[videoblogging] NaVloPoMo + new EditAppForiPhone

2009-10-21 Thread Jose Nuno Pereira
Hi NaVloPoMoers, :)

Your nice flow of energy on the list made me write and click send on
some things i found the days and that might interest you all.

NaVloPoMo
I still hope to participate in November craziness, but my professional
calendar is still not well defined yet. will see what i can add to our
group portfolio. :)
One thing is already sure... i will always try to watch your videos.

Final Cut Studio 3.0 / Final Cut Pro 7.0
I wanted to share with you that i tried and installed the new FCS on
my intel Core 2 Duo Macbook (Its the one with the cheap intel graphics
card).
I had to do some tricks described here:
http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/fcs_3_on_mb.html
But i have to add that for what i briefly tested it seems to work as
it worked on the previous version.
I should say that i work normally with HDV, DV, MPEG4/H.264/AVI
sources and normally my timelines are DV and HDV. And i typically
configured it for Unlimited RT play on time line and so i only render
when i need to check it better or in the end. And even Motion works as
before.
I didn't tried Color because it seemed obvious that would not work.
For me this possibility (install on my MB) was very good to know
because you can't downgrade the final cut version of a project easily
and i normally work at home on a nice iMac.

EditAppForiPhone
And for Iphone video users, i just found this review:
ReelDirector lets the iPhone 3GS really edit video
http://provideocoalition.com/index.php/ssimmons/story/reeldirector_lets_the_iphone_3gs_really_edit_video1/
I am not endorsing not anything and i don't even have an iPhone but i
thought it could be interesting news for some.
If i may ask that if you indeed try it, also pleas bring some feedback
to us.

Best Rgds to everyone,
ZN

2009-07-23 Thread Jose Nuno Pereira
hi video bloggers ;),

especially for the mac people.

there is a new Final cut studio in town - vers. 3
the upgrade from any version is $300 USD or $999 (full price)

i already checked some stuff here:
http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/
http://provideocoalition.com/index.php/rharrington/story/want_to_know_whats_new_in_final_cut_studio_3/
http://www.rippletraining.com/provideoapps.html
http://twitter.com/#search?q=fcs

i am trying to find if it still runs on macbook with intel graphics
adapter because it says:
ATI or NVIDIA graphics processor (integrated Intel graphics
processors not supported)

[videoblogging] vimeo is going to stop hosting source videos (starting August 1st)

2009-07-02 Thread Jose Nuno Pereira
Hi People,

i just read this on vimeo's blog and wanted to warn everyone about it.

http://vimeo.com/blog:215

Starting August 1st, basic accounts' original source files will be
stored for one week from the upload date, after which they will be
removed. Of course the converted Vimeo video will always be there in
the Vimeo player, ready to be watched again and again, anywhere you
choose to embed or share it. We will also still provide a download
link so people can save the converted file to their computer (in MP4
 format).

This new one-week policy applies to all basic accounts' videos
uploaded from this point onwards. For videos that were uploaded
before this blog post, those original files will be available until
August 1st, to give you some time to download them if you need to.
After August 1st, those files will also be removed.

I personally understand the explaining but its a bummer if you are a
free/basic user anyway.

I just wanted to share this information because you can download your
source videos between now and beginning of August.

Rgds,
ZN

Re: [videoblogging] Video card needed for HD FCP or iMovie

2008-01-28 Thread Jose Nuno Pereira
Hi again John,

I am using my HDV 1080i50 sony C1E (europe), and when i capture i
capture native HDV, because you can also capture differently.

I forgot to tell you this part.

Do I need a new video card or easier work around.

Re: [videoblogging] Re: Video card needed for HD FCP or iMovie

2008-01-28 Thread Jose Nuno Pereira
Hi again,

that is strange because my mac mini, one of the first ones, i
remember that don't have that quartz extreme stuff, at list it
doesn't ripple like water on the dashboard...

and it always worked with HDV, nowadays i use my macbook (non pro),
but at the time it worked without any apparent problem.

for me it seems more like some mismatch on the software. if you have
a spare external firewire disk you could install clean and try out on
a fresh and updated install.

Re: [videoblogging] video gallery wordpress plugin?

2008-01-03 Thread Jose Nuno Pereira
Hi Jay!

don't you get that relations already with the tag system built-in
(wordpress)?

maybe what is needed is a tag cloud but with thumbnails or something
like that...

we should try to solve the related videos/posts with tags and the how
it appears with tricks on the theme... like when a vlog only has one
post/video on the first page, you can do lots of decisions like that.
In a theme you could always have a way of viewing connected to a
category or something on wordpress and themes.

i will read the rest of the messages on the list. these are my 2 cts.

The Journal format is becoming less and less useful.

  Why?

 good question.
David Kessler might be able to jump in since we've been talking about
 it offlist.

The blog started as a diary format for text.
But what if I dont see my video work as a linear narrative where old
posts gets buried under August 2006.
The fact that i made a video in August 2006 is irrelevant to how I
 really feel about it.

Categories might be a better way to see some video projects.
so how can I format my front page based on highlighting different
 categories?

again, lets look at http://colombiamigrationproject.net/ (which s html
since peter couldnt easilydo this with a blog)
maria projects is not times based but based on geography.
she did videos in Colombia and NYC...and wants to play them off
 each other.
much different from the journal/diary format.

The same is true for our videoblog: http://ryanishungry.com
This is why I got excited about the related video plugin that
 Charles built.
When we do a video about Composting, I want all our compost videos to
show upnot be buried in the archive just because they are older.

As a visual creator, I want to arrange my blog visually and non-
 linearly.
I think right now, WP, and blogger, and Tumblr all follow the one
post after another format that works so well for text blogs.
