It is a GREAT book. And for somebody starting out out there that might not want to shell out $100. IMHO, a good book for rall around tying instruction (and at about $29.95 I think) is the Orvis fly tying manual, Chuck Please see our fly fishing hand made furled leaders at: http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/you_wear_it_well_W0QQ_nkwZQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZQQ_ipgZ - Original Message - From: Joyce Westphal To: vfb-mail@googlegroups.com Sent: Saturday, November 07, 2009 10:19 AM Subject: [VFB] Re: Books are Expensive I must say that the Benchside Reference, IMHO, is worth every penny I paid for it. [VFB] Re: Books are Expensive
i remember when Rare and Unusual volume's 1. & 2. first came out in the 90's. They were $90 each..i paid a lot more than that for my copies. But the $600 dollar book is the Rarest of all 4 of the Ken Sawada books. i have all four signed. But "The ONE" is extremely hard to find and always very expensive. i actually coulda got it for $550.but the guy that had it, (Japanese cat named Kaz, who everybody up in the northeast knows as a very shrewd wheeler dealer), was himmin' and hawin' bout not really wantin' to sell it blah blah blash blah blah.so i just threw 'em $600 and took it, lmao. Didn't feel like listenin' to all the crap. Kaz deals in bamboo, fiberglass, reels, books, nets, and all kinna antigue and special "Stuff." He's been around doin' all that for yearsand i knew he had the book..and i'd been lookin' for it for a few years. And it's not the kinna thing you find more than once. Soif you snooze, you looze. He use to bring the book to shows but never wana sell it. So finally i just decided it was mine. He got me, lmao. But i got IT! Uggh, for that price, I'd just get a "gently worn" copy of the hardback book... say, at the link below for $50... ;) http://www.amatobooks.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=AmatobooksCom&Product_Code=C1571881263&Category_Code= I saw a FTJ (fly fishing and tying journal) at the local Barnes & Noble with an advertisement 'construction- paper' cover over the magazine itself - the back of which showed the CD-Rom at a price of 40 bucks or just under that. I'd still go for the 50 dollar hard-back, but that's just because of how I use the thing - I'm not trucking my computer all over when tying ;) -Pete On Sat, Nov 7, 2009 at 2:17 PM, Niclas Runarsson < niclas.runars...@soderhamn.com> wrote: > Correct: > http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1571882596/ > > /Nick > > -Ursprungligt meddelande- > *Från:* vfb-mail@googlegroups.com [mailto:vfb-m...@googlegroups.com] *För > *Peter Gramp > *Skickat:* den 7 november 2009 20:09 > > *Till:* vfb-mail@googlegroups.com > *Ämne:* [VFB] Re: Books are Expensive > > For what it may be worth, (Now I'll say that I have NO clue the accuracy or > lack thereof for this!)
