Re: [Viking-devel] OSM NoName

2009-07-21 Thread Guilhem Bonnefille
As I wrote, viking already has minimal stuff for that. Currently
(viking-0.9.8) you can open OSM external sites with the coordinates of
the current viewport.
For example, I've just uploaded raw data (GPX) to OSM. Then, I want to
edit them with potlach. So, I simply click on menu
Tools-webtools-OSM(edit). A bowser is opened with the same location.

Currently, I only implemented the webtools. But my plan was to
support other tools (like josm). Furthermore, these tools will be
configurable by file before viking-1.0.

So, just send details about what you need to activate your tools.
First of all, some command line examples can be fine. We will then
design a way to launch these commands from viking.

Also I would like some way of invoking other programs given the current
location and visible extents. [Thus it means you can jump into the JOSM of
the current view or any other program - see gqview/geeqie for a sample way of
 running external programs]

Yes, I also would love to see that!
Right click on a location in the map an open location with ... would be a
 great help !

[Viking-devel] OSM NoName

2009-07-19 Thread Nick Allen
Hi,

Most of my use of Viking is to do with surveying updating on OSM. It
would really make this a lot easier if one of the map layers available
to me was 'OSM NoName'.

I'm afraid I don't know enough to do any 'coding' for this, and in fact
will have to wait for an update on Ubuntu before I can benefit from any
changes that are made, unless someone can point me towards an idiots
guide to how to update Viking to the latest version.

Even if this can't be done, quick vote of thanks for the work so far -
using Viking has made my OSM editing a lot easier also helps me to
actually use the mapping information.

Thanks again

Nick
