[Videolib] How to get public performance right to show the pilot of a TV show
Hello, I guess my subject line says it all, but there is a TV show that would fit with our Summer Read programming (The Young Riders) that we would like to show during the summer. How do I go about getting permission to show it? I don't think it is covered under the two licenses we do have, with Movie Licensing USA and MPLC. The show's production companies are: MGM Televison and Ogiens/Kane Company. The distributor is ABC (USA) (TV). If I need to go through one of them, which should I contact? X-Ray vision - to see exactly where in a book the answer is - and to find the book when it's missing on the shelf. I know - more a book thing. Super hearing - to understand people when they don't speak clearly, Mind reading - so we can determine exactly what the patron is asking for. Total recall - cast, crew, plot, characters of any movie, documentary, film clip, short, etc. - IMDB on the brain! Super powers of persuasion - to convince people what the legal issues are about copyright, public performance, TEACH Act, etc., so they will completely understand and never bother you about it again! I'm sure others thought of better things! Becky Tatar Periodicals/Audiovisuals Aurora Public Library 1 E. Re: [Videolib] help! what would a video librarian superhero look like?
A librarian superhero would always know exactly where to go to find how to defeat the villian, but leave the actual fighting to someone else. Not because we could not do the fighting, but because that is not their role. (unless it is that Japanese Manga where all the fighting is done by Librarians) regards jhs John H.
