more qmail+vpopmail problem.
I've just got qmail and vpopmail installed and I'm seeing strange things. I've the following : - real user, real host (/etc/passwd) : [EMAIL PROTECTED] - virtual user and virtual domain : [EMAIL PROTECTED] The /var/qmail/control/locals has the following localhost localhost.localdomain sol.oficina.es The /var/qmail/control/rcpthosts has the following localhost localhost.localdomain oficina.es The /var/qmail/control/virtualdomains has the following oficina.es:oficina.es I can send and receive mails to and from both the real and virtual user but I always get a reply from the MAILER DAEMON saying that Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.1.1) And the mail actually got delivered! Any clue anyone? Thanks, James

Copy of all user mail
Hi, I am using vpopmail and want to send a copy of all mail sent to and from a particular user to be copied to another user, I can settle for just one way at a push. I have messed around at length with .qmail files in various places but just get weird results. Anyone help?? But to copy all mail that they get to another user, all you have to do is put the address of the other user into the .qmail-username file. like this: email address for mail to be copied to It raises an interesting question though, I dont know about the USA but I know that in the UK theres been an idea around for a while (RIP bill - appropriate title) which could be passed as law, which would require all 'ISPs' to store all users e-mail (that they send and recieve) for 7 years (!) and allow the police or any other relevant authority access to this. Im sure that it would not be possible, and it is definately wrong, but if it happens lots of people will need to modify their MTA software to accomodate this, hopefully it will never get passed but with the launch of a new 'Cyber Crime' department, its still quite possible.
Re: Copy of all user mail
Just to be clear... The user does not have a .qmail-user file (well, just one for their alias). Do I just create one and put copy address in there??. Re: Copy of all user mail
Mmm... I tried the thing, but it appears just to redirect the mail to another user. I need a "silent" copy to another user as well as the mail being sent to the recipient normally. To forward *and* store, you need two instructions, e.g.: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ./Maildir/ See the man page dot-qmail(5) for more details. hope this helps, -- Daniel Biddle [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I would say: Don't do that if you don't have good reason. i have some question about ldap authentication : - i would like to know the benefit of ldap authentication compared to mysql authentication - right now i'm using mysql, if i want to use ldap auth. should i move my user from mysql to ldap ? how to do it ? - is there any effect to sqwebmail and qmailadmin ? thanks for your help, it's nice if you also tell me how 'the taste' of ldap is. -- Ondej Sur [EMAIL PROTECTED] Globe Internet s.r.o. http://globe.cz/ Tel: +420235365000 Fax: +420235365009 Plnikova 1, 162 00 Praha 6 Mob: +420605204544 ICQ: 24944126 Mapa: http://globe.namape.cz/ GPG fingerprint: CC91 8F02 8CDE 911A 933F AE52 F4E6 6A7C C20D F273

Set, for instance: #define QUEUE_EXTRA "Tmsglog\0" #define QUEUE_EXTRALEN 8 Recompile qmail. At this point, *all* messages will also be sent to a user called ``msglog'' on your box. Set up ~alias/.qmail-msglog with delivery instructions for this user. Alternatively, use Bruce Guenter's qmail packages and be done with it. [http://em.ca/~bruceg/qmail+patches/]. Error...
Hello, We have just turned up a new Qmail installation, and cut over all our customers to it. Everything was fine in test, but as more load was put on the system I am seeing the following console message / log entry a *lot*... This system is running on FreeBSD. Apr 19 13:19:15 mailtest /kernel: pid 50336 (vdelivermail), uid 90: exited on signal 11 (core dumped) As far as I can tell, mail is still getting delivered, but I have heard more than a few unexplainable "Soandso sent me an EMail and I never got it" complaints. Any thoughts? Thanks, Dan.
Re: Signal 11 (vdelivermail) Error...
I rather doubt it is RAM The machine is A-1 otherwise, fast as lightenting, and has been in service for a few years this is the only process that ever does this. Perhaps something with the swap though?! Dan. Do you have any diagnostic tools you can use to check your RAM? Dan Mahoney [EMAIL PROTECTED]

restoring vpasswd from vpasswd.cdb
Hi! My vpasswd file got wiped out and what's left is the vpasswd.cdb file. Does anyone know of any ways to recover the vpasswd file from vpasswd.cdb? Anyway, what are the possible reason why the file disappeared in the first place? I'm using vpopmail-4.9.6-1 / sqwebmail-0.34a. Which one of the above causes it? cheers! /shaoming
vpopmail account | external program
Hi, I am trying to setup a trouble ticket system that requires an e-mail address that pipes its messages to a program. I'm having problems figuring out how exactly I would do this with a vpopmail account. Could somebody point me in the right direction? Thanks, Eli Katzenmeyer
