Re: SCSI Hard drive 12 GIG or larger

Specifically, I’ve had an old 8 gB 68 pin IBM hd from B&W g3 used in a 50 pin
external case with $3 adapter as a backup drive for vintage system.

In the digest email there’s a good heading but in web it’s under an old thread

Anyway what I do feel would be very useful an external
SCSI - SD. I have spare parts enough for an external
SCSI drive but never could spare cash for adapter.

My PowerBook 1400 and G3 survive with PC Card SD adapters since my modern macs
have SD slots… but older macs data transfer much more cumbersome

Seems like a new "thread" to me...

If I were using it personally, I'd go with one of the CF or SD memory
card adapters. They're likely going to be faster and more robust than
the old hard drives that would fit, though they might cost a bit more
up front. You can still find some of the 68 pin Wide and Ultra SCSI
drives that were used in servers, but they are either going to be new
old stock, refurbished, or very expensive. But, if you get your hands
on one then the 68 to 50-pin adapters are available on eBay and work
just fine.

2018-06-25 Thread Christian Wacker
You could always look into the SD2SCSI kits that are out now. For just over
$50 you can use any SD card (or MicroSD card) that you have on hand and
there's a few common mods for them (about $8 more) that allow you to have
access to the SD card slot from the exterior of the Mac which makes moving
files around a whole lot easier.
