HA is currently controlled by the engine, which needs to know the VM isn't
running on the host to launch it on another host.
we're looking at relying on sanlock for engine to be able to launch the VM
on another host without fencing the first host.

Hi, on RHEV 3.x it works as emitor needs, oVirt has another behavior ?

 1. not sure where you downloaded them from - they are not
re-distributable in their binary form afair.

 2. these are the guest tools, you would need the client tools
as well, which in legacy mode require some proprietary
3rdparty software (hence it is legacy)

 3. i recommend trying the new native mode (i.e, which spice
 client supports, open source based).

 3. to try the new native mode, I should upgrade oVirt version ?

Those RHEV packages should be removed
 The latest 3.1 should work.

 Thanks,

OK, is there any similar package from oVirt to windows guest ?

spice native usb doesn't need anything in the guest

I switch to native and the same error doesn't allow to start the VM

Make sure you do not have java process running, if you have, just kill it.

 remove:
 /var/run/ovirt-engine*
 /var/lib/ovirt-engine
 /var/log/ovirt-engine
 /var/cache/virt-engine
 /etc/ovirt-engine

remove all packages, and install them again, or simply reinstall
 'ovirt-engine*'

 Alon.

I killed a java proces that was running, removed everything (except
/var/cache/virt-engine that didn't exist), then removed all ovirt-engine*
and reinstall it (yum install) but still happening the same thing.

It's like is trying to stop the overt-engine process that isn't running.

no, that would indeed cause the same problem.
it is just that 3.5 isn't normally a centos kernel (i may have missed it

No, you hadn´t missed anything, I was just checking. Thanks.

Andres - these rpms are maintained in a separate repo, not sure they

Hi !! First, thanks all for the replies.

As I didn't know hoy to convert an storage domain to export, what I did is
to reinstall the all-in-one, create the 2 VMs and then make a dd from the
old image to the new one created.

Just in case, how can I convert an storage domain to an export ?

Thanks.

2012-09-06 Thread Andres Gonzalez
Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your reply. Regarding the live snapshot I'm using VDSM 4.1, but
I'm getting an error and looks like a qemu version problem. Could it be ?

The best way to make a VM backup is to make an export right ?

Name: vdsm
Arch: x86_64
Version : 4.10.0
Release : 0.42.13.el6
Size: 2.3 M

 Hi Andres,

The issue you're encountering when exporting a VM is indeed a bug - should
be fixed in the next oVirt release.
Regarding live snapshots, if you're using VDSM 3.1 then it should work
 without any additional upgrading...
We don't support live VM exporting yet (i.e. cloning a VM from snapshot
 directly to an export domain),
please feel free to open a RFE on that.

 Daniel

 Hello !!

I'm wondering if it's possible to import a VM disk on qcow2 format
on oVirt to use it as a VM hard disk.
The idea is to import a VMWare (vmdk) o Xen (ova) virtual hdd on
 oVirt.

As far as i remember, there is no way to import just a disk,
 only vm/template.
i guess you could find a way to create an OVF to represent a vm that
 attached to that disk,
import it and then detach the disk from the fake vm

but you don't need to convert the vmdk to qcow2 necessarily - take a look
at virt-v2v to do this for you, including changing drivers, etc.

As could could see virt-v2v converts VMWare ESX/ESXi VMs, but I have on
VMWare Server 2.x.
Also I have Citrix XenServer VMs.

[Users] VM Tools

2012-07-09 Thread Andres Gonzalez
Hi !!

Reading the oVirt installation guide says that when a local ISO storage
domain is configured during installation the virtio-win ISO and Virtual
Floppy Drive (VFD) images, containing the VirtIO drivers for Windows
virtual machines, are automatically copied to the new storage domain.
The rhev-tools-setup
ISO, containing the oVirt Guest Tools for Windows virtual machines are also
copied to the domain.

I'm running oVirt under FC 16, and I don't have those packages installed,
what could it be ?

I downloaded from
http://alt.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/virtio-win/latest/images/bin/ the iso
file but it doesn't have the floppy file (useful for the Windows setup
installation) and also drivers for Windows 2008.

Under RHEV when having a Windows VM at the admin GUI you can see what
applications are installed, IP address, who's logged in, etc., on the VM.
This is possible on oVirt too ?

Is there any guest tool for Linux VMs ? (RHEL or CentOS)

Thanks!

Regards.-
