You must be sure your smtp server does not allow internals to relay.
Probably you must disable default allowed relay for internals and set up
auth smtp.

vmoduser -r [EMAIL PROTECTED]

sets no external relay flag - which means the user should not be able to
send mails to external domains. However this needs to be done for each
user. I am not sure if there is a concept of groups in vpopmail.

Re: [vchkpw] vpopmail server to server migration

2007-11-26 Thread Kenny Lee
before you copy the domains directory into the new server, i think you should
create the domains users by using the proper way first. Then you only copy
the domains directory to replace the existing one.

Dear all,my current vpopmail server is showing some signs of hardware failure
so i'm trying to migrate all of my users account and domains to a new server.
current vpopmail server version is 5.3.6 and vpopmail version in the new server
is 5.4.13here's what i've done :1. dump vpopmail database from current server
to the new server2. recursively copy domains directory from current server to
the new server (vpopmail path of current and new server are the same)3. then
when i tried to do vuserinfo someuser, here's the error :vmysql: sql error[3]:
Table 'vpopmail.users' doesn't exist seems to me that the error occurred
because the vpopmail database structure are different between 5.3.6 and 5.4.13,
am i correct? what should i do to have a smooth migration? i've tried google
but nothing detail comes up so far:(regards,greg

Yes, changed it through qmailadmin and very simple
password. Still same problems. Permissions on the
folders are correct with vpopmail:vchkpw as owners.

Re: [vchkpw] Quota Excess Notification

2007-10-26 Thread Kenny Lee

Hi Dhaval,

i have created a file called .quotawarn.msg inside the folder
/home/vpopmail/domains/ ...

and i also set the permission to vpopmail.vchkpw
-rw-r--r--  1 vpopmail vchkpw  467 Oct 26 13:08 .quotawarn.msg

==Content of the file==
From: Mail Delivery System [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
To: User:;
Subject: Mail quota warning
Mime-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

Dear  Mail User,

Your mailbox on the server is now more than 90% full. So that if you still
want your mailbox able to receive mail, you need to remove some messages
from your mailbox (Delete Purge messages ).

Thank you

Regards,
System Administrator
== End of Content==

after i have setup all of the things, i tried to push in the mail to hit 90%
quota, i still unable to get the msg ...

i have read the README.quotas and found that we need to modify the
vdelivermail.c and re-compile. Do i need to modify the file? i have checked
the file and below is one of the part related to QUOTA_WARN_PERCENT

===part of the file vdeivermail.c==
if (QUOTA_WARN_PERCENT = 0
   vmaildir_readquota(address, format_maildirquota(quota))
   = QUOTA_WARN_PERCENT) {
   deliver_quota_warning(address, format_maildirquota(quota));
=

do i need to change the if (QUOTA_WARN_PERCENT = 0 to if
(QUOTA_WARN_PERCENT = 90 , then re-compile the vpopmail?

THank you

Regards,
Kenny

[vchkpw] Disable clear password

2007-09-20 Thread Kenny Lee

Hi all,

i have setup vpopmail ver 5.4.17 few months ago, and it is working fine all
the way. When i setup the program, i enable the clear password while
configure vpopmail. But now i wish to disable the clear password, what
should i do to disable it?

What i have tried ...
i go back to the installation folder, re-run again
./configure --disable-clear-passwd, then make and make install-strip
... but the result also same, when i used vuserinfo to view user's detail,
the command still can show up the clear password of the user.

so what should i need to do to disable it?

THank you

You did the right thing recompiling. That should make new passwords not
contain the clear text.

But you've got to go through all the vpasswd files manually to remove the
clear passwords from existing mailboxes.

I actually did the same thing years ago and published the code:
