Re: [Veritas-bu] Status 800 problem
Hi David, I have had this one before this was the fix from symantic: The problems when getting the status 800 is due to the EMM database believing there was no resource available (specific media, tape drives, or storage unit). The fact that you have had issues with the tape drives and I suspect that the EMM database believe there was some resource unavailable, would have caused the problem. The rebuild you did and then a restart (maybe a couple of controlled restarts), would have updated the EMM database (this can take a few minutes after a restart) and then when starting backups the status 800 should be cleared. For future reference, when getting issues that seem to be allocation related, but you know the system should have the resource the action that helps is; 1. Ensure no backups or restores are running. 2. Run the command /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/nbrbutil -resetall to clear any allocation issues with the EMM database. 3. Controlled stop and restart of the NetBackup processes/daemons. It appears that the library definition is absent from the EMM server but I don't know how to fix this. I'm running NBU6.0 MP4, a Solaris 9 master and a Solaris 9 media server with 1 robot and 8 drives. I can inventory the robot and see it in device monitor. My EMM server for this environment should be the master and is defined as such in the bp.conf on both the master and media server. Any help is appreciated. Re: [Veritas-bu] NBU 5.1 Reports
Hi Simon, What wants the management to know % successful backups, managed date per customer/policy ? Edwin From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of WEAVER, Simon (external) Sent: Thursday, March 29, 2007 12:29 To: 'veritas-bu@mailman.eng.auburn.edu' Subject: [Veritas-bu] NBU 5.1 Reports All Win2k3 NBU 5.1 Reports Module I know the reports are limited in this version of NBU, and I do not want to purchase additional reporting modules yet, as we may well be looking at going to 6.0, but does anyone use any of the info from the Reports Module and place it into Excel to create fancy graphs or charts on the status of the backups. Trouble I have, is that the status of backup reports advises the status per stream, and thats an awful lot of raw data to place into Excel - And to be honest management are not intersted in raw data just nice simple charts. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do or perform to either take the data from NBU and create a fancy report? or something that is simple on the eyes for management to see Thank you Regards Simon Weaver 3rd Line Technical Support Windows Domain Administrator EADS Astrium Limited, B23AA IM (DCS) Anchorage Road, Portsmouth, PO3 5PU Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] This email (including any attachments) may contain confidential and/or privileged information or information otherwise protected from disclosure. [Veritas-bu] Linux client with Logical Volume Manager
Hi, It looks like Netbackup does recognize the logical volumes as separate drives but it doesn't recognize the partitions on it as being the actual local drives. This causes for example /usr1 and every directory below to be backed up, INCLUDING /usr1/XX and /usr1/XX and /usr1/XXX, while these are also backed up because they're on a different logical volume . On top of that chance are that the root directory (/) and everything below, including ALL separate logical volumes are being backup again! I have never encountered this behavior ant thoughts or suggestions? Thanks, Edwin ___ Veritas-bu maillist - Veritas-bu@mailman.eng.auburn.edu http://mailman.eng.auburn.edu/mailman/listinfo/veritas-bu

Also went to BPERROR from a command line, and that provided a much more in-depth look at the errors for a client. You could also try this perhaps.
