For a mysql site you would need something like: [kbo@gpl etc]$ more inc_deps -I/home/vpopmail/include [kbo@gpl etc]$ more lib_deps -L/home/vpopmail/lib -lvpopmail -L/usr/lib/mysql -lmysqlclient -lz Adjust the -L value to match your mysql settings. Instead of linking directly to "http://www.inter7.com/qmailadmin/"; what would eventually send the referrer to 'www.inter7.com' link to e.g. http://localhost/cgi-bin/qmailadmin/com/redirect/http%3A%2F%2Fwww.inter7.com%2Fqmailadmin%2F 'http://localhost/cgi-bin/qmailadmin' is of course the location of local qmailadmin installation (should be know to the cgi, shouldn't it *g*) As you can see the 'normal' parameters 'user', 'time' & 'dom' are not present so they can not be given in the referrer string. function 'com->redirect' in qmailadmin now simply take the '$PATH_INFO' (which is a standard Apache Environment variable), strips the leading '/' and URL-decodes it. Than is does a simple Header-301 (Location changed) to the resulting string and the client goes redirected. HTH, for further questions don't hesitate to write :-) -- Best regards Peter Palmreuthermailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

How do you create a table? I have done as the readme, I do not have a any user on the it is a new install, How do I get started with a table? Kevin
~vpopmail/etc
Hi, I saw on www.inter7.com that ~vpopmail/etc/ should contain two files : lib_deps and inc_deps. But on my system this directory is empty. And because of this (I think), I can't compile qmailadmin because during the process gcc can't find the librairies needed. So my question is, what do I have to put in this directory ? thanx a lot Iceman

Ahh. I understand now. I tested it with my local server here is what shows up in the http logs: 209.218.8.89 - - [01/Aug/2001:13:07:43 -0500] "GET / HTTP/1.0" 200 639 "http://127.0.0.1/cgi-bin/qmailadmin/com/showusers?user=postmaster&time=996689170&dom=test.com&"; "Mozilla/4.77 [en] (X11; U; Linux 2.4.2-2 i586)" So you are right. The referal information contains the authentication information. But the information can't be used unless the query comes from the same IP as the machine used to log in. So it is useless. However, some people remove the IP restriction to get around NAT and proxy settings. So over all, it is insecure in some cases and not in others. To be on the safe side we should remove the link. Re: sqwebmail 3.0 won't compile:(
Very soon. As far as I know there are no known bugs or new features needed for the cdb and mysql modules. They are stable and ready for 5.0. The oracle, postgresql, sybase and ldap modules are stable but do not support all the new features, like auth logging. xinetd and vpopmail
hello, I'm sorry if this has been answered before. I'm using vpopmail on rh7.1 I wanna know how can use vchkpw with xinetd and roaming users option to allow smtp relaying. I've read the INSTALL and FAQ and have installed vpopmail according to it. The xinetd's pop3 file which i'm using is as follows service pop3 { socket_type = stream protocol= tcp wait= no user= root server = /var/qmail/bin/qmail-popup server_args = bogus.net /var/vpopmail/bin/vchkpw /var/qmail/bin/qmail-pop3d Maildir log_type= FILE /var/log/xinetd.log log_on_success = HOST log_on_failure = HOST RECORD } Now when i telnet on 110 and authenticate on pop3 vpopmail does create open-smtp and lock files but doesn't put anything in it .. -rw-r--r--1 vpopmail vchkpw 0 Aug 1 21:59 open-smtp -rw-rw-rw-1 root root0 Aug 1 21:59 open-smtp.lock -rw-rw-rw-1 root root0 Aug 1 21:59 open-smtp.tmp.3224 -rw-r--r--1 vpopmail vchkpw 30 Aug 1 18:30 tcp.smtp -rw-r--r--1 vpopmail vchkpw 2094 Aug 1 21:59 tcp.smtp.cdb as you see open-smtp file is zero bytes. I just got vpopmail-4.10.30 and compiled and installed with ./configure --enable-roaming-users=y --enable-tcpserver-file=/var/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp --enable-tcprules-prog=/usr/local/bin/t cprules --enable-default-domain=dnsfirm.com --enable-log-name=vpopmail --enable-logging=yv --enable-relay-clear-minute s=180 I then recompiled vpopmail.pm and I "HAD TO REMOVE" the old version, a make install did not overwrite the current vpopmail.pm files on the system. more than 8 chr in the passwd!
I have to transfer some encrypted password from a digital UNIX to vpopmail(vpasswd). I have two type of encrypted password (more than 8 chr and less or equal 8chr) In the first case they are encrypted in a string of 24 chr and in the 2nd case in a string of 13 chr . I have no problem whith users who have a password <= to 8 chr. But for user who have a passwd >8 chr (encrypted password = 24chr) that don't run at all? Is there a solution?

Re: migrating users
hi i write a program for this http://www.EnderUNIX.ORG here is description: --- EnderUNIX Vpwd2SQL is a tool, written in PERL that is used to convert '/etc/shadow or /etc/master.passwd' accounts to vpopmail accounts. It does the conversion this way ; 1. reads /etc/shadow or /etc/master.passwd to extract user information. 2. creates the domain in the MySQL database. 3. creates the accounts in the database, correctly updating the 'passwords in the database' with the existing (shadow) password. 4. If exists, any /var/spool/mail/$user or /var/mail/$user mailboxes are converted to $HOME/Maildir/ mails. 5. changing sqwebmail password (sqwebmail-pass file in $user Maildir directory ) , so $user can login from sqwebmail without any problem bye Ismail YENIGUL http://www.enderunix.org http://yenigul.net On Wed, 1 Aug 2001, KK wrote: > hello Aadish - > > i think u can use the vconvert command found in the > /home-directory-of-vpopmail/bin/ folder to convert ur > accounts to MySql. just read the man page for > vconvert. > > Btw, will u pls let me know how have u been using > /etc/passwd file for email user authentication? I'm not running a free webbased email system. So i create users through shell script which internally uses adduser command. If you want to give other uses root's rights use sudo. hello Aadish - i think u can use the vconvert command found in the /home-directory-of-vpopmail/bin/ folder to convert ur accounts to MySql. just read the man page for vconvert. Btw, will u pls let me know how have u been using /etc/passwd file for email user authentication? How do u dynamically create new email users and append their data to the /etc/passwd file? Do u use the Unix "adduser" command, if yes how do u do it because the adduser command has only "root" permission and any command run from a remote browser runs as "nobody". thanks for any suggestions/help. --- Aadish Shrestha <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi > > I've just configured a fresh mail server with qmail > and vpopmail.
