Re: Silverlining Lite SQ?
I don't know about you all out there, but I have been using SyQuest Utilities 4.0.1 for 3 years, with EZ Flyer SyJet disks, on an LCII, a Q650, a 7200, with Sys. 7.1, 7.5.3, 7.5.5, 8.1, it's worked out pretty well for me -- I mean about as well as using other drivers. ...Of course there is that 1 disk recently whose directory that got totally hosed (when I used the long verify option -- though that disk seemed to be developing a lot of other problems before that), but that also happened to me (not under exactly the same circumstances) early on with the special edition Silverlining Lite that used to ship on the SQs, I decided to use the Utilities ever since. ...I've also had several SQ disks go bad on me (bad sectors), but that seems to be a hardware issue...they all go bad sooner or later...YMMV... Silverlining Lite SQ?
Hi, Would anyone know where I can get a copy of LaCie's Silverlining Lite SQ ? I believe the version I need is 2.2, but I'm not completely sure. This particular version was formerly distributed with the SyQuest 88mb and 200mb cartridge drives, per the current SyQuest web-site ( http://www.syquest.com/support/tb7026.html ), but it doesn't seem to be downloadable at the LaCie site anymore, as mentioned in the SyQuest docs. Bob P.S. - As an aside, the only way I've found to currently format the cartridges is by using Lido 7.56, and then using OnTrack Software's Disk Manager Mac v. 2.25 to update the driver. Both Lido and the current version of SyQuest Utilities install a driver that causes my Mac Plus (System 6.0.5) to bomb quite dramatically with a dynamic and loud buzzing sound! :-O _ Do You Yahoo!? The SyQuest Utilities cause everything to bomb, even your TV, car and stove. ;-) There _may_ be one or two specific System versions that actually works with, as long as you don't install anything else. :P = The earth swarms with inhabitants.
