The robot is defined in the EMM, and all media servers see the EMM.
Only one machine has to talk to the robot (the robot control host).

So when a tape is needed in a drive, the robot control host can handle
the move, and then the media server can talk to the drive.

They don't need a robot configured with a vtl? Does the robot
need to be configured on the master and not a media server?

The robot needs to be visible by at least one server (either the master
or a media server).

Wayne,

You do not need SSO.
SSO is used for sharing physical tape drives. In case of a VTL, you
create new Virtual drives and assign them to the new media server.
That's it.
So you are not sharing your drives!
Just make sure that you use only one media server for robotic control.

Best regards,
Stefaan

Wayne,

I'm assuming you are using the DD as VTL, not using OST. If so, yes,
using SSO you can share the VTL drives with the other media server. I
believe you have to have the SSO license on all media servers that share
the drives. It used to be sold on a per drive basis, not sure how they
sell it anymore. -- See your sales rep for details. :)
