Re: [xwiki-users] Import of XAR: Java Heap Space Out Of Memory Exception in 1.2

2009-10-12 Thread walido

Hi,

aie,aie,..
that's a real bad news for me, because i was counting on that
but is there a solution to change the configuration of hsql, to put tables
in files for example directly on disk not on memory or to extend the size of
the memory allowed to him ( i can get a 4Go of RAM for my PC)
or if i have to switch to another database is there a solution to migrate my
hsql database with its contents to the new database mysql.
thanks so much for helping me it's so important for the job
thank you

[xwiki-users] Error number 4001 while using blogs

2009-10-12 Thread Hermes, Lars
Hello,

we've started using XWiki in our company. For evaluation we've used XWiki on
Tomcat with a MYSQL DB and everything worked fine. But after we've set up our
future environment also on Tomcat but using MS SQL Server as DB we've getting
the following error messages in the blog space:

Error number 4001 in 4: Error while parsing velocity page Blog.WebHome

Wrapped Exception: Failed to evaluate content with id Web
Homehttp://adewki00.de.festo.net/xwiki/bin/view/Blog/

com.xpn.xwiki.XWikiException: Error number 4001 in 4: Error while parsing
velocity page Blog.WebHome
...

Doing further examinations we've found that the embedded SQL is causing the
exception. In the conditional part there test to inequality () is replaced by
entities (#60;#62;). The exception is thrown in Xwiki 1.9.3 as also in Xwiki
2.0 and can't be reproduced on local installation so that our assumption is
that the issue has something to do with the usage of MS SQL Server.

For this case our questions are:

1.) Is there anybody using also MS SQL Server with Xwiki? If yes are there
the same exceptions thrown?

2.) Is there a possibility to fix the error by ourselves in modifying the
respective template? Where or how do we find the template?

Thanks in advance and best regards
Lars

I'm not aware of that many people using XWiki with MS SQL. If you have a

[xwiki-users] Migration of JSPWiki to XWiki

2009-10-12 Thread Rodrigues Adelino
Dear all (Bonjour à tous),

We would like to migrate our JSPWiki installation to Xwiki 2.0. The deployment
of the war file, the configuration with our Oracle database and the uploading
of the content XAR file went smoothly.

For this migration to succeed, we need to migrate our JSPwiki content to xwiki.
The best information I found on that was that page:
http://code.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extensions/JSPWikiToXWikiExtension

Unfortunately after following all the instructions, this piece of code failed
in the following sections:
1) Invoking the 2 argument constructor below was throwing an exception
this.xwiki = new com.xpn.xwiki.XWiki(config, this.context);

2) After changing this to invoke the default constructor, the code threw an
exception when setting up WikiEngine.

Is this still the way to migrate JSWiki content to Xwiki? If yes could someone
help us to investigate the errors?

Best regards, Adelino

Hi Guillaume,

thanks for your answer, but unfortunately using another DB than MS SQL Server
is no option as for some reasons (centralized administration, backup strategy
and maybe others?!).
Personally I've also decided to use Mysql but no one asked me ;-)

Maybe let us be the first power users using XWiki with SQL Server. We are
definitely willing to give some input to the community but we initially need
some helping hands to get started.

Cheers, Lars

[xwiki-users] playground authentication issue

2009-10-12 Thread roman.friesen
Hi,

if I'm logged in at dev.xwiki.org and call
http://playground.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/WebHome
the following error occurs:
You are not allowed to view this document or perform this
action.
If I log out, the error doesn't occur and I can see the Playground Main
page.
If I I create (register) an extra user for playground.xwiki.org (with
the same user id), it woks well.

It's a little bit confusing...

Hi Roman,

Nice initiative, we need to organize better and generally improve our docs.

Quick remark : the valid english is Common Usage, Advance Usage, not
Using.

I think the Common Usage (should we say Basic Usage ?) section would
benefit from a short introduction explaining that XWiki is a wiki, and
what a wiki is, before the list of links.
I would say the Understanding XWiki section could be located just
after Common Usage, as it is still information basic users
can/should read (as opposed to Advance Usage).

Programming of the Content sounds a bit weird, but the idea is there.
Why not Programming in the wiki ?

Hope this helps,
Jerome

Re: [xwiki-users] [docs] draft: XE main documentation page

2009-10-12 Thread roman.friesen
Hi Ludovic,

this page should be just an entry point (main overview) for the available
documentation. Therefore, I think, only humans can decide whether links are
good or bad :)

But probably this plugin can be used to create a page index - an additional
page. This page could be very helpful, not only for users, but also to see what
is the current structure of the documentation = this could help to restructure
that. What do you think?

P.S. current documentation runs on different wikis:
- platform.xwiki.org
- dev.xwiki.org
- enterprise.xwiki.org
- code.xwiki.org
Can the collections plugin handle that? Or just for every wiki one index page?

Thanks,
Roman

We could use the Table of Content which is managed by the collections
plugin.
I could do some modifications to it to make it more usable for xwiki.org.

We would need to decide exactly how we would like it to behave:

1/ Start from the Space home page or only start from the parent of the
current page
2/ How many levels do we want to go down
3/ Do we want to follow all links down or do we want to filter some
   - filter the one that are not in the same space
   - follow only direct childs (that have the page as parent)
   - do not follow links that would be marked as a reference (in this
case we need to add a property to these links)

Re: [xwiki-users] xwiki 2.0 issues

2009-10-12 Thread Guillaume Lerouge
Hi Hel,
actually I think there is a fix for your title issue if you really want to
get back to the old behavior:

   1. Go to XWiki.XWikiSkins
   2. Go to Edit  Class
   3. Use the panel on the right to add a TextArea property named
   contentview.vm
   4. Save the page
   5. Go to your skin page (usually XWiki.DefaultSkin unless you changed it)
   6. Go to Edit  Objects
   7. Click to edit the XWiki.XWikiSkins object
   8. Scroll to the bottom of the page
   9. There is an empty field named contentview.vm located at the bottom.
   Paste the following code into it:

###
### Display document contents in view mode.
###
### TODO: Web service?
###
div id=xwikicontent
## ---
## Compute the content to display
## ---
## Honor the syntax if it's passed in the request.
#set($outputSyntax =
$xwiki.getAvailableRendererSyntax($request.outputSyntax,
$request.outputSyntaxVersion))
#if ($outputSyntax)
  ## If the passed syntax is not an HTML-compatible syntax we need to
HTML-escape it so that it can be
  ## displayed fine in HTML (since at the point this vm file is called
we're already inside an HTML page with
  ## panels on the side, header, etc).
  #set($syntaxType = $outputSyntax.type.toIdString())
  #if (($syntaxType == xhtml) || ($syntaxType == html))
#set ($renderedContent = $cdoc.getRenderedContent($outputSyntax))
  #else
## Make sure to print correctly the result when it's not HTML
#set ($renderedContent =
pre$escapetool.html($cdoc.getRenderedContent($outputSyntax))/pre)
  #end
#else
  #set ($renderedContent = $cdoc.getRenderedContent())
#end
##
## Compute title to display and modify rendered content accordingly.
##
###template(titlevars.vm)
##
## Display the title
##
##div id=document-titleh1$titleToDisplay/h1/div
##
## Display the rendered content
##
$renderedContent
##
---
## Display the footnotes if the document is in 1.0 syntax and if there
are any defined
##
---
#set($footnotes = #putFootnotes())
$xwiki.renderText($footnotes, $doc)
/div

   1. Save the page
   2. Force-refresh any page on your wiki
   3. You should be back to the old behavior :-)

Let me know if this worked for you,

 In fact i think you are right, cause the title was not used as page title

 Still sometimes it may be necessary to have a short title for the

[xwiki-users] Installing components

2009-10-12 Thread breeden

Hi,

I'm new to XWiki (and Maven, for that matter) and would like to write a
component. I've gone through the Writing XWiki Components tutorial and the
Building XWiki from sources page and also found this helpful post:
http://n2.nabble.com/Components-in-XWiki-td2621693.html#a2621693.  I
generated the sample org.xwiki.component.HelloWorld component from the
archetype in the tutorial, compiled it using the Maven Eclipse plugin, then
dropped the jar in my WEB-INF\lib. But when I try to load the component
with the sample script:

{{groovy}}
def greeter =
com.xpn.xwiki.web.Utils.getComponent(org.xwiki.component.HelloWorld.class);
{{/groovy}}

I get exceptions saying Failed to load component
[org.xwiki.component.HelloWorld] for hint [default] and Can't find
descriptor for the component [role = [org.xwiki.component.HelloWorld] hint =
[default]]

I've also tried adding the @ComponentRole and @Component annotations (with
no hints) to HelloWorld.java and DefaultHelloWorld.java which weren't there
before, and also adding org.xwiki.component.HelloWorld to the plugins in
xwiki.cfg, but this doesn't seem to change anything.

What am I missing to successfully load the component?

Much thanks,
David Breeden
