Did you visit the blog?

It's very simple I give people three choices and they vote. Having a
lot of production experience I have a plan which I'm certain will
work. If you're interested then I'd advise subscribing to the blog to
see how it progresses.

Thanks for your interest.

Our aim is to find 50,000 subscribers in 6 months, this should
enable
us to financially make the film. The interesting part for the
subscribers is the process... that's thousands of people designing
the movie themselves. As I'm sure you know the large production
studios screen their finished film to a preview audience and have
even
been know to re-shoot scenes and change endings based on the
feedback.
We've put that idea into overdrive.

I hope you will join us? Or perhaps you can advise us on how to

We're all forced into HD.

But now with this 21.1 megapix Canon shooting HD, it becomes really
something.

Anyone any comments on this quite exciting camera?

That small it offers really new ways of shooting, and imagine what happens
if you put a professional lens on it.

[videoblogging] Re: Introducing a new concept in feature film blogging

2008-10-10 Thread thegeekfactory
Hi Christian,

I expect there will be a lot of sceptics... The project wouldn't be
successful without them. I suspect you haven't been to the blog
because it's simply a course of multiple choice questions in order to
format the script then the subscribers get to choose from three
possible candidates for each part of member of the cast etc. It's
really quite simple.

As for the theme of the film (it's central issue), we are actually
voting on that now. Why not subscribe and have your say? You'll see
that there are three provocative choices to make.

Also the dice man the book is all about leaving choice and decision to
the roll of the dice. So all in all I don't identify with your scepticism and
am sure that with a little more knowledge you'll feel
more positive.

Thanks for you comments.

Best,

Russell

I don't mean to pour cold water on this as a production methodology,
but I suspect that one of the narrative pleasures of feature film is
precisely that the audience is *not* involved in its creation, that
they derive pleasure from abandoning themselves to a narrative
crafted by someone skilled in doing so. A great film starts with
 having something to say.

This is not to say that I don't think your idea will work (and
indeed
I don't think my opinion has consequence for the videoblog format
either) but I am skeptical that it will work in the way that you
think. Good luck with it nonetheless, and I'll be interested to see
 how it progresses.

The QT list I'm on, is getting some excited reaction:

==

BIG GIANT WOW!!!

Harry you don't even know the half of it This camera has caused
such a stir around the world in a matter of a couple of days that
CANON had to shut down the HD Streaming samples because it exceeded
their servers. The footage samples (if you can find any) are RAW from
the camera with no color grade. Straight QT encodes to H.264. This
will tip the scales of power into the hands of the creative. The body
is $2700 then you and start snapping on some great Canon lenses. For
the first time true depth-of-field in an affordable HD VIDEO CAMERA.

AND I QUOTE as seen on the canon site:

DUE TO HIGH DEMAND OF VIDEO CLIPS WE HAVE EXCEEDED OUR DOWNLOAD
CAPACITY.

WE ARE NOW INVESTIGATING ALTERNATIVE HOSTING METHODS.

Not only do you have to write it it should be funny. There is a

I'm really excited about it. Have you seen this video, by Vincent
Laforet, shot using the Canon EOS 5D MKII DSLR?

http://blog.vincentlaforet.com/2008/09/22/without-further-ado-reverie/

He has some nice lenses on there.

Apparently, it has a Mic In. So perhaps you'd be able to mount a
Rode videomic on the top - you'd definitely be able to feed in a
lapel mic.

Also out is the Nikon D90 which shoots 24fps 720P. No Mic In.
Christian Payne at http://ourmaninside.org has just got one and will
be vlogging with it, so you can check it out there.
Meanwhile, here's a Gizmodo sample of D90 video:

not .org

and if I'd visited before linking, I'd not only have got the URL

Pretty impressive, since I think he only got it yesterday.
Here's the review:
http://ourmaninside.com/2008/10/10/nikon-d90-video-test/

He's not part of this list, which is a shame because he's a pretty
amazing guy - you may know him as Documentally from Seesmic or
Twitter or Qik. He's a professional citizen journalist and
photographer in England. Worth subscribing to.
