HomePod firmware reveals new interaction details, Accessibility support,
more

Earlier today Apple pushed out firmware for the HomePod smart speaker ahead
of its launch in December, and naturally developer Steve Troughton-Smith has
unpacked the code and discovered new details.

Sony A6500
HomePod firmware code (labeled AudioAccessory1,1) shows that the smart
speaker runs the full iOS stack like an iPhone without a screen and relies
on a shell app called SoundBoard (presumably like SpringBoard on iOS).
Like Apple's other products, HomePod will support accessibility features
including VoiceOver according to the firmware code.
The top surface area is also limited to the Siri design and plus or minus
symbols as press saw when viewing demo HomePods in June. This touch surface
area will be used to optionally activate Siri with a long press or interact
with music and volume control and timers.
Based on the firmware code, Troughton-Smith believes the illuminated part of
the HomePod top surface is an LED matrix versus a few large LEDs which could
support more than just plus and minus symbols and the Siri animation in the
future.
Despite running iOS code, however, it doesn't appear that the HomePod OS
will support third party apps or extensions in its current shape. Apple
could always add more developer opportunities to HomePod in the future after
shipping the core experience, of course.
HomePod is scheduled to ship sometime in December for $349 each.

Hello Kim, going to settings, go to contacts, then there will be something that
says default account, double tap on that if it does not's say iCloud after the
word defaults. In here, you will be able to pig where your contacts go after
they're created. I hope this helps. And , please use my phone number below and

Wow. I just got around to recognizing my first product and I have to say I am
quite impressed. A lot of thought obviously went into how to make this usable.
It is really nice when it works as it did for me upon first use.

Make sure you are not too close to the package or whatever you are trying to
scan. If you get too close it will stop beeping, or not even start. Ten to
fifteen inches is good, then move the phone very slowly from side to side and a
little closer or a little farther away when the beeping starts. I had to
practice that a bit before I was successful. If you move too quickly the
beeping will also stop and you'll have to start over.

When I make sure I'm on the product channel, the camera doesn't even appear to
be trying to find the product. I hear no beeping or anything, but when I'm on
the short text Jannel for example, and I tap it, it starts recognizing. I don't
know why.

RE: Accessible Voice recorder editing.

2017-07-29 Thread Richard Turner
Hi,
Audio Memos Pro will let you merge two files.
Or, more if you wish.
Once you have your files recorded that you want to become one file one after or
before the other, you hit Edit, then double tap on each one, then find the
merge button toward the bottom and activate it.
Then, each part will show its beginning (called left) and its ending (called
right) and then there will be a reorder button next to it so you can double tap
and hold on that and slide it before or after the other file.
Once you activate the merge button, they will be combined and the file name
will have each file within it with plus between them so you know what is
contained in that merged file.

Yes. They really did so.
You have to check out and search in the app itself. Good luck with it.
Its complicated.

status. I logged onto Skype after a very long time and did not like the new

And lastly where can I find how much Skype out Balance I am left with. I will

Hi Kim, okay. In addition to Richard's suggestion of making sure that contacts
is turned on under iCloud. You might want to make sure that under contacts,
iCloud is selected to be the default. This means, whenever you create one
contact from your work phone, it will automatically sync over to your other
devices that are using iCloud. A big thanks to Tim Kilbourne who gave me this
suggestion.

RE: Getting contacts in one place?

2017-07-29 Thread Richard Turner
Are Contacts checked in the iCloud settings on both phones?
If so, and they are not synking, perhaps calling Apple Accessibility would be a
good idea.

Thank you for repeating. As far as I can tell both phones has the same iCloud
info yet the contacts are not synced.

RE: app that slows down music

2017-07-29 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Hi Paul,

The reason I wrote to the list was to get help with similar problems I was
encountering. I’ve tried a variety of things, which seem to work only
sporadically.

To adjust the speed, I’ve had luck finding the speed slider you mentioned,
doing a double tap and hold, then slowly dragging partially to the left to slow
it down and to the right to speed it up. It’s kind of sensitive, so it doesn’t
take much of a movement to make a change from, say, 100% to 70%. If I use the
tip of my finger for the double tap and hold, I can get a meaningful speed
change just by slightly tipping my finger vertically from straight up and down,
to about 30 degrees left or right.

Once, I had some success after the double tap and hold by dragging my finger up
and down instead of left and right, but this didn’t work for me except very
occasionally. When it worked, it seemed like the up and down movement changed
the speed more gradually.

I think the trick is to use double tap and holds, but I’m interested in
adjusting and modifying the loop settings. I can do this to a degree, but not
with the ease I think the app is designed for. If you figure anything out,
please let me know.

Keith

Hi Keith and anyone else who is using the amazing slow downer app. I
downloaded the light version and I’ve read through the help file. Either I’m
not quite bright or the help file isn’t helpful. I have a song imported, at
least I think I do, but I can’t seem to figure out how to slow the piece down.
I want to be sure I can use the app before I invest $15 in it. Could someone
clarify the steps. I’ve tried putting a slower BPM in the edit box, and have
tried sliding on the slider to get the tempo to change. All to no avail. I’d
also like to know if this app works for music that one has recorded on the
IPhone. I’m using an IPhone 7 running 10.3.3. If you’d like to write me off
list my email is pau...@roadrunner.com. Thanks
very much.
God bless!

Some of the cheaper packs have 6 month or less warranty. That brand probably
has a year. Contact them for a replacement.

Mophie Battery Case

Mophie; it no longer charges. Have others had trouble with Mophie battery
packs? What are others using to charge their phones that go right onto the

RE: app that slows down music

2017-07-29 Thread Paul and Paula Jordan
Thanks very much.

God bless!

Amazing Slow Downer. I recall there is a limited function free app, and a
version for purchase, but I’m not sure what the price was or is. Keith

Hi all. A little while ago someone mentioned an app that will slow down music
that’s on your phone. Could someone please refresh my memory. I’d like to try
it. I thought I’d saved the email, but can’t find it now. Thanks very much.

RE: Juicebox not Charging

2017-07-29 Thread Rob
My first Mophie case stopped charging the phone after about 2 years I think. I
took it back to the Apple store since I didn't know if the problem was the case
or the phone. I had bought both the phone and case from the Apple store and I
had AppleCare.

They determined that the problem was the case and not the phone. They gave me
a new case.

Sorry, I made a mistake. I have the Mophie Juice Pack case. Not a Juice Box.
But it is not working much at all. It does allow the phone to charge while
still in the case but it provides a very minimal charge to the phone when it is
switched on.

Sharon, what type and brand of Juice Box to you own?

I've got a neat little solar back up 12,000 Milla Amp that charges up my SE

look it up later on today when I get back.

Just for the record the Juice box on my 6S now only charges the phone maybe
20%. At least I have had it a year and 10 months. Thank goodness my phone was
one of the 6S models that qualified for the free battery replacement from Apple
so the extra charging capacity is not quite so important now.

Re: Correction to Emoji list

2017-07-29 Thread Jan Kleinhans
Hi

Is there a easier way to get to any of these? They all have a number, so is
there a way to go to a specific one using the number rather than swiping
through them all?

Richard,

No, I don't have a list of the emojis. I do use emojis a lot when sending
text messages, Facebook post & comments. The emojis are pretty much straight
forward in the way they are categorized. The only 2 categories of emojis that
don't make much sense on how they are grouped together are the Objects &
Symbols categories. The first 30 emojis are the emojis that are most
frequently used. 31 through 320. are Smiley's & People. 321 through 566 are
Food & Drink. 567 through 646 are Activity Emojis. 647 through 765 are Travel &
Places. 766 through 938 are Object Emojis. 939 through 1,209 are Symbols
Emojis. 1,210 through 1,462 are Flag emojis.

  Hope this helps.

Donna,
Do you have a list of all these?
You seem to know which one is and where it is.
If there is a list somewhere, that would be a great resource.
Thanks,
Richard

  Hi Jen & Jim

I'm going to answer Jen's question first. The red heart suit can be
found in the symbols category. It is emoji 1181 & can be found a few above the
clock times emojis. Heart suit is used to represent close friendship or love
between 2 people.

Jim, the hand gestures emojis are located in the Smileys & People
category. The hand gestures start with number 127 thru 154. When you first use
any of the hand gestures you will need to choose a skin tone before the emoji
is added to your message to select a skin tone...Find the emoji you want to
use. Tap on it. A list of skin tones will appear, going across not up & down,
either to the left or right of the emoji you have selected, tap on the skin
tone of your choice & it will be added to your message.

I don't use dictation so I can't answer your question regarding using
emojis when dictation.

I am also wondering where you find the one that comes up white
heart suit and what does this symbol mean.

  Good morning,

I have a question about using some emoticons, especially in texts.

I have the emoticon keyboard, and I see all the categories, such
as smileys and such. But, there are a few that are commonly used that I don't
see, and dictating them doesn't seem to work.

For instance, where do I find the OK hand, or most importantly,
the Thumbs-up sign? Does anyone know about some of these commonly used ones?

  Thanks.

  Jim
