2008-10-31 Thread Anthony Spezio
I don't get as many as I used to get. About 99% goes to my SPAM file, one click
and it is gone. I have to check as several list members replies or posts also
go to the SPAM file including some my replies.

I don't know if any of you are getting this
kind of SPAM, but every so often if I post to the list a few days later I will
start getting this kind of SPAM?

Byard do you have filters for
this?

I know this is very recent becuse I change
my Sig line often. So someone has gotten me on a list that they sell to
advertisers. It takes days to get off the list. That is assuming that you can
even get off the list. I have clicked on the unsubscribe on the bottom of the
SPAM's and more often than not it does not send my request to the person who
bought the list.

All too often, when you click on the unsubscribe link, it'll add you to
other spam lists. Just delete it and block the address in your spam filter.

Partway down the trail. This is clearly a Regal knock-off of some

[VFB] Re: Fw: phxflytyer, I 'cracked the code' and made $94,532.44 in 24 hours.

2008-10-31 Thread Anthony Spezio
I have mentioned this before on and off the list. If you fwd a message, each
time you fwd it all the names go with it. The spammers love this. Just last
week I sent a message to a friend from my privet E address. He in turn used it
in a fwd with a bunch of names on it. In a couple of days I got E mail from one
of the names on that list of names from that E mail. I contacted that person
and they said they did not send me any E mails and did not even know me. It
only took two days to get my privet E address to the spammers. I had to change
it a year ago because of this and I guess I have to change it again. You
listers that have it, hang on, I will see if I start getting more spam.
Always delete any other names from your E mails other than your own. If fwd,
remove the other addresses.
About a month ago, I got a stupid FWD that had over 100 names and E addresses.
It had been fwd 9 times with each time a new list of over ten new addresses.
This was on my Yahoo account and it went to the SPAM file.

But you are also on a
MAC...
I wonder if it is just a
PC problem?

Chris is correct.  It's your e-mail, whether you're on Mac, PC, or
even WebTV.  Contact your ISP (cox.net) and see what kind of spam filters
they have for you.  You should be able to block them.

And Chris was also correct.  Do NOT click on the unsubscribe
link.  That'll put you on another 100 mailing lists.  I know - I did
  it once.

  Good luck.

Your ISP can trace the addresses to the source and put a block on them.

And sorry, I just took over the Ricoh distributorship for North America. You

[VFB] PROTECT YOUR FRIENDS!!!!

2008-10-31 Thread Allan Fish
Gee, folks, protect your friends addresses:

1) If you're going to forward something to a group of people, take
the time to erase all the addresses on it. Gee, it can't take over 5
seconds.

2) Then put all the addresses of the people you're sending it to on
the Bcc: line. Do NOT put their addresses on the To: line.

For you younger folks, Bcc: stands for Blind Carbon Copy. (I
won't go into why it's called carbon copy.)

But anyway, that protects everyone's e-mail address from being
displayed, since it doesn't show any of the other addressees in the
header except the recipient.

If these people are good enough friends for you to forward something
to them, you should take the very short time to protect their
security.

Off my soapbox now.
