 Hello Mary,
And voice dream reader, open audio settings, advanced audio settings while
a text book is loaded. You can make your changes there. It does not work
with the iOS voices, but it does work with the other voices you can
 purchase.

RE: arranging apps on IPhone 5

2017-06-13 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Latest is 10.3.2.
I can still use the double tap and hold method and then drag apps, but the
other method is so much easier and more reliable that I don't bother. But I did
just try it and it still works just fine since it is the way sighted users move
apps. The thing is that if you have a 3D Touch capablephone (6S/6S Plus or 7/7
Plus) you have to double tap and hold very lighttly to do this, if you press
down too hard you simply invoke the 3D Touch menu.

I am not, I'm using IOS 10.2.3. What is the latest version of IOS for the
general public. What I was referring to, is that some of the gestures to move
Apps are still kind of the same like they were in nine and below. But not
completely. For instance the double tap and hold to move the app, doesn't work
until you flaked down to arranging apps. That's all and that's but I have to
get used to whenever I need or want to do that. However, it's not very often
that I have to do so. Which is why I'm not very practiced.

RE: New siri voices in IOS 11

2017-06-13 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
They very publically said during the keynote that there is both a new american
male and female voice and they played them. Especially the new female voice
sounds very good and I would be very surprised if it would not be available for
Voiceover. SIRI voices have been available in iOS 9 and iOS 10 (maybe even iOS
8, can't remember if that is when it started) and I doubt they suddenly decide
to not make them available as Voiceover voices any more.

The drag-and-drop once you're in that editing mode still works though. So the
trick is, to grab the app that you want to move, and then put it on top of
another half that you wish to put it in a folder with. Then once this is done,
hold it there for thirty seconds and while lock, you have your folder created.

Hi, no I don't think that this'll be possible as it still did not show two
different codes. Don't thing that you could do, is making an encrypted backup,
of all your information, this meaning that it would store your password and
then Restore from that encrypted backup her phone, and maybe it will work that
way. If not, I will definitely talk with the banking question, or service in
question And see if they can set you guys up to be emerged. With the

Hi,
this does not work downloading the app on my wife’s phone. It shows a different
code to the one on my phone. When I think about it this is obvious as they are
time based for each app otherwise they would not be secure.
Can I copy my copy to the Automatically add to iTunes folder then sync with my

Thanks again for any ideas.

2017-06-13 Thread Julian
Nearby explorer can also be similarly configured to speak as much or as little
as you want. It all depends on your needs. That's what I really like about this
app.

RE: Please, I need recomendations for good quality bluetooth headset.

2017-06-13 Thread Mr. Ed
One more thought on these headsets. I wear hearing aids in both ears. My
hearing aids go behind the ear and the headset fits over them fine and does not
cause any issues.

Hi Maria,
I have the Wireless Logitech H800 which are around $50.00 on Ebay. You can also
find them on Amazon. They are very light and have a large soft pad that goes on
the ear. They have a nano that you can plug into your computer or you can
Bluetooth them to your computer or iDevice. I use them every day to talk on
Skype for four or five hours every day. They have good sound and the mic workds
well. Also the mic folds up into the headset to protect it when not in use.
Also the headset folds up it you want to travel with thjem.

Hello list,
please, would anyone recommend a stereo bluetooth headset with good, clear
sound and microphone for making Skype and facetime calls?
I have a bluetooth headset but the sound is like old phone and the microphone
is of the same quality. :-( The headset is quite decent for listening to music,
but making calls is a nightmare.
Thank you very much for any suggestions.
Have a wonderful day.

I have to say I like the AirPods myself. They fit very comfortable in my ears
and they look just like the ear pods that came with your phone. If you want
over-the-ear headphones, the beats solo 3 are very good. They have a great
sound also. Have a blessed day!

lazarillo, a new, free, GPS/orientation app, also for Android

2017-06-13 Thread Richard Turner

A coworker just sent out information on this app. It is free, and is similar to
Blind Square, but more simplified.
I've only played with it briefly. It is not quite as precise as Blind Square.
While sitting at an intersection of 12th and Belmont, it said that
intersection, then said 13th and Belmont. We were not going toward 13th, so I'm
not sure what that is about. But, it is free, so give it a try. It will do
turn-by-turn using Google Maps.
Here is the app store link:

Re: Dolphin easy reader, your thoughts?

2017-06-13 Thread Dave

This is to Marie, who is further down this thread, who talks about american
taxes paying for NLS audio books, and how they should not be available to
other blind people, who are not in America.

Well here is my view on that subject.

I think as blind people, who are all around this world of ours, and do not
have the access, that sighted readers have.

all our respective blind societies, should be able to share our catalogues,
and make them available to all.

The same goes to Audible, which give access to different books, depending in
which country we are in.

I would be happy to pay a fair subscription, to be able to have access, to
as many audio books as i can.

I am in the UK, and have many talking books available to me, through the
RNIB library, and i wouldn't mind at all, if they were made accessible, to
other blind and visually impaired persons around the world, regardless of my
UK taxes paying for it.

Hello Mary,
And voice dream reader, open audio settings, advanced audio settings while
a text book is loaded. You can make your changes there. It does not work
with the iOS voices, but it does work with the other voices you can
purchase.

I did not check what they charge for the non-iOS voices.
Voice Dream has many great features too that I'm sure they drew on in

If you wait a little while, you may find Voice Dream Reader also will
allow

for adjusting the pause between sentences.

At this point, I'll stick with Voice Dream as I like its layout, but
this is

a good option for a lot of folks. It is good to see they work with

Though, I have to question their claim to having the largest accessible

Hi,

there is newe book reader on appstore called dolphin easy reader, free,
it only requires of login using a dolphin account or sign up for a new
one, also free of charge.

What I find interesting is that while on this new app you can set up a
longer pause in between sentnces (using ios voices), the last VDR update
is uncapable of doing the same thing.

yeah, of course this app needs to be improved, but checking it out
rapidly its interface and settings is really basic and complete at the
same time for being free of charge.

This feature, add a longer pause in between sentences (for ios voices)
is very helpful if you are trying to learn another language.

Subject: Free Version of Capti Narrator and Voice Availability?

Hi List,

The Capti Voice Narrator app has gotten some buzz on the list lately so I
thought I'd try it out. I'm not interested in a subscription service costing
$20 a year so I'm testing the free version. My understanding from listening to
Thomas Domville's AppleVis podcast was that all your iOS voices which have been
downloaded to your device were available to Capti. However, I'm not seeing but
one from US English, Australian English, etc. in the available list from which
to pick. And the ones that are available sound like the standard as opposed to
the enhanced voices. I have downloaded to my iPhone 7 running iOS 10.3.2
several enhanced US English voices and the enhanced versions of the Australian
English, UK English, and South African English voices but I'm not seeing these
in the available voice list.

Can anybody who has had more experience with this app let me know what you're
seeing with available free voices? I'm sure I misunderstood what actually was
available but I'd like to confirm that.

Thanks in advance.

Alan Lemly

Problem with iPhone, apple watch and trekz titanium

2017-06-13 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi all,

Did any of you ever have problems with your titanium and the iPhone/watch
combination? I try to make a phone call using the trekz and, randomly it makes
the call through the iPhone speeker insdead of the headset. I am not sure that
having it paired also with the watch is making it worse. I reset evely device
and it was fine for a while but, after a few days, it's back now.
I find it so hard to diagnose. Is it device related, software related etc.
Any ideas or similar experiences?

a weather app that displays information via the icon

2017-06-13 Thread Bill Gallik
Hello all,

I hope I can make it clear what I'm looking for, I'm wondering if anybody can
suggest a Weather app that displays basic weather data with the icon on the
screen similar to how the Mail app will give a count of unread messages?

- Sent from Bill's iPhone 6 (iOS 10.3.2)

Free Version of Capti Narrator and Voice Availability?

2017-06-13 Thread Alan Lemly
Hi List,

The Capti Voice Narrator app has gotten some buzz on the list lately so I
thought I'd try it out. I'm not interested in a subscription service costing
$20 a year so I'm testing the free version. My understanding from listening
to Thomas Domville's AppleVis podcast was that all your iOS voices which
have been downloaded to your device were available to Capti. However, I'm
not seeing but one from US English, Australian English, etc. in the
available list from which to pick. And the ones that are available sound
like the standard as opposed to the enhanced voices. I have downloaded to my
iPhone 7 running iOS 10.3.2 several enhanced US English voices and the
enhanced versions of the Australian English, UK English, and South African
English voices but I'm not seeing these in the available voice list.

Can anybody who has had more experience with this app let me know what
you're seeing with available free voices? I'm sure I misunderstood what
actually was available but I'd like to confirm that.

Thanks in advance.

Alan Lemly

Hello Mary,
And voice dream reader, open audio settings, advanced audio settings while a
text book is loaded. You can make your changes there. It does not work with
the iOS voices, but it does work with the other voices you can purchase.

Voice Dream has many great features too that I'm sure they drew on in

If you wait a little while, you may find Voice Dream Reader also will

Hi,

there is newe book reader on appstore called dolphin easy reader, free,
it only requires of login using a dolphin account or sign up for a new
one, also free of charge.

Re: Please, I need recomendations for good quality bluetooth headset.

2017-06-13 Thread Carol Adams
Hi, it depends what you want! If you want them four just inside the house there
are lots of good earphones such as seven-day headband but if you want them for
out and about and more expensive then the AirPods from Apple Hope this helps,

 Hello list,
      please, would anyone
recommend a stereo bluetooth headset with
good, clear sound and microphone for
 making Skype and facetime calls?
I have a bluetooth headset but the
sound is like old phone and the
microphone is of the same quality. :-(
The headset is quite decent for
listening to music, but making calls is
 a nightmare.
Thank you very much for any
 suggestions.
 Have a wonderful day.

Re: Learning to code for IOS and MAC

2017-06-13 Thread 'RobH.' via VIPhone
mac has it's own scripting language, ios is a different beast, so doubt there
is a common product to work for both. I used to
code in C/C++, Pascal, Basic; and script for one wouldn't necessarily compile
let alone run, on another platform. The languages
have all changed now. It was all clicking on things and clicking on it's
things to make it do things... maybe; and that's been a
while ago. Writing long and complicated lines of code are long gone, even
though it is what we used to get good at.

Sorry I can't be more positive.
