Well folks. It was 62 and sunny this afternoon, so myself and my grand
daughters Cheyenne (15 yrs old) and Katie (13 yrs old) went to the nearby state
owned lakes. Cheyenne and Katie got skunked, and I could one little ten inch
largemouth bass. Nothing to write home about, (I didn’t even get a phone cause
I was a city block or so from the camera and/or phone which was in the car )
but to get out in the sun after 25 o the last 30 days of pouring down rain it
was great. And I must confess, I caught the ass on a spinning rod and reel, as
the wind was gusting to 35 mph and sustained at 20-25 mph, so we used 1/8”
jigs.

We first tried flyrods, but that wind blw the fly, line, leader etc every way
but straight.

Anyway, the good Lord willing, we’ll get out a lot more this yr than we have
the last two yrs because of my medical issues.

It as also nice to be able to fish till 6:30 because of daylight savings time
which started today, Chuck

It as also nice to be able to fish till 6:30 because of daylight savings time
which started today, Chuck

session. We got home about 5 PM and saw that the river was lower than I had
seen it in months. The temperature was almost 60 so I grabbed a rod, tied on
a Chili Pepper and went to the dock. It looked like one unit running. I cast
a while with the CP and no hits. Tied on a small bead head midge, still
nothing. Then tried a Zebra Midge and still nothing. The sun was going down
fast and it was getting cool. I noted that there was a big midge hatch
coming on and the trout started rising but too far below the dock to reach
them. Then I saw a good riser in casting reach. I passed the Zebra Midge
over the rise several time with no takes. Now it was getting cold so I
decided on one more cast. I changed over to a red body soft hackle, passed
it over the rise and then decided to make one more cast. The cast was good
and the drift was right over the rise. A take and a good one. I landed the
15' brown and released it. Now I was really getting cold but the trout were
rising in earnest but I had to quit. It was good to get a nice Brown the
first time to wet a line in over 5 months. Not bad for about 30 minuets of
fishing.

a Chili Pepper and went to the dock.
Not bad for about 30 minuets of
 fishing.

Congrats. Still have ice here, but it's been in the 40s for a couple of
days. Maybe I'll have a chance to work on my rhythm before Sowbug.

After over five months of high water and cold weather the river was finally
down. I had some things to do today and I had noted this morning that the
dock was a lot lower than it gad been in months. We left the house about
noon to get done what we had to do before I went to my monthly tying
