[SOGo] Lightning and Email Alerts

2012-04-25 Thread bill.roberts
Hi Everyone,

I've searched Google, the SOGo forum, documentation and FAQ for an answer to
this - but with no luck.

I've enabled email alerts on my SOGo 1.3.14 and they work well. I can set up
an event through the SOGo Web Interface with an email alert and I receive the
email alert.

I'm also using Thunderbird with Lightning and I have no option to set up an
email alert through the Lightning New Event dialog. Is there a setting I have
missed or some other reason for this?

Lightning shows events with email alerts with a small envelope icon so it is
aware of the alert type - I just can't use Lightning to add or change email
alerts.

I'm not using the SOGo Connector nor the Integrator if that makes any
difference.

Regards,

[SOGo] iCal freebusy

2011-08-10 Thread bill.roberts
Hi Everyone,

I've successfully installed SOGo 1.3.8a and first off I'd like to compliment
everyone involved on a great project. SOGo is exactly what we've been looking
for.

So far I've got the web interface working and a shared address book set up.
Authentication is against our LDAP server. Thunderbird/Lightning work well
too.

I can do freebusy searches from the web interface and Lightning but I cannot
get this to work with Apple iCal 4.04. The iCal freebusy search finds the
person I want to invite but does not find their freebusy information.

I've read the mailing list archive, hunted through the documentation and FAQs
but haven't found anything that helps me. I've turned on debugging but haven't
found anything obvious (not that I know what I'm looking for).

Has anyone got freebusy working with Apple iCal? If you have, how did you do
it?

Regards,

Bill Roberts

Re: Re: [SOGo] iCal freebusy

Hi Francis,

Thanks for the suggestion but that doesn't seem to be the solution. The iCal
invite attendees seach finds the people and I can see the search in my LDAP
logs. I think iCal then queries the sogod (I'm trying to understand the debug
log entries). But no free-busy information is displayed.

One thing I've noticed which may be related to iCal is this error message in my
sogo log:

Aug 12 17:43:24 sogod [32338]: [ERROR]
0x0A4F9748[SOGoAppointmentFolder]:personal DAV property
'{urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:caldav}schedule-tag' has no matching SQL field,
response could be incomplete

This doesn't appear every time i try to do a free-busy search but there are
quite a lot of them in the log. Googling gave me a hint that this could be
iCal related.

I'd really like to know if there is *anyone* using iCal 4 against SOGo 1.3.8a
and has a working free-busy lookup. The fact that I've got it working for the
web interface and Lightning makes me think I'm missing some small tweak
required for iCal.

Cheers,

Bill

Re: Re: [SOGo] iCal freebusy

2011-08-15 Thread bill.roberts
Hi Francis,

I did as you suggested and looked at the traffic on port 2. A free-busy
query from Lightning showed traffic, but a free-busy lookup from iCal produced
no traffic! So I started again - removed all my iCal prefs, plists, etc. Then
when I re-added my SOGo account, I noticed a message in the preferences pane:

The server where this account is located doesn't allow you to see
availability

Googling this was not much help.

This looks like a permission problem, but I _can_ do availability searches with
Lightning and the SOGo web interface.

So maybe it's a configuration problem on the server? It's possible that I've
done something stupid. My thinking is that it's probably the web server. I've
read elsewhere that iCal might need some special Alias or Proxy or WO entry?

Cheers,

Bill

I think I've worked out what I've been doing wrong, but it's a longish story...

Forgive me if most of this is well-known, but it's taken me a while to put it
together - mostly because things I did have muddied the waters and I couldn't
see where I'd gone wrong.

AddressBook.app on the Mac allows you to do a CardDAV connection to address
books on the SOGo server. Great. So you fire up iCal and enter a name in
your event invitee list and the search returns nothing. iCal can't find
contacts in a CardDAV address book configured in AddressBook.app. Where things
get confusing (and I was confused!) is that iCal seems to cache some contacts
so it might find some people from your cache that you also know are in your
CardDAV address book, so you think it's partially working. Bummer.

Undaunted, you use Directory Manager and add details of your LDAP server as a
Contacts lookup. You notice that iCal looks for a few special Apple LDAP
attributes so you add them to your LDAP and all of a sudden, lookups work in
iCal. But free-busy lookups don't work. It turns out this is because iCal
does a second request to your LDAP asking for a whole lot of other special
Apple attributes that you don't have (and never will) so free-busy fails.

The end result is that free-busy does work against the SOGo server, but only
for contacts that iCal can find in the On My Mac section of the
AddressBook.app address books.

Cheers,

Hi Ludovic,

I've voted on those three bugs.

I've just replaced an old Sun WCAP calendar system with SOGo and we are very
happy. Fantastic web interface, proper support for mobile devices and easy to
use. Thank you to everyone involved for a great package!

Cheers,

Bill Roberts
