Pat - I tried Episode 8 on my iPhone. I converted the long URL to a short one
using Bitly so it came out as http://bit.ly/ZX7qU. Much easier to work with.

The picture (on my iPhone) was small - maybe 120px X 100 giver or take. As you
know the audio is out of sync but you could hear it and see the video.

You might take a look at using Blip.tv to host and deliver your videos. They
encode in multiple formats including flv and m4v and the price is more than
reasonable -either free or under $100 for pro service.

Good luck with your project.

These videos are all encoded in H.264 as the video codec at a bitrate of 128K

All I need to know is whether or not they can be viewed with a phone or other

simply help others out.

I am aware of the video issues with Episodes 8 9 as well as the audio quirks

(As Elmer Fudd would probably say :D ). Instead of using Windows Media Encoder
(As I was in Episodes 8 9 and all other episodes throughout my video
podcasting history), I'm now using the new Adobe Flash Encoder (As I did in
Episode 10). Though, in order to correct the quirks in the audio, I will be
using the LOW bandwidth settings (That said, I may try to toggle with the
screen resolution setting if I can since video was never an issue with Episode
10).

So anyway, if you guys could check those videos out on your hardware devices
and reply in this thread with any feedback you have, it'd be MUCH appreciated.
I hope to have all three episodes posted COMPLETE WITH RETRO-DATES since they
were recorded on different dates BY TOMORROW if all goes well.

MANY thanks in advance.

Hi everyone:

Yeah Bill. Sorry 'bout that. Forgot that phones can't handle long URLs. I'll
try using TinyURL in the actual text links in the blog posts as that's the
service I use when posting links to websites in my Twitter posts, but since the
blog itself isn't phone-friendly (I don't think Blogger is), I'll have to find
SOME way of using TinyURL to shorten an RSS Feed.

Either that or people will just simply have to download to their computers and
then transfer to their phones.

Hey Pat
I understand your point about 3gp and how you believe it will expand your
audience... but a 40min video is pretty daring if you think people will
watch it to the end on their phones. And I actually think you are
entertaining! Heck, my own mother wouldn't watch 40min of me-- and she's my
mom!!!:)

Personally, pretty much the only long form video I watch on my iphone comes
from Cult Of UHF:

http://www.cultofuhf.com/

And that's only when I'm stuck at an airport or something like that.

Obviously, you can do what you want. But when you talk about trying to
extend your reach and your audience, 3gp won't do that all by itself.

True, but I wanted to see how long I could go with my videos before they became
such whereas people couldn't fit them on their phones.

Which is why I want add iPhone versions (Not just the iPod as that's only half
the screen size of the iPhone) Flash versions for streaming for those
phones which can play Flash.

This is ON TOP OF the iPod versions which I've been posting all along.
