Re: [videoblogging] Re: In search of pioneering v-loggers!

2008-10-21 Thread Rupert
Yeah, I didn't mean to sound negative. The problem with asking
people to contact you is that a lot of the people you need to speak
to are quite modest, and wouldn't necessarily identify themselves as
pioneers, or wouldn't answer a call for them to email you saying I'm
a pioneer! - so the responses you get will be weighted towards
people who are more comfortable with self-promotion.

The idea of pioneers is caught up with some kind of idea of
hierarchy, or an in-crowd, something that a lot of people here have
tried to resist. Which is maybe why Jay Dedman, who was central to
this group, said 'fuck pioneers' the other day. Quite rightly, he
doesn't want to be seen as any more important, valid or influential
than anybody else.

One of the best things that happened to open it all up was the mass
migration of people to Twitter and their willingness to follow and be
followed by lots of different people. The social and content stuff
happens on Twitter, while the technical, marketing and philosophical
discussions happen here.

So I highly recommend researching it yourself via the archives of
this group. The group's wiki also has a historical timeline of who
did what, when which is worth checking out, but is also skewed
towards those who have entered their own details.

I went out and bought a Sony HDR-HC1 within a few months of Amanda
Congdon mentioning it on Rocketboom. Although I've dabbled in
podcasting and a touch of vlogging since 2005 on, I've known early on
that I wanted to be on the production end of things (and NOT in front
of a camera) and that's even now just barely maturing enough to pay me
enough to live on (don't try this at home!). If you describe that as
vlogging - please count me in!

RE: [videoblogging] Re: Grow Your Audience On MySpace with MyAds

2008-10-21 Thread Paul Armstrong
Sorry for the delayed response - there are templates for all types of
ads - just delete the text you don't want - the backgrounds are designed
to catch the eye etc - the cool thing is also that any picture can be
used with them - including all your MySpace pics if that's the way you
want to go.

Let me know if anyone is using them / what success they have had /
issues they have run into - we're seeing really good success across the
board.

I'm currently using www.cubics.com for MySpace advertising, but I
would really like to try this.
The problem is all I'm seeing as templates are for bands. Am I missing
something? I can create my own ad, but if there are templates other
than for bands I'd like to see them.

Wanted to let you know about a new (and incredibly targeted) way to
grow your audience on MySpace and MySpaceTV - it's called MyAds and it

launched today in public beta - it uses the HyperTargeting technology
we developed and can be used by anyone (age, sex, location and over
1000 separate categories to further target your audience). Beta
partners are seeing double digit growth in traffic and friends. Best
of all you only pay when your ad is clicked on, you can get started
from as little as $25 and there's a slew of analytics!

Best of all? You can link out of MySpace too if that's your thing.

Hope it helps you all! Let me know know if you have any questions.

 Best,
 Paul.

MySpace MyAds empowers any advertiser to build a customized, targeted,

and measurable campaign in a few easy steps:

STEP 1: Visit https://advertise.myspace.com or click the Advertise
link located at the bottom of any MySpace page
STEP 2: Create a display ad using the MySpace MyAds Builder Tool
STEP 3: Select a variable ad spend anywhere from $25 to $10,000
 STEP 4: HyperTarget to customers
STEP 5: Measure ad performance with MySpace MyAds analytics reporting
