15 restaurant mobile apps that can save you money
By Paige DiFlore, Credit.com

Food is best served with a side of savings and restaurants with apps (that's
applications, not appetizers) that make it even easier to spend less. (

If you're planning to order in, eat out or grab a quick bite, you might as
well be rewarded for it. Even if you're on a budget , there are a lot of
ways to save at restaurants, but one of the most convenient is by using an
app. Below are 15 you can get for popular restaurants. All these apps are
free to download on both iOS and Android and are full of coupons, loyalty
programs and rewards.

1.
Buffalo Wild Wings. The Blazin' Rewards app makes it easy to earn points.
Earn 100 points for signing up and filling out a profile. For every $10
spent earn 100 more. Check in five times during lunch time and earn 300 more
points. Also earn points by checking in at the restaurant and having friends
check in. Like in many college classes, earn points just for showing up. The
rewards include bottles of sauce, beverages, appetizers, desserts and
entrees.

2.
Chili's. With the Chili's app, you can rack up Plenti Points by dining at
the restaurant. These can be redeemed at Chili's for appetizers, desserts
and more. As a member, you'll also receive a free dessert on your birthday
(here are 10 other places with birthday freebies ). These Plenti points can
also be earned or spent at other Plenti partners like Macy's, Mobil and Rite
Aid. The app also has bonus perks, like allowing you to add your name to a
wait list or order to go.

3.
Steak 'n Shake. Earn a free milkshake with your first purchase using the
Steak 'n Shake Rewards app. The app requires setting up a payment method to
redeem the milkshake. If you don't want to add a credit or debit card, earn
rewards by adding a gift card. For every $50 spent you earn $5 back to be
spent on food of your choice at any Steak 'n Shake location.

4.
Moe's Southwest Grill. The Moe's Rockin' Rewards app has plenty of perks.
Receive a free 'cup' of queso when you sign up and a free burrito on your
birthday every year. Log in through Facebook to earn an additional 50
points. Earn 10 reward points per $1 spent and for every 1,000 points
receive $10 credit to spend at any Moe's location.

5.
Chick-fil-A. The Chick-fil-A One app allows you to earn treats the more you
spend. To earn treats, you must place your order using the mobile device or
scan your personalized QR code within the app during each visit. This app
also allows you to skip the line by ordering on your phone.

6.
Burger King. While there is no point system, the BK app offers mobile-only
coupons that are in constant rotation. This app is worth checking for deals
before placing your order. RELATED:

7.
Cici's. The MyCici's app has a loyalty based rewards program. The app
requires you to scan your receipts. After five visits with $7 (before tax)
or more spent, you earn a free adult buffet or a free one topping pizza to
go.

8.
Whataburger. The Whataburger app encourages you to load a mobile payment
like a debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, or a Whataburger gift card. This isn't
required, however. All that's required is for rewards is having the app. To
track your visits, have the cashier scan the bar code on your phone. Every
five visits are rewarded with free food and for a visit to count you only
need to spend one cent.

9.
Outback Steakhouse. The Outback app allows you to earn rewards and keep
track of all Outback coupons in one place. It also gives 50% off of your
fourth visit (up to $20). The app has additional perks, like allowing you to
check in as soon as you're close to the restaurant so you're seated faster.
You can also pay with your phone to avoid waiting for the bill and, for big
groups, the app allows you to split the bill.

10.
Duffy's MVP Sports Grill. The Duffy's MVP app allows those who use it to
earn 20% to 50% off of their bill when they eat between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Monday through Friday. Tuesdays are double point days. Members also earn
free birthday rewards. MVP app users earn one point per $1 spent and 100
points automatically becomes a $10 reward credit to be spent at any Duffy's
MVP Sports Grill location.

11.
fresh This app requires you to link a credit card to it, so unless you
frequent fresh it may not be worth it. (You might want to check your
credit score for free with Credit.com before doing so to see where your
credit stands). You earn $3 for creating an account. By paying with your
mobile app and the card connected to it, you earn $9 for every $100 spent
with $1 is donated to a charity dedicated to ending childhood hunger. Plus,
you earn a free meal on your birthday.

12.
Schnippers. The Schnippers app allows you to earn $8 in rewards for every 10
visits. Scan your QR code and spend at least $8 at each visit for it to
count toward your reward.

13.
Hale & Hearty. The Hale & Hearty app gives you a $2 credit for downloading
and $2 per friend you refer. You'll

Jonathan,
Thank you! That was a really informative interview. I am so jealous of you all
having this app, being in Ireland, but he did sound helpful for other countries
to be joining you soon! One possible application for the facial recognition
channel would be, say, in the case of attending a conference or a lecture, if
people uploaded their own pictures and details to, for example, Facebook page,
or a special dedicated attendees website, and we could then download those
images/details, we could use our phones to look around the room and see who was
where!

there was mention, at the beginning of the interview, of the use of smart
glasses: I wonder if, even right now, we could Bluetooth some smart glasses to
our phones and link it to the app? in this way, freeing up our hands and
pointing, intuitively, with our faces.

just dreaming… Sandy

RE: Apple Music Questions

2017-07-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
The Automatic Downloads option refers to downloading items you purchase on
other devices not to Apple Music itself.
Example: if you turn on automatic downloads on your phone but not in iTunes and
you then buy a song from iTunes on the computer then this song will also
download to your phone because automatic downloads is on.
If you buy a song on your phone it will not download to your iTunes on the
computer unless you also turn on automatic downloads.
Then there is I believe also a setting which allows downloads only on WiFi
unless you tell it to also download via cellular data.

Hi,
It doesn’t do this all at once though. I mean I have some songs that still
have the download button available so still a little confused. Also I
purchased a few songs off the iTunes store a while ago and I was under the
impression when you do this the songs will be available on all devices off
line. A month or so after I did this I was treavelling somewhere by bus and
was listening to music on my phone. I don’t have a lot of data so pressed play
on a song and it wouldn’t play and it was one of songs I purchased from the
iTunes store.
Appologize for all the questions just a bit confused since I thought if you
purchased stuff from the iTunes store the songs are on your devices all
available off line.

There is no number pad in the phone app, it is one of the things that is

Subject: Questions on Apple Watch keyboard entry

I have the 2nd gen Apple Watch with the most recent updatedWatch OS version
and I have two questions about entering text.
1. Is it possible to touch type with VO? Having to double tap each character
is quite annoying and time consuming.
2. My doctor's office called the other day with one of those automated
appointment confirmation systems. When I took the call on the watch, I could
not for the life of me remember how to get a number pad up so I could press 1
to confirm the appointment.

Thanks in advance for any insights.

Apple Music Questions

2017-07-28 Thread Jen .
Hi,
I recently installed Apple Music. I have automatic downloads turned on and so
far I’ve just added the music to my library which if I understand correctly
means that I can only play the music when I am on wifi. I went in to my music
the other day and noticed that some of the songs seem to have downloaded to my
devices on their own.
How could this have happened since I didn’t press the download button on any of
the songs I added to apple music. Hopefully someone can clear this all up for
me.

Re: Some emoticon questions in texts

Jen,

You might find this list helpful.

To quickly find the beginning of a particular emoji category; with the emoji
keyboard on screen, if you touch just above the Home button you will find the 9
different tabs for each category. If you tap on one of the category tabs you
should be brought close to the beginning of the selected category. If not, a
few flicks left to right or vice versa should get you to the beginning.
Following the list below will also aid you in finding the beginning of each
category.

Jim, the hand gestures emojis are located in the Smileys & People
category. The hand gestures start with number 127 thru 154. When you first
use any of the hand gestures you will need to choose a skin tone before
the emoji is added to your message to select a skin tone...Find the emoji
you want to use. Tap on it. A list of skin tones will appear, going across
not up & down, either to the left or right of the emoji you have selected,

I'm going to answer Jen's question first. The red heart suit can be found
in the symbols category. It is emoji 1181 & can be found a few above the
clock times emojis. Heart suit is used to represent close friendship or
 love between 2 people.

Jim, the hand gestures emojis are located in the Smileys & People
category. The hand gestures start with number 127 thru 154. When you first
use any of the hand gestures you will need to choose a skin tone before
the emoji is added to your message to select a skin tone...Find the emoji
you want to use. Tap on it. A list of skin tones will appear, going across
not up & down, either to the left or right of the emoji you have selected,
tap on the skin tone of your choice & it will be added to your message.

I don't use dictation so I can't answer your question regarding using
 emojis when dictation.

2017-07-28 Thread Billy Maynard
hi,

the advantage to using favorets (not tuns of bookmarks I'd say) isthat you'd
have them on your sefary home screen when the address bar is blank so ifthere
were sights you visited often (daily or so) I'd say favorets is a good place
for those as they'd be right there on your sefary home screen when you open
sefary.

Subject: In Safari, is there an advantage to using either Favorites or
Bookmarks for saving websites?

  Hi,

I’m wondering if there is an advantage for using Favorites or Bookmarks in
Safari when saving webpages. I usually just bookmark a page rather than
Favoriting it. It seems that Favorites require an extra navigation step or 2,
but wondering if I could be all wet on this view.

Curious to know how others decide whether to Favorite or Bookmark, or if you
choose one or the other for different reasons, and what those differing reasons
may be.

  Thanks in advance, Keith

Questions on Apple Watch keyboard entry

2017-07-28 Thread Lynn Schneider
I have the 2nd gen Apple Watch with the most recent updatedWatch OS version
and I have two questions about entering text.
1. Is it possible to touch type with VO? Having to double tap each character
is quite annoying and time consuming.
2. My doctor's office called the other day with one of those automated
appointment confirmation systems. When I took the call on the watch, I could
not for the life of me remember how to get a number pad up so I could press 1
to confirm the appointment.

Thanks in advance for any insights.

Microsoft Outlook

2017-07-28 Thread christopher hallsworth
Evening everyone.

First, let me clarify the subject line a bit. This is the iOS app, and not the
desktop or webmail app we all should know and love/hate. Wow! Don't you think
the app is beautiful? I think this, along with the stock Mail app, are great
email clients for the iOS platform. I'm sure there are others, but these are
certainly on my top two smile. But, I do have a query. Did anybody mention on
here you can perform a "mass delete" i.e. selecting all messages at once before
deleting them? If so, how is this accomplished? I've looked into the email tab,
and there is no obvious way to do this. Otherwise, the app is excellent. Thanks
in advance for any responses.

Workflow and email actions

2017-07-28 Thread Cristóbal
Hello list,

So, I deal a lot with emails as part of my business. It involves accepting
or declining assignments by clicking on a corresponding link.

I’m looking for a more efficient and faster means of dealing with these
messages as they are often on a first come, first serve basis.

Using the workflow app or I guess some other equivalent, would it be
possible to set up a workflow to automatically click on an accept link in
this case when an email comes in from a particular email address or with
certain text in the subject line?

These emails in particular have both a link to accept as well as to reject.
I’ve already set up filters to where only the ones I’m interested in come
through so I’m not being bombarded with push notifications.

I’ve tried workflow in the past and never really made heads or tails of it.
I thought though, for this particular task, it would be ideal for what I
wish to accomplish.

Thanks,

RE: Juicebox not Charging

2017-07-28 Thread nanagoose4000
Sorry, I made a mistake. I have the Mophie Juice Pack case. Not a Juice Box.
But it is not working much at all. It does allow the phone to charge while
still in the case but it provides a very minimal charge to the phone when it is
switched on.

Sharon, what type and brand of Juice Box to you own?
I've got a neat little solar back up 12,000 Milla Amp that charges up my SE
lickety quick. I can't remember the company name nor the model number. But I'll
look it up later on today when I get back.

What are you using?

Just for the record the Juice box on my 6S now only charges the phone maybe
20%. At least I have had it a year and 10 months. Thank goodness my phone was
one of the 6S models that qualified for the free battery replacement from Apple
so the extra charging capacity is not quite so important now.

My JuiceBox is just seven months old and is not extending my iPhone 6S's
battery any longer. What has gone wrong, and is there a fix?

Thank you! That was a really informative interview. I am so jealous of you all

to be joining you soon! One possible application for the facial recognition
channel would be, say, in the case of attending a conference or a lecture, if
people uploaded their own pictures and details to, for example, Facebook page,

there was mention, at the beginning of the interview, of the use of smart

Donna,
Do you have a list of all these?
You seem to know which one is and where it is.
If there is a list somewhere, that would be a great resource.
Thanks,

I'm going to answer Jen's question first. The red heart suit can be found in
the symbols category. It is emoji 1181 & can be found a few above the clock

2 people.

Jim, the hand gestures emojis are located in the Smileys & People category. The
hand gestures start with number 127 thru 154. When you first use any of the
hand gestures you will need to choose a skin tone before the emoji is added to
your message to select a skin tone...Find the emoji you want to use. Tap on it.
A list of skin tones will appear, going across not up & down, either to the
left or right of the emoji you have selected, tap on the skin tone of your
choice & it will be added to your message.

I don't use dictation so I can't answer your question regarding using emojis
when dictation.

Donna

I am also wondering where you find the one that comes up white heart suit and
what does this symbol mean.

dictating them doesn't seem to work.
For instance, where do I find the OK hand, or most importantly, the Thumbs-up

Thanks.
