Re: [vchkpw] RBLs

2004-07-07 Thread Jasper Metselaar
Hello Paul,

Here's my call to the rbl's. i prefer to give some info in the 'FU'
response, to at least give them a clue where to start. we dropped
spamcop a while back, as they were listing some sites that - while
they may at times be sources of spam - are not in the main spam
sites - such as tropica. we had a number of customer complaints
from people who were subscribed to legitimate mailing lists
through tropica, when spamcop did a blanket blacklist of their
 address space. uncool.

 anyway, here's what we use:

 /usr/local/bin/rblsmtpd -C \
 -a whitelist.example.com \
 -r sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org:\
Probable spam connection rejected. Details at
 http://www.spamhaus.org; \ -r list.dsbl.org:\
 Probable spam connection rejected. Details at http://www.dsbl.org;
 \ -r relays.ordb.org:\
Probable spam connection rejected. Details at
 http://www.ordb.org/faq; \ -t10 \
 /var/qmail/bin/qmail-smtpd 21

I didn't know this was possible with rblsmtpd. I couldn't find it
anywhere on the man page. I would love to do this as well, but I would
also like to have the default response from the RBLs included. Is it possible to have
both included in the bounce message?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Kind regards,
Jasper Metselaar

[vchkpw] OT: Using rblsmtpd and postmaster still receiving mail from all (even blacklisted) hosts

they are listed on blacklists. Is there a way to achieve this?

 Hi,

Since rblsmtpd works before the smtpd connection even occurs, it is
not possible to allow email through to a specific account.

 Regards,

 Rick

Thanks Rick, I was afraid for that. :-(
I was looking for a way to allow people to be able to reach me when
they are blocked, so I can explain why they are blocked and help them
to solve it if needed. To bad that rblsmtpd has no option to skip
checking when mail is addressed to a specific address

[vchkpw] Matt Simersons tcpserver-mysql patch how-to??

2003-09-24 Thread Jasper Metselaar
Hi!

I've installed vpopmail on a new server according to the instructions
in the INSTALL file and finally I arrived at point 13:

13. For sites using the mysql module and --enable-roaming-users=y it
is highly suggested to use Matt Simersons tcpserver-mysql patch.
This removes the need for vpopmail to compile a tcp.smtp.cdb file
for each pop authentication. Instead, tcpserver looks directly
into the vpopmail mysql table of IP's.

But the question is: how do I install it??
I searched the list and I looked at Matt's website, but I couldn't find
documentation on this.

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,
Jasper Metselaar

I need to figure out how vpopmail was compiled on an existing
machine, in other words: I need to know which options were used
 with
 ../configure

You should be able to find this informaton in the config.status
file located in the source from which you compiled...

This could be a solution if the source was still on this machine...
but unfortunately this is not the question. :-(There is only a compiled version
running on this machine

Is there someone on the list that understand what's going wrong?

What does your /var/qmail/rc file look like?

# Using stdout for logging
# Using control/defaultdelivery from qmail-local to deliver messages by

exec env - PATH=/var/qmail/bin:$PATH \
qmail-start `cat /var/qmail/control/defaultdelivery`
===END===

/var/qmail/control/defaultdelivery looks like this:

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think it's vpopmail that's dropping it into that file. It
sounds more like mail is being delivered to the vpopmail user on your
local system. What does qmail have for it's double bounce account
(run /var/qmail/bin/qmail-showctl to see) and also what does your
/var/qmail/alias directory look like.. more specifically the .qmail
 files inside it.

[vchkpw] Fallback MTA and vpopmail

2003-07-03 Thread Jasper Metselaar
Hi,

I used to have a domain running with vpopmail, qmailadmin and vqadmin.
Now the owner of the domain asked to deliver his mail to another
mailserver and to configure my server as a fallback MTA for that domain.
E.g.
IN MX 10 mail.domain-owner.com.
IN MX 100 mail.mymailserver.com.

How should I setup the domain so that my server becomes a fallback and
that it delivers the e-mail to the primary mailserver when it is available
again (in case the primary mailserver is off-line)?
Thanks for any suggestions!

[vchkpw] Aliases not working with maildrop spamassassin?

2003-06-05 Thread Jasper Metselaar
Hi,

I have a real [EMAIL PROTECTED] which is tagged for spam checking. The .qmail-default
contains

| /usr/local/bin/maildrop mailfilter file

which calls maildrop and in mailfilter, runs through spamd to check for spam then pass
it back to vdelivermail to deliver to the proper mailbox. Then I created a [EMAIL
PROTECTED], which is an alias to [EMAIL PROTECTED] A .qmail-test is created which
points to mydomain.com/user/Maildir. When an email
is sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED], qmail just dumps it directly into user's
mailbox, completely out of the spam checking task.

Shouldn't the .qmail-test file's content be the same as the .qmail-default file?
How do you enable alias to behave the same as the account that it's aliased to? Of
course I can use a forwarder to [EMAIL PROTECTED] instead, but I don't think this is
the best wayor?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
