OK, fwiw:

I did not get past this gem:

There's one catch though, it's an encyclopedia which means the
content must be encyclopedic.

Now, arguments/debates/discussions in this group are worth their
weight in electrons, I know, but somebody PLEASE tell me no one
currently participating here thinks this any more than drunky wunky
talkWhat did I miss?

[videoblogging] Re: Video Blog Wikipedia Entry

2007-04-30 Thread wallythewonderdog
(A half hour later...)

Now I see the importance, I think.

For those who think this group - its members and their efforts - are
at least important enough to document in some kind of historical
record, the screwing around with its Wikipedia entry is hurtful
vandalism, at the least, but maybe also at the most.

So lemme ask one more obvious (to me anyway) question: does the
definitive - or at least, the fairly accurate, as we know it now -
entry about this group reside somewhere other than Wikipedia, for
safekeeping? Rupert, on your hard drive, maybe, or Verdi's, or some
one's? It's not like youse guyz NEED an external site to maintain
your own history, is it?

This is not to excuse the rampant illogical editing of the vlog
wikipedia entry, of course; it's just to suggest what may already have
happened: if it's important to document, then hey, save it in a safe
place!

Respectfully,

WtW

[videoblogging] May I have your attention please

2007-04-28 Thread wallythewonderdog
To avert confusion and misunderstanding, I want to clarify 3 points.

1. One of the Videobloggers is Susan, of Wylie, Texas, not far from
where I am. Susan sometimes calls herself/her blog kitykity. Four
or five years ago, I made a video called Here Kitty Kitty, which
still lives somewhere on the Internet, though I have trouble finding
it, and I hope you do too, because it's extremely silly. Susan's
kitykity and my Here, Kitty Kitty have no relation to each other,
and this is greatly to the esteemed Susan's advantage.

2. There is also Mr Jonny Goldstein, evidently of Washington, DC.
There is also ALSO Mr S. Goldstein, who is a roommate of mine, to whom
I occasionally refer, but who is not a member of this group, which is
to the enormous benefit of the group, because Mr S. Goldstein - unlike
Mr Jonny Goldstein - is fundamentally unsound. Plus he's not 100%
housetrained yet, even though he thinks I think he is, if my fellow
doglovers get my drift.

3. Finally, my own nom de groupe is Wallythewonderdog, but I usually
style myself Wallythewarlord. We are one and the same,
wallythewonderdog = wallythewarlord, just as soylentgreen = people.
Congruent, that's the word I'm looking for.

Thank you, and have a good weekend.

Yeah, I vote for Montreal.
You are talking about the one in Canada, right?

NOT SO FAST THERE, BUCKO. 5 minutes ago, at the top of the wiki
voting page, it said I added a few DC folks who told me they are in
favor of DC--Jonny.

How about this: There are, oh, 80 or 90 folks who told me they are
in favor of Montreal. OK if I add their names?

I thought not.

To all who were in the FlashMeeting today: sorry I snuck out without
warning, but my screen froze up and I tried to reload the page -
yikes! But with my old coal-fired computer I'm surprised I got in
at all, and glad I did. What I did hear, and read, was interesting
and useful, and I recommend anyone who hasn't checked out these
meetings should give it a try!

[videoblogging] Seagate hates you

2007-01-15 Thread wallythewonderdog
Okay so tonight I'm the bitch of the group. Be that as it may

I'd read right here that Seagate was a main sponsor of the recent CES
Bloghaus, so I thoughten to myself Fine, I need a new hard drive,
let's go shopping, for a Seagate of course.

BUT THEN

Have any of you gone to their website to shop for hard drives? Well,
I just did, and it's NOT POSSIBLE. Go to their main page
(www.seagate.com) and try to follow the links to anything that
resembles product information or anything of the sort - GO AHEAD I
DARE YOU!

Thanks and have a delightful evening. Grrr.

Oops, there it is - never mind! So it took half an hour to come up,
let Seagate blame it on me, or on the cold, or - sorry!

I'm still in a bitchy mood.

 Planning on importing into Avid...

Hi Sarah, I think MPEG Streamclip might work - it's freeware at
http://www.squared5.com/. I had just downloaded the latest Mac
version (1.8) not 24 hours before reading your message, and haven't
even tried it yet! Great minds think alike ;-]

[videoblogging] In memoriam C.P.

2007-01-10 Thread wallythewonderdog
My sympathy and love go out tonight to the family, friends,
colleagues, and fans all over the world of Carlo Ponti, a maestro of
the movies who died today (Jan. 10) in Switzerland.

Few people, maybe a half dozen total, have had such a profound effect
on an entire national cinema, and certainly not for such a long time
or across so many cultural boundaries.

Are any of you old enough to remember the Gilda Radner BW filmed bit
on SNL, in which she wanders around early morning New York, I think
she may have been holding a balloon? That was one of many tributes to
Carlo Ponti's work in U.S. popular culture.

I suspect I speak for all the Yahoo Videoblogging bunch when I say
arrivederci, Carlo, we miss you.

[videoblogging] USB flash device recommendations?

2007-01-02 Thread wallythewonderdog
I want to be able to carry around stupid little movies on my keychain.
Probably I'll buy either a 512 MB or 1 GB - do any of you have these,
SanDisk or any other make/model you'd recommend?

And thanks for the hello, Jan, I like the pix on your site!

2007-01-01 Thread wallythewonderdog
Hello all,

I've been planning to join this group for several weeks, and just
barely made it on the first day of 2007. I'm in Texas, about 90 miles
from Crawford. Right now I'm (a) typing this; (b) downloading a Josh
Wolf video; and (c) watching Boise St vs Oklahoma.

Have a great 2007, or at least an above average January 2!
