They have several different plans starting at $89 for two hours a month and
ending at $329 for unlimited. If my memory serves me correctly. You should go
to the website www.Aira.org.

Re: Bee My Guide, Free in the Apple app store

2017-07-07 Thread Richard Turner

Folks, remember this was done by a high school student. I suspect he has a lot
to do in his senior year at high school. In my original post, I copied the
article that said he was in the 12th grade.
If you expect perfection on a first release, you are headed for disappointment.
I think the app is damned impressive for a first try.
Much like the iDentifi app, which sadly, has not been updated.
I would recommend people write supportive notes through the contact form on the
web site, also in my original post, and ask for the improvements/changes you
are wanting.
That is the only way the developer will find out what people want.

‘Bee My Guide’ – An app developed by a 12th grader to guide the visually
impaired

BY MUNMI BORA · AUGUST 25, 2016

bee my guide

With the help of an app, the visually impaired can now know exactly what is
around them in their immediate environment. All thanks to Pavan Chitta, a 12th
grade student from Greenwood High, Bangalore. He developed an app called ‘
Bee My Guide’, that enables the user to get an idea of the environment where
the app is used.

“I have utilized the already-existing concept of artificial intelligence. Using
Bee My Guide is simple. You can take a picture of what is in front of you
or rotate your phone in your immediate surroundings, and it will tell you,
through speech, whatever you need to know. It also reads out text messages and
mails that the user cannot see otherwise. Pavan Chitta.”

Bee My Guide has various other features such as My Vision, What’s around Me,
Find My Stuff, Check My Money, My Location and My Weather. If the user wants
to cook something, the app will inform them about the ingredients in front of
them. It also helps the user in bank transactions by informing them the value
of the money they are holding.

The idea of the app was born when Pavan visited a unique restaurant ‘Dialogue
in the Dark,’ where he dined in complete darkness and interacted with visually
impaired employees who were the guides at the restaurant.

UBER and payments

2017-07-07 Thread Jeremy Gilley
Good evening all,

Recently, my card got hacked and I have had to put a new card into the UBER
app.

However, when I try to schedule a ride, it shows that my method of payment
is now apple pay.

How can I change that to my visa card?

I went into the payment screen, but found no way to change the default
method from apple pay to my visa card.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi! Folks: I just downloaded the Bee My Guide app onto my iPhone 6 from the App
Store. I went to check on location I followed the directions and it asked me to
wait for reply then it kicked me off the program altogether. Also the same
thing for one other option on there. The weather function works fine. I have
not as yet tried the money function. Can anyone who uses this tell me why it

By Pavan Chitta

Description

The Bee My Guide is an app specifically created for visually impaired
people to help them have the experience of vision through visualisation and be
more

independent.

The following functions are available through this app:

(Device Camera should be used in Portrait orientation and *must* have a
back Camera)

1) My Vision:

This function allows the users to capture a photo, which is then processed
with the use of visual recognition API’s, and then what they are looking at

is spoken out to them, along with the text and description of the object(s)
in the photo. If the app detects a person, it will speak out the gender, age,

description (glasses, headgear, emotion) and also identify the person if he
or she looks like a celebrity.

2) Check My Money

This app also addresses the common problem faced by visually impaired
people across the globe when counting money. Currently set up to detect rupees
and

dollars. We are working on improving it to enhance the accuracy of the
results.

3) What's around Me?

This function asks you to rotate the device 360 degrees, scanning
everything around you tells you what is to your left/right/front and behind.
This enables

the visually impaired user to get a picture of the room or setting in which
he or she is situated.

4) Location:

Though this feature can be found with maps, this conveniently incorporates

This is true, Chris, but I'm seeing bad behavior on the public beta 1
that I have not seen in developer beta 1 or 2. I'm hoping Monday we
will see the next beta release!

Type instead of talk to Siri with iOS 11 - CNET
 Matt Elliott/CNET
Here's how my conversations with Siri usually go: press the Home button,
 ask
a question, realize I spoke before Siri was listening, press the Home
 button
again, ask the question, repeat the question because Siri misheard me,
 ask
again but louder because Siri still didn't get it right, curse Siri's
 name,
open the Google search app and ask it my question or just type it in.
Siri has some work to do, but with iOS 11 you can type or talk to Siri.
 Not
only does typing your queries to Siri avoid the issue of Siri mishearing
you, but it's also useful when you are sitting in a quiet coffee shop or
movie theater and want to ask Siri something.
To enable the feature, go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Siri
 and
toggle on Type to Siri. Now, when you long-press the Home button, Siri
 will
pop up with her familiar "What can I help you with?" question but with a
 search bar and keyboard below.
 Screenshot by Matt Elliott/CNET
If you want both options of typing and talking to Siri, you can enable
 the
"Hey, Siri" command so that you can utter those magic words to speak to
 Siri
and long-press the Home button to type to Siri. You'll find the Hey Siri
setting by going to Settings > Siri & Search.

Yes, it's working, but I'm on Developer beta 2. I have reason to
believe that these 2 builds are different based on some bug reports I
can't reproduce that have been happening on the public beta side. Most
of them are braille related, so I'm guessing no one here can try them.

Has any one heard rumors that a new version of Air Pods will be release in 2017?

2017-07-07 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Hi,

Has anyone heard rumors about a new version of Air Pods being released in 2017

I have been persuaded by Sieghard that some improvements would be useful, for
controlling more functions without the need for Siri, but also for a safety
mechanism to reduce the risk of loss from falling out of place. But, I do think
I'd like the sound quality and wireless convenience.

Thanks in advance, Keith

bee my guide

Taking the “What’s around Me?” function one step further, this function will
enable the visually impaired to locate the object they are looking for, in
terms of relative angle to their current position. The app prompts the user to
speak the word of the object that needs to be found and then starts the
scanning process discussed earlier. For example, if the user speaks the word
"books" and rotates the device, it will try and locate a book in the 360 degrees
view and tell them the direction they can find it, for example, 45 degrees to
your right etc.

Description

The Bee My Guide is an app specifically created for visually impaired people to
help them have the experience of vision through visualisation and be more

independent.

The following functions are available through this app:

(Device Camera should be used in Portrait orientation and *must* have a back
Camera)

1) My Vision:

This function allows the users to capture a photo, which is then processed with
the use of visual recognition API’s, and then what they are looking at

is spoken out to them, along with the text and description of the object(s) in
the photo. If the app detects a person, it will speak out the gender, age,

description (glasses, headgear, emotion) and also identify the person if he or
she looks like a celebrity.

2) Check My Money

This app also addresses the common problem faced by visually impaired people
across the globe when counting money. Currently set up to detect rupees and

dollars. We are working on improving it to enhance the accuracy of the results.

3) What's around Me?

This function asks you to rotate the device 360 degrees, scanning everything
around you tells you what is to your left/right/front and behind. This enables

the visually impaired user to get a picture of the room or setting in which he
or she is situated.

4) Location:

Though this feature can be found with maps, this conveniently incorporates into
the app to ensure less navigation from the user’s end.

5) Weather:

Uses weather API to get weather and speak out, which is another convenient
feature for the user.

6) Find My Stuff:

Taking the “What’s around Me?” function one step further, this function will
enable the visually impaired to locate the object they are looking for, in

terms of relative angle to their current position. The app prompts the user to
speak the word of the object that needs to be found and then starts the

scanning process discussed earlier. For example, if the user speaks the word
"books" and r

"books" and rotates the device, it will try and locate a book in the 360 degrees

view and tell them the direction they can find it, for example, 45 degrees to
your right etc.

* All functions require internet access and work best on higher upload
speeds. Response time depends on the internet speed. *

only provides accuracy to about 15 to 20 feet. This may be one of the
reasons why some of the Tomahawk missiles were slightly off target and
did not fully destroy the airport where the planes took off to dump
poison gas on the Syrian people.

The one centimeter accuracy will be available when the system is fully
deployed and only for those companies that pay a licensing fee. The
free version of Galileo will have an accuracy of three meters.

Bee My Guide, Free in the Apple app store

2017-07-07 Thread Richard Turner
Note, the word "bee" is spelled like the insect, b e e.

'Bee My Guide' - An app developed by a 12th grader to guide the visually
impaired

BY MUNMI BORA * AUGUST 25, 2016

bee my guide

With the help of an app, the visually impaired can now know exactly what is
around them in their immediate environment. All thanks to Pavan Chitta, a 12th
grade student from Greenwood High, Bangalore. He developed an app called '
Bee My Guide', that enables the user to get an idea of the environment where
the app is used.

"I have utilized the already-existing concept of artificial intelligence. Using
Bee My Guide is simple. You can take a picture of what is in front of you
or rotate your phone in your immediate surroundings, and it will tell you,
through speech, whatever you need to know. It also reads out text messages and
mails that the user cannot see otherwise. Pavan Chitta."

Bee My Guide has various other features such as My Vision, What's around Me,
Find My Stuff, Check My Money, My Location and My Weather. If the user wants
to cook something, the app will inform them about the ingredients in front of
them. It also helps the user in bank transactions by informing them the value
of the money they are holding.

The idea of the app was born when Pavan visited a unique restaurant 'Dialogue
in the Dark,' where he dined in complete darkness and interacted with visually
impaired employees who were the guides at the restaurant.

Description
The Bee My Guide is an app specifically created for visually impaired people to
help them have the experience of vision through visualisation and be more
independent.

The following functions are available through this app:
(Device Camera should be used in Portrait orientation and *must* have a back
Camera)

1) My Vision:
This function allows the users to capture a photo, which is then processed with
the use of visual recognition API's, and then what they are looking at
is spoken out to them, along with the text and description of the object(s) in

Though this feature can be found with maps, this conveniently incorporates into
the app to ensure less navigation from the user's end.

5) Weather:
Uses weather API to get weather and speak out, which is another convenient
feature for the user.

6) Find My Stuff:
Taking the "What's around Me?" function one step further, this function will
enable the visually impaired to locate the object they are looking for, in
terms of relative angle to their current position.

* All functions require internet access and work best on higher upload
speeds. Response time depends on the internet speed. *
