Re: [xwiki-users] xWiki Behind Apache Mod_Proxy. https -> http

2008-08-22 Thread Auro Florentino

Hi Stefan!

Our Jetty instance is now configured to work with ssl.

The real implementation problem here is that now we have two ssl layers,
that increases cpu usage and loading times.

BTW, now our XEM install is working for multiple wikis/vhosts.

Thanks in advance Stefan.

Regards,

Auro

Ok, I managed to get it to work now. The problem was that I did not see the
"Unregistered User" user as it is the same color as the header :P Thanks a

hmm you're right... it has disappeared. I think it's a bug since I
remember very clearly discussing it with Jean-Vincent and we had
agreed to keep them.

Could you please open a jira issue for this?

We're working on it right now but it isn't finished yet. Once the module is
out it will be published in the release notes.

Looks like a closing is missing somewhere... Since it's happening on
all pages I guess this must be related to a panel that is present on all
those pages... Could you try to identify where the is missing using a
tool such as firebug so that we can correct it ?

It's an extra or missing somewhere in there (invalid xhtml).

Hi,

It is not possible directly, because:

1. There is no way to instruct the browser to filter files yet
2. The UploadPlugin does not have an option to limit file types, but
since it is a plugin, it is written in Java, and it is Open Source, you
could modify it to suit your needs.

The upload plugin is not in a separate module, but inside xwiki-core.

Does does it all rely on the drag and drop now?

3. Has anyone done Site Minder integration for the authentication? The Admin

no details.

4. Any news on the "Rating" feature please? would like to allow users to

5. I deployed the Bulletin Application. After I posted an article on the

Re: [xwiki-users] [Request for Feedback] New WYSIWYG Editor Interface

2008-08-22 Thread Guillaume Lerouge
Hi,
I've updated the page on
http://dev.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Design/NewWysiwygEditorInterface with
new mockups to take into account the use cases I had forgotten about.

1) Link menu item:
> >> * How do we add a link to an email address?

I added the menu entry.

> >> * How do we add a link to a generic URI?

I don'th think adding a custom link dialog box is a good idea. Most users
won't understand what it's useful for. Users who really want to link to a
"generic URI" can do so using the webpage link button anyway (since you can
input any http URI in there) or the wiki mode. Alternatively, we could
provide that menu item only for advanced users.

> * How do we add an interwiki link?
>

I've added the missing input fields for inter wiki links. They will be
displayed only if the wiki is on a wiki farm.

I've added a "Browse Macros" button and the corresponding dialog box. We'll
need to make a choice on the macros we want to display by default in the
quick access list.

> You didn't comment on the missing multiwiki feature. Do you agree?

I added the wiki filter where appropriate. I had forgotten about it. I think
it should only be displayed if the wiki is part of a wiki farm though.

The rationale behind this choice is that dialog boxes should not be bloated
with features. They should give access only to the most important thing : in
this case, inserting a link. Detailed property edition can take place
afterwards if the user really wants / needs to do it. It matches the dialog
box / tray model we discussed earlier on the list where "big" actions go in
dialog boxes and "small" ones in trays.

Thanks,
Guillaume

2008-08-22 Thread goldring, richard
Guillamume,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes we could use the macro for layout ... but if the layout could be set out
WYSIWYG/DTP style by inserting and dragging columns and row to get the
width/height by eye it would make it easier for users to use and much better
than any other wiki editor out on the web ... but how hard/easy to code I
don't know!

Hi Richard,

Resizing the entire table will be possible by grabbing a corner. As for cell
heigth and width, I'd say it might be better to let the html rendering
handle column size depending of the content of table cells. About the layout
of wiki pages, what about creating a couple presentational macros (such as
this one : http://code.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Macros/ColumnMacro ) to
create CSS-based layouts instead of table-based ones ?

I can try adding a control for table border / background color... Maybe not
in the first version though, I'll look at that.

Would the iframe macros (
http://code.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Macros/IframeMacro &
http://code.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Macros/IframeNavigationMacro ) and the
include macros (
http://code.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Macros/IncludeInContextMacro &
http://code.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Macros/IncludeTopicMacro ) suit your
needs ? They will be available from the WYSIWYG interface.

Thanks for your feedback,

Guillaume

Hi Richard,

Looks good.

Thanks :-)

Resizing the entire table will be possible by grabbing a corner. As for cell
heigth and width, I'd say it might be better to let the html rendering
handle column size depending of the content of table cells. About the layout
of wiki pages, what about creating a couple presentational macros (such as
this one : http://code.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Macros/ColumnMacro ) to
create CSS-based layouts instead of table-based ones ?

I can try adding a control for table border / background color... Maybe not
in the first version though, I'll look at that.

Would the iframe macros (
http://code.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Macros/IframeMacro &
http://code.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Macros/IframeNavigationMacro ) and the
include macros (
http://code.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Macros/IncludeInContextMacro &
http://code.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Macros/IncludeTopicMacro ) suit your
needs ? They will be available from the WYSIWYG interface.

Thanks for your feedback,

Guillaume

Re: [xwiki-users] [Request for Feedback] New WYSIWYG Editor Inter face

2008-08-22 Thread goldring, richard
Guillaume,

Looks good.

A few points:

* Tables
- is it possible to make tables WYSIWYG editable so the user can grab a
table, row, column, cell and resize them. For layout of wiki pages it would
make it much quicker and easier to create great looking wiki pages.
- is it possible to control the formatting of tables to make them invisible
(for layout purposes).
* Frames
- is it possible to add frames to display others web pages or wiki pages on
the wiki page being edited?

Keep on coding.

All the best,

Richard

Subject: [xwiki-users] [Request for Feedback] New WYSIWYG Editor
Interface

Hi fellow XWiki users,
I've spent the last couple weeks working on designing mockups for the new
version of the WYSIWYG editor that's currently in the works.

I've put all my work on this page :
http://dev.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Design/NewWysiwygEditorInterface

and I'd be glad to gather initial user feedback on these mockups. Please
tell us what you think about them now so that we can improve the screens
before implementation begins at full speed.

Specifically, I'm wondering about the following things :

   - Can the text be improved to make things easier to understand ? If so,
   where ?
   - Are some features harder to reach than they should ?
   - Are dialog boxes & trays consistent with user models of how edition
   software usually behaves ?
   - Do you see anything that will make an user wonder what's happening and
where he / she should click next ?

Please note that the colors are only indicative at this stage - a designer
will improve my work before we get to the final stage. I'll try incorporate
your feedback soon and will let you know how the subseuent development goes.

Thanks in advance,

Guillaume
