upload to some file sharing service
and add a link.

In particular: I see from the above log that the appliance you use,
ovirt-engine-appliance-4.5-20220511122240, while being the latest we
published (in [1]), is somewhat old. This shouldn't be a problem,
because during setup we also:

2022-07-20 18:56:26,297+0200 INFO
otopi.ovirt_hosted_engine_setup.ansible_utils
ansible_utils._process_output:115 TASK [ovirt.ovirt.engine_setup :
Update all packages]
2022-07-20 19:10:06,521+0200 INFO
otopi.ovirt_hosted_engine_setup.ansible_utils
ansible_utils._process_output:115 changed: [localhost ->
192.168.222.20]

Which, as you can see, took quite some time, so hopefully worked as
expected - but I can't see in this log which versions of ovirt-engine
and ovirt-engine-keyclock you eventually had, before engine-setup was
ran.

Adding Artur, our keycloak integration developer. Artur, any idea what
might have caused this error?

Generally speaking, on a clean installation you should not need to do
anything around the network yourself.

An attempt to deploy a new host fails. Deploy I see the following error in the
deploy log:

192.168.4.17: Failed to connect to host via ssh: root@192.168.4.17 :
Permission denied (publickey,gssapi-keyex,gssapi-with-mic,password).

Despite the fact that the root user logs into the host via ssh from the
ovirt-engine without any problems.

So I understand that ansible scripts cannot get through ssh.

Do you have any ideas about this?

If it worries you, you will have to move one of the hosts in another
cluster (probably a new one) and slowly migrate the VMs from the old to
the new one.
Yet, if you use only 3 hosts that can put your VMs in risk (new cluster
having a single host could lead to downtimes).

well, it blocks me from any changes on cluster so it is serious
problem... but personally I don't like this "new cluster and migration"
approach :-(

To be honest, I wouldn't change DB if it's a productive cluster. If you
decide to go that one -> make an engine backup before that.

Would anyone from oVirt/gluster developers have a look?

Thanks in advance,

setting single host to maintenance didn't change state of the gluster
services checkbox in cluster settings.

well, in my oVirt install there is no way to setup glusterfs services
during host reinstall. There are only choices to configure firewall,
activate host after install, reboot host after install and
deploy/undeploy hosted engine...

I think that gluster related stuff is installed automatically as it is
configured on cluster level (where in my case are gluster services
disabled).

Hello,

Tried it:
*$ gluster volume remove-brick GV2Data replica 1
office-wx-hv1-lab-gfs:/mnt/**LogGFSData/brick force*
Running remove-brick with cluster.force-migration enabled can result in
data corruption. It is safer to disable this option so that files that
receive writes during migration are not migrated.
Files that are not migrated can then be manually copied after the
remove-brick commit operation.
Do you want to continue with your current cluster.force-migration settings?
(y/n) y
volume remove-brick start: failed: need 2(xN) bricks for reducing replica
count of the volume from 3 to 1

Just to add 2 things that could be important in general for oVirt 4.5 users:

1. in oVirt (not tried yet in RHV) the import error happens also if the
export is done in the same version (4.5.x), not only previous ones
2. in both oVirt and RHV the import error happens also if you try the
recommended way: export as OVA (instead of "Export to Export Domain) and
then import of the OVA.

BTW: the export domain object is deprecated, but still in RHV 4.4-SP1 (and
I think in oVirt 4.5.x too) when you select
Compute -> Templates
Import button at top right
the window you are then proposed contains as default the option where
"Source" field is "Export Domain", while I think that to be consistent, the
drop-down option button should contain as default the other possible
choice: "Virtual Appliance (OVA)"

Thanks. I confirm I get the same error in RHV.
I asked inside the bugzilla to create a cloned one for RHV if not already
there

[ovirt-users] Template import in 4.5

2022-07-20 Thread Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
I have a problem importing templates in downstream product 4.4-SP1 that
should match in some way oVirt 4.5.x.
I get a ui exception preventing me from importing the template.
I have already opened a case for it (03270063).
Just wondering if it can be a general problem and in particular an oVirt
problem too. I have not at hand an oVirt 4.5 env.
Can anyone in oVirt 4.5.x confirm that Template Import through export
domains work as expected in that environment?
In my case the template has been exported from a 4.4.x environment, so the
perfect match would be to export a template in 4.4 and then import it in 4.5
Thanks in advance

Hello,

To confirm, changing MaxNumOfCpusCoefficient solved my issue.

Thank you for the help.

Before oVirt 4.5, MaxNumOfCpusCoefficient was applied only if the
maximum number of the VM vCPU sockets was higher than 16. Now, it is
applied more strictly (although there are still some exceptions, which
is probably why you see 16 max vCPUs rather than 8). This means
MaxNumOfCpusCoefficient value cannot be ignored anymore in some
scenarios. If you need to hot plug more vCPUs than the number of the
initial vCPUs, you should change MaxNumOfCpusCoefficient.

Milan
