Hi, list.

I made a video-call to someone via IMO this afternoon. At the end of the video

phone from another phone and callers id was announced through the speaker but
voiceover still remained unavailable through the speaker.

Then I put the headphone and Voiceover was available through this headphone.
Then I applied the little old tested method, I made Voiceover read from the
top, while VO was reading through the headphone, I unplugged the headphone and
kept pressing the volume up button while VO was reading, but it did not come
through the speaker.

Then I powered off the phone and switched it back on in few minutes. This time
VoiceOver spoke via speaker only until I unlocked the screen and then
disappeared again. I powered off the phone again and got the same result.

Should I try something else?

Thanks!

Re: Accessibility of the Microsoft Outlook app

2015-06-28 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Please report it to Microsoft. On the desktop version there's a feedback
button. There may be one also on the mobile version, maybe in settings?
Something similar was happening in MS Word on the mac and it was fixed.

 Hi all,

I love the feature set of the Microsoft Outlook app, but unfortunately I’ve
experienced some serious accessibility issues. When composing Email, I am not
able to review the text I’ve entered, nor move the cursor, using VoiceOver's
editing commands. As well, I am not able to review the list of attachments
for an individual Email, though I can go into the files tab within Outlook to
view a list of “recent” attachments for both incoming and outgoing messages.
This is on an iPhone 5S.

Has anyone found solutions to these problems?

 Best,

Re: Work Flow App?

2015-06-28 Thread Alex Hall
I don't use it extensively, but I do test it out and use it from time to time.
It's fully accessible, and the developers are really good about taking
accessibility-related feedback and making fixes/enhancements. It goes on sale
from time to time, but it may be worth the fully $5 to you. The
description--and all the articles you can find online--describe it well, and
anything they tell you about will be doable with VoiceOver, so you can decide
from there.

toggles between the for me at least, useless Emoji, and English. I'd like to

Hi,

If you go to settings, general, keyboards, and add keyboard, it should be in

Article about Apple Music and iTunes Match

2015-06-28 Thread Grant
Hi all,

FYI, I’m pasting a link to an article from a generally trustworthy iOS blog.
According to information posted publicly on Twitter by Eddy Cue, those who
purchase a subscription to Apple Music won’t need a separate iTunes Match
subscription as the functionality will be built-in. As well, apparently there’s
a chance that the 25K song limit will be bumped up to 100K for iOS 9. Here is
the article:

successful end to my iBook refund saga

2015-06-28 Thread Mary Otten
I am happy to report that my saga of the unreadable iBook ended
happily. After wasting way too much time with the terms and conditions, I did
what I should have done in the first place. I googled my question of how to get
a refund for an iBook. I got a link to an Apple support page where somebody had
asked and received an answer to a similar question. The answer included the
link to the page where you sign in with your Apple id, then fill out a simple
form, and presto! Within a few hours of submitting the report, I got a nice
email from an iTunes store rep stating that my account would be refunded. Now
I’ll buy the Kindle version, since their free sample read perfectly in the
Kindle app. Go figure.

FW: backing up and restoring books in Voice Dream Reader

2015-06-28 Thread Alan Lemly
Below is a response from Winston Chen when I asked about how to back up
voice Dream files independently using iTunes. I could not find the answer
Winston referenced about backing up with iTunes under the Support section of
the voice Dream website. However, when I followed what was under the FAQs on
the website, I didn't have any more success than I did when I originally
posted.

Hi,

My Internet connection is awful right now - I'm traveling. Reduced to just
email.

I recall having put an answer to this question under the support section on
my web site, http://www.voice dream.com.

The gist is, you can use iTunes, Apps, File Sharing section to move the
Voice Dream Library folder to your desktop. iTunes can't put an entire
folder back, and for that I suggest a desktop application called iExplore
which gives you full access to the folder structure on a iPhone.

Best,

Winston.

with
 iTunes.

I tried backing up the Voice Dream Library folder using the appropriate

to save it, I couldn't find any Voice Dream content. I also tried adding
files to my iPhone 6 using the file sharing section of iTunes but couldn't
locate anything that I saved in the previous step.

I know Voice Dream content will be restored with a full iTunes restore but
folks are looking for a way just to back up the Voice Dream content to

 this might be done.

placed focus on Voice Dream in the file sharing section, two folders are
presented as being on my iPhone within Voice Dream for which I can access
the Save To button in iTunes to save them to my computer, an Inbox and
the
Voice Dream Library. I saved the Voice Dream Library folder which shows
as
being 795MB in size so that would seem to be the correct one. However,
 after
saving it and perusing the folder where I placed it, I could not find
anything that looked like a book file or folder from Voice Dream with
Windows Explorer. When I tried reversing the process in order to add a
 file
from my computer to Voice Dream using file sharing in iTunes, I also
could
not find anything that looked like a Voice Dream book.

So, the long and short of the above is that I don't know how you can
independently back up your Voice Dream content to your computer. I will
 say
that I had to do a full restore of my iPhone 6 from an iTunes encrypted
backup do to a problem with the Fleksy Keyboard app upgrade and all my
 Voice
Dream books were in the app after the restore. So an iTunes encrypted
 backup
does back up that content but restoring it is an all or nothing endeavor.

If someone knows how to backup and restore just Voice Dream content to
 their
computer, I'd love to hear how.

Subject: backing up and restoring books in Voice Dream Reader

 Greetings, all.

I'm wondering if someone can give me instructions on exactly how to back
 up
and restore data from the Voice Dream Reader app. There has been some
talk
of a database file that may or may not be necessary, and I don't want to
back it up incorrectly, causing me to lose a pretty large number of books
 once I delete the app.

Thanks in advance, and I'm sorry if this is something super obvious that

RE: recommended app for podcasts

2015-06-28 Thread R Van Lant
Question on this thread… I haven’t subscribed to podcasts in years and not
since doing so with Juice on my laptop. I was looking at a podcast tonight and
saw they offer subscription. I was presented with a link to iTunes. Does
this mean that I could use iTunes on my phone to catch the podcasts or do I
need one of the apps you’ve all been talking about here? I’m still on IOS 7 on
an iphone 4, so I do not have the native app someone mentioned. Just trying to
wrap my head around podcasts now since I haven’t done it in years and really
want to listen to this particular one.

Thanks.

Robin

In the RSSRadio app, the reason they don’t recommend streaming is that the DSP
(Digital Signal/Sound Processing) effects cannot kick in when an undownloaded
episode is streaming. But you don’t have to have them on, and, other than that,
you can still increase the listening speed if desired and the episode plays
fine. DSP includes ‘silence skip’.

There is another good app, and it’s called RSSRadio. The fre version does
everything the pay version does, except you pay so as to remove the ads
once-and-for-all. It has everything one would reqauire in a pod-catcher. It
will stream podcasts if you want it to (although that isn’t recommended on iOS,
for fairly obvious reasons).

Subject: recommended app for podcasts

Hi, anyone have suggestions as to a free app for podcasts that lets me
subscribe to new ones and listen to them preferably to stream them instead of
download so as to save space?

Thanks, Dave
