Yes, deassignempty doesn't appear to run with the cleanup. I've never

least once a day.

I just checked my email logs from the media_deassign_notify script. (I
need to label expired VTL tapes.) It appears they come out at random times
at least once a day.

The support site also states that nbpem will run the deassignempty every
24 hours -- it ain't on the dot. Or if nbpem finishes its cycle it will
run deassignempty also.

We are on nbu6.0 mp6 and I would like to know if there is anyway to find
the backup ids that have 2 copies? Our filesystem/database backups with
long term retention (mostly infinity) first go to virtual tapes and then
get duplicated to physical. I would like to find this out and expire
those backup ids that have 2 copies as we are out of virtual scratch

All,

bpexpdate -m MEDIAID -d 0 does not do the trick.
I think because it are copy 2 tapes, when I try this on a single tape it works
fine but on those duplicates it doesn't expire the tape.

Seems there is still a connection between the copy 1 tape and the copy 2 tape.

I'm not sure I understand what behavior you're seeing.

So if you bpexpdate one tape, it should expire any copies on that tape.
Does it do so? It will not expire copies of the same image on other
tapes.

You'd use the (-m MEDIA) option if you want a piece of media to be
cleared, expiring any remaining images still on it.

You'd use the (-backupid BACKUP_ID) option if you want all copies of an
image on any tape to be expired.

Is this behavior not occuring for you?
