[ovirt-users] Data Center Upgrade to 3.6 fails with "Upgrading a pool while an upgrade is in process is unsupported" - any fix for this ?

Hello All - I'm trying to upgrade a Data Center in ovirt 3.6.4 from 3.4 to 3.6 
but I'm getting this error when I tried:

May 7, 2018 3:07:55 PM VDSM command failed: Upgrading a pool while an upgrade 
is in process is unsupported
(pool: `9667c5e8-97b1-4e09-be44-2696a69f8959`)

Please note that all clusters are already at 3.6 compatability and the final 
step is to upgrade the Data Center to 3.6.
So I've tried these steps as a workaorund from the RHEV tech-doc below but it 
hasn't worked for me:

Deactivate the Export and ISO domains.
Switch SPM to another host.
Try the upgrade again
Activate Export and ISO domains as required.

And I also tried to search mail-archive.com for past Email but didn't find 
anything matching this particular issue.

So has anyone found another way to fix this problem e.g. does the ovirt DB need

First restart the engine. Then try to change the required network to be
non-required and click on RefreshCapabilities on the host.
It should move the host to active state without the need to remove it.

If it doesn't help, please attach your full engine.log and server.log.

Anyway please update your ovirt to version 4.2.3.4, the bug was fixed there.

Hi,

currently I'm evaluating oVirt and I have three hosts installed within 
nested KVM. They're sharing a gluster environment which has been 
configured using the oVirt Node Wizards.
It seems to work quite well, but after some hours I get many status 
update mails from the ovirt engine which are either going to EngineStop 
or EngeineForceStop. Sometimes the host where the engine runs is 
switched. After some of those reboots there is silence for some hours 
before it is starting over. Can you tell me where I should look at to 
fix that problem?

Let's first make sure the configuration is correct.
How did you configure the env? Did you use the automatic engine-setup
configuration?

Can you please send me the output of the following:

on engine:
  ovn-sbctl show
  ovn-nbctl show

on hosts:
  ip addr
  ovs-vsctl show

The 'vdsm-tool ovn-config' command configures the ovn controller to use the
first ip as the ovn central, and the local tunnel to use the second one.

You can check, on all hosts, /var/log/ovirt-hosted-engine-ha/* .

[ovirt-users] sun.security.validator.ValidatorException after update to 4.2.3

Hi,

after upgrade ovirt from 4.2.2 to 4.2.3.5-1.el7.centos I cannot login
into admin portal because

sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed:
sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to
find valid certification path to requested target

I am using custom 3rd party certificate

Any hints how to resolve this issue?

You should query the network to team for sure.

You should also use use the ping command (from the VM) to troubleshoot possible 
MTU problems getting to your infrastructure DNS servers and gateway.

# ping -M do -s 1472 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Starting at 1472 and “walking” the -s up and down will help you determine your 
situation.

If at all possible, you could take the production switches and gateway out of 
the equation with your own isolated gear.

Dear Mr. Zanni:

I have had what I believe to be similar issues.  I am in no way an expert
or even knowledgeable, but from experience I have found this to work:
dd if=/tmp/ovirt-node-ng-installer-ovirt-4.2-2018050417.iso of=/dev/sdb
This command assumes that you are on CentOS or similar; assumes that your
USB stick is at "/dev/sdb"; assumes that you have placed the ISO you want
to image the USB stick with at "/tmp/"; and assumes that the name of your
ISO is " ovirt-node-ng-installer-ovirt-4.2-2018050417.iso" (most likely it
will be something different)

Again, I am not that knowledgeable, but I have not found the directions on
the oVirt website imaging Node to a USB stick to work for me, nor have I
had success (with Node only) with the usually great Rufus.

I installed the ovirt node to standalone interfaces, then created the 
bond via the ovirt-node webui at port 9090, before adding the node to 
the cluster.


The DHCP server happens to be in the same subnet but no, I can't ping it 
as I can't ping anything beyond the physical interfaces of the hosts.


I've added a third host and can also ping that from the VM on node 1.

For a hoot also spun up a new CentOS VM in case this was an OS problem. 
Same results. And when the two VMs are on different hosts, they can't 
ping each other. When I migrate one so they're both on the same host, 
they can each ping each other.

Looks like the physical interface on the host and the virtual interface 
on the VM are both at the default 1500 MTU.


How can I determine the MTU setting for the physical switches without 
admin access to them? Or do I need to ask the network team?

why would you want to use OL? Supposing you do not want to run it together with 
Oracle server.
If you want to pay for OS buy RHEL, at least those $ would be used to improve
