Wow. I just got around to recognizing my first product and I have to say I am quite impressed. A lot of thought obviously went into how to make this usable. It is really nice when it works as it did for me upon first use.

If you get too close it will stop beeping, or not even start. Ten to fifteen inches is good, then move the phone very slowly from side to side and a little closer or a little farther away when the beeping starts. I had to practice that a bit before I was successful. If you move too quickly the beeping will also stop and you'll have to start over.
