Dear Philip,

The official title is "9 for IX" which of course, is about Title iX (one of
the great laws passed for equal rights). The only one I saw was Ava
Duvernay's on Serena Williams (I'm a big fan of both of them) and it was
pretty good.

The good news is that they're coming out on DVD this October 15th according
to http://www.imdb.com/news/ni56100491/

[Videolib] Title 9 documentaries by ESPN - iTunes

2013-10-01 Thread Bahr, Philip
I have a question for the group, which is in two-parts. A professor wants us
to buy something called Title 9 documentaries by ESPN from iTunes.
http://espn.go.com/espnw/w-in-action/nine-for-ix/

So my first question is can we buy these films on iTunes for our collections?
I didn't think iTunes had institutional licensing, but I thought I'd ask the
group. Obviously I don't want to buy streaming content unless I can load the
links into the catalog.

Second, if I can't purchase them, is there someone at ESPN I can contact about
this? The website doesn't give much information.

Thanks so much for any assistance. Please reply directly to me:

[Videolib] Webinar: Video Preservation and Discovery

2013-10-01 Thread Jim Ulsh
Upcoming Webinars - Preservation and Discovery of Institutional Video Content:
The Latest Research and Implications for Academic Libraries
Faculty, students, and academic leaders are increasingly seeking out new
sources of video content and value its potential to contribute to teaching,
research, and enhanced academic visibility. But, rich archival video assets
remain scattered, hidden, and inaccessible within their institutions and to the
wider world.
ProQuest's research indicates that academic librarians would like to make their
institution's video content widely discoverable, and they see this as a natural
role for them to play. At the same time, preserving this content and making it
accessible competes for library expertise with print archives and Institutional
Repository needs.
ProQuest recently piloted a new video service with seven university partners.
The pilot project has offered many helpful insights for managing institutional
video assets, including:
* Identifying the best video material and making it discoverable
* Creating transcription and metadata in order to surface content for
discovery services and other content platforms
* Developing solutions for streaming, hosting, segmenting, and
accessibility
*   Rights management requirements
