[vchkpw] Spam issue

2010-03-11 Thread Andrew Simon

Hey everyone,

I've got a qmail, vpopmail, simscan setup. I'm using Spamassassin and
ClamAv. I've set spamassassin to only use English. and placed country
codes in the badmailfrom file. Yet I'm still getting spam from Russia.
In the logs its score is low enough to be passed though. The messages
are in Russian with almost no English characters. Not sure what to do at
this point. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Andrew,

Please do not hijack threads. ;)

I expect that http://spamdyke.org will solve your problem. spamdyke
rejects 80+% of spam without even receiving (or scanning) it.

Found the problem. It was apparmor. If apparmor is enabled on Ubuntu
clamd has issues. Once I disabled apparmor everything worked. Thanks for
all of your help.

Re: [vchkpw] Simscan clamav error

2010-03-01 Thread Andrew Simon

The /var/qmail/simscan directory is set as follows:

drwxr-s--- 2 simscan simscan 4.0K 2010-03-01 08:46 simscan

I've also noticed that everything is working in that mail is going in
and out and getting scanned. I checked the log files and the issue began
Friday 2/26/10 at around 3:00pm EST just after the database reloaded.
Before that it was working properly. I'm really not sure what is going
on. Is there an update or something I don't know about?

I think /var/qmail/simscan directory should be setgid.

Clamav creates files with 600 permissions, so group members can't
access them.

This is from my server:
drwxr-s--- 71 simscan simscan 4096 Mar 1 11:34 simscan

Clamd is running as simscan.

Hi all,

I've just built out a new mail system using vpopmail and simscan on the
latest version of Ubuntu. Everything is working well with one exception.
When I check the clamav.log I see the following error WARNING: lstat()
failed on: /var/qmail/simscan/. /var/qmail/simcan has simscan:simscan as
the owner and the group. And clamav is a member of the simscan group.
And the permission seem correct. Any suggestions ?

Andrew

Hopefully this is the right list for this question.
Just built a new server. When use vqadmin And try to list domains I get I get
"cannot open assign file'. When I try to create a directory I get "Unable to
chdir to vpopmail/domains/domain directory" I have reinstalled and made sure
permission are correct. Any help would be appreciated.

Wanted to thank everyone for their input. It turned out to be an outlook
issue. Once we set it to pop first the problem went away. Thank you Jeremy

perhaps, but the existing patch to tcpserver is extremely tiny, and
doesn't interfere with use for other purposes. i personally don't have a
problem with hacks. otherwise, i wouldn't be running qmail (and the dozen
or more needed hacks for assorted shortcomings, however minor).

[vchkpw] relay, smtp after pop

2006-03-24 Thread Andrew Simon

I am running qmail/courier-map/vpopmail 5.4.2
system. It is working well. However occassionally users get the

"553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed
rcpthosts (#5.7.1)"

Its not all the time. They are outside the office
when this happens. I am using smtp after pop. All the settings are correct as
far as I know. Any input would be helpful.

2003-08-01 Thread Andrew Simon
I just installed vpopmail everything seems to be working well. I can receive
mail. However when I try to send mail I get the following message:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
'xxx.xxx.com', Server: 'xxx.xxx.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL)

I am sure its a simple configuration problem but I can't find it. I have
check my tcpserver setting, made sure that I configured for roaming users,
etc and followed the directions but I still get this. Any help would be
appreciated.
