I think LEM Swap is a good place where only apple stuff is sold, and I 
myself ended up striking a deal in this group to get a Power Macintosh 5200 
with a 5500 board, but in terms of eBay alternatives, I like Mercari 
because you can get a crazy deal on some of these older Macs, especially G3 
and G4 laptops. Doing a search myself (although I already have a 2005 
PowerBook G4 and 3 iBook G4s, it's easy to find the old G4 systems for less 
than $100. I would also like to mention that I got ALL of my G4 laptops for 
less than $100, and all my iBook G4s have good batteries. I may also be 
able to recommend a G4 iMac since they have a unique compact design, but 
for you, avoid the G4 Tower (if you're lucky you can find a cube for a good 
price.) If you ever need buying help, I can spot a good deal.

Vintage Power Macintosh wanted

Is anyone able to sell me a Power Macintosh 9600, 8600, 5400, 5500, or G3 beige 
tower? I tried eBay but when I found a G3 for cheap, someone just HAD to bid 
$100 because apparently the world is ending and it’s the last one in existence 
despite not having a hard drive.

Centris DOS Compatibility

So I’ve always considered the possibility of running MS-DOS stuff on my Centris 
660av. Does anyone know if the Centris 610 DOS Compatibility card (that I at 
least think exists) would work with my 660av? And if so, where to find one?

I'm not sure if I'M reading this wrong, but I don't think everyone's 
getting what I said. Early System 7 is basically anything before System 
7.1, which came on later 68040 machines or so. I think System 6 is the 
sweet spot for the SE and some other late 68000 machines.

It's not necessarily just an SE thing. I wouldn't recommend anything later 
than early System 7 on any 68000 Macintosh...

X began to not suck". Notice how you said "not suck" and not "when OS X was 
made". By the time OS X was released in 2001, developers were shifting 
their focus from OS 9 to OS X (which as we've seen today, that's worked 
pretty good for them), so that's why there was a massive disinterest. You 
could try to deep search on google using +s and -s in your search, but 
would have no idea why you need a USB 2 driver anyways when USB 1 ports 
support USB 2.0 and even 3.0 drives (just at slower speeds).

I know they speed bumped the 610 and the 650 but the Centris 660av and 
Quadra 660av have no difference besides the model sticker. also they take 
the same System 7.1 that came with the Quadra 840av.

I would recommend System 6 or so and maybe System 7, but I wouldn't 
recommend anything higher than that, seeing as later System 7 versions look 
more aged on a B screen rather than a colored screen where it actually 
looks decent. also System 7 is probably pushing the 68000 chip farther than 
where it's limits should be.

It might? I've gotten my old iMac DV from 1999 online using a modern Apple 
laptop, an ethernet cable, and internet sharing. However, since you're 
using a laptop, 1. make sure you have airport, and 2. make sure you can use 
the correct security type (WPA I'm pretty sure) for your WIFI network, and 
you're set. did it with a PowerBook G4 in the past, and still do it. just 
make sure you have over the early versions of 10.4 (even though you said 
you're using 10.4.11).

A good idea would be to do what I did for the Centris 660av and just look 
around eBay for a bit. Unfortunately most of the computers being sold are 
broken or only power tested (PLEASE STOP IT'S ANNOYING), but eventually 
you'll find a vintage mac that works fully and is compatible with SCSI.

The Macintosh Centris. I felt like starting a discussion about this, seeing 
as I recently found a fully working Macintosh Centris 660av from eBay. I 
actually made this video unboxing it (watch if you want I don't care:
