[SOGo] Why not use Samba4 as LDAP?
Hi, I am going through documentation and doing test setups (many) for a while to be able to use Sogo's native outlook connection feature. My problem is not mainly for the setup or configuration but to figure out the best suitable underlying architecture. The documentation says Samba4 is required for native outlook support, if an ldap server or AD is in-place as a user directory the sync scripts are not provided and also says Samba4 can act as an ldap server. If I am starting from scratch, why would I bother with a separate ldap server, since Samba4 is sort of an ldap server and a requirement anyway. Right? I guess not. I have checked Sogo's ZEG and a separate ldap server is implemented. I have also took a quick look at Zenytal Server 3.3, which includes sogo and openchange in order to provide native outlook connection feature and they have also implemented a separate ldap server as well. Now I am wondering what could I have been missing? Why would I want to go with an additional ldap server if Samba4 can act as one? Thanks... -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists
[SOGo] Ldap vs Mysql
Hi, I have already have a running mail server setup on postfix, dovecot, mysql, roundcube and I am using postfix admin to manage domains users. Now I want to install sogo on this setup. I have two main goals. 1- I want to natively connect some of my outlook users to the mail server. 2- Some of my users need both personal address book as well as the domain wide global address book. And they want to be able to access these two address books through both from their outlooks and also from the webmail. I believe sogo is my solution. I was taking a quick look at the documentation and I have noticed that I will need some sort of an Ldap server to achieve my goals with sogo. How does this supposed to work? I already have a mysql database running the domain and user data. Do I need to first change my current setup and replace mysql with an ldap server, which sounds like a quite task. Please advice... Re: [SOGo] Ldap vs Mysql
Well, that setup is not feasible in my situation. At our company we use a mixed setup: * internal (company) users - auth. against AD/LDAP - Email-Adr., aliases, data are in database * external users - auth. against database - Email-Adr., aliases, data are in database * technical users (if needed) - auth. against database (if needed) - Email-Adr, data in database * Groups planned to store in database, but low prio. We are happy, it es flexible as we need it and our AD/LDAP is clean from other than MS schemas. Database is MySQL, AD from Win Server 2012, SOGo runs on an Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. -- Greetings, Martin Rabl -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists
[SOGo] Sogo on Ubuntu 13.10
Hi, I want to install Sogo on Ubuntu 13.10. I know that it is not supported but 12.04 comes with Dovecot v.2.0.x and 13.10 comes with v.2.1.x. There are some new features in newer Dovecot which I believe I can take advantage of. That is why I want to install Sogo on Ubuntu 13.10. When I try to install I get some weird dependency errors. Like it says libgnustep-base1.22 or newer required. I have libgnustep-base1.24 installed but somehow dependencies are not met. Call me adventurous but if it requires a little extra work to workaround the installation step, I am up for it. As long as I know how. Anyone tried to install it on Ubuntu 13.10? Please let me know what you think... Thanks -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists
[SOGo] Personal and Global Address Book
Hi, My new client is a small office of 5 users. They are all seasoned Exchange Server MS Outlook users. They left their big enterprise and started their own company. Right now, they are using Outlook 2013 and problematic email service and not-so-user-friendly webmail from Godaddy. By time, I fiured that some of the problems are because of Outlook 2013's poor IMAP implementation. They are pressing me to find them a cost effective alternative solution. They are not willing to replace Outlook 2013 with another client. They are not using features like Calendar, Task or mailbox sharing or such but they want to have 1 personal address book and 1 domain global address book, which are also available to them when they are using the webmail. I have setup an email server with postfix, dovecot, myself, roundcube on ubuntu. I showed them the roundcube interface, which they liked. Since I havent done the switch yet, I have no idea how well dovecot's IMAP service will work with Outlook 2013. And I have no idea how I can provide them those 2 address book solutions which would be available both on Outlook 2013 and on webmail. I am not sure if I can use LDAP to achieve what I am looking for. And even if I can, then I have no idea how to do that. Then I heard about sogo. Now I am thinking sogo might be my solution. Even I might get rid of the IMAP and connect my clients to the server natively. What do you think? Thanks... -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists
