 You probably added the directive to the wrong place, then? Forced
 preferences should go to chrome/defaults/preferences/site.js
 You could add some more prefs to get automatic updates and TB updates as
 well (but most of them are the default anyways):
 || force_bool_pref(extensions.update.auto, true);
 || force_bool_pref(extensions.update.enabled, true);
 || force_bool_pref(app.update.silent, true);
 || force_bool_pref(app.update.enabled, true);
 || force_bool_pref(app.update.auto, true);
 || force_int_pref(app.update.mode, 1);

 Hope, this helps.

Thanks, this helped a lot but I still had the same not builtin
problem. After analysing the source code from thunderbird sources I
finally found two additional settings. now I have

force_bool_pref(app.update.cert.requireBuiltIn, false);
force_bool_pref(extensions.install.requireBuiltInCerts, false);
force_bool_pref(extensions.update.requireBuiltInCerts, false);

in my custom-preferences.js file (want to run it every thunderbird
start). the extension.update did not the trick, but extension.install
did. Now thunderbird 10esr is able to automatically update sogo and
lightning extensions from my private server.

 Ah, and one more thing: intermediate(*) CAs need to be either in TB cert store
 or in the cert chain the web server presents to the client...

 (*) just in case you're using a root ca that issued a web server ca that
 is used to sign server certificates. But if you're running your own pki
 you most probably know what you're doing... ;-)

I don't know enough here. I have set up some ssl servers with my own CA
but as I use it for my family only I only use one root certificate. So
there is no chain involved. This is more a test and play environment.

Originally I was looking for z-push to do everything being as I was not aware of the CalDAVSync plugin/app for android and that iOS devices supported the SOGo caldav directly so easily. However since I now know this I am fine doing it this way and just simply looking for email support. If we could get a complete all-in-one ActiveSync setup that worked flawlessly I would not be against using it. Since our circumstances dictate everything has to go through port 80 and/or 443 we are pretty much at the mercy of ActiveSync and similar protocols.

As for you saying z-push 1.5.8 RC does push email, is it a true push or just polls every minute or so?

[SOGo] Reminder email

2012-03-21 Thread Albert Shih
Hi all.

When we create a reminder email for a event, we received a email. But this
email is very hard to understand.

The subject and the body of the email is the name of the event. They are no
date, no comments, event don't have something like «This is a reminder
email».

So generally peoples received this email don't understand what it is.

Any method to change that ?

Regards.

 i may be mistaken, but i don't think so. activesync doesn't support it.

Hi,

have a look at the z-push backend developed for the kolab server [1] for an
example of both points you mentioned:
a) they support so called folder mode, synchronizing multiple calendars and
address books to compatible (according to their wiki, currently only Apple)
devices. This means that multiple calendars/address books are not merged into
one but instead are being kept as multiple calendar/address book folders on the
mobile. This also means that the active sync protocol supports multiple folders.
b) What I was originally thinking about when I asked the question was merging
several calendars or address books on the server side into one on the
mobile/client side, similar to how it is being done in sogo for funambol
syncml-synchronizations for calendars already.
A perfect implementation in my point of view would support both modes of
operation. This is what is currently available for the kolab server.

Best regards
Heiner
