Re: Iphone watch

2018-10-15 Thread Anna Dresner
Hi Jeremy,

You get all bands off the same way. There's a small button on the back of the
watch in the middle of the place where the band joins the watch. Push in on it,
and slide the band out of the slot.

To turn off the watch, hold in the side button for a few seconds, until the
watch vibrates. Then double-tap Power Off.

HTH,
Anna

Hello all,

I just got my new series 4 today.

Needing some help.

It came with 2 bands. the original and the one I wanted.

In my excitement, I put the wrong band on.

I was able to get one side off, but can't figure how to get the other side

Help please?

Also, I tapped on power off, but it won't shut off and its driving me nuts

Re: battery drain in ios 12

2018-10-15 Thread Lisa Belville

Hi.

I've got an iPhone SE and I've noticed the same thing.  Before iOS 12, I
could sit my phone down with a 100% charge and it would lose maybe one
or two percent over several hours even with notifications and an
occasional in-coming call.  Now my phone loses about 2 percent battery
an hour, and this is with it on stand by with no calls or other apps
running.

I've made sure auto brightness is off and I had to re-disable automatic
fetching for my Email.  I've also made sure location services are off
except when they are necessary.

I've also done a hard reset and it hasn't made a difference.

Other than that I like iOS 12,

Lisa Belville

RE: Question about voice dream reader content sources

2018-10-15 Thread Alan Lemly
John,

I see that Richard has already given you the developer contact information you
requested but I'm trying to understand what exactly your friend or client is
trying to accomplish. I've read through the email history and do I understand
correctly that she has a website from which she wants to upload content into
Voice Dream Reader? I saw the mention of the Ubidisk app butI don't believe
that app is still available in the Apps Store so it seems as if Apple no longer
sanctions it. If you go to the Voice Dream Reader main screen and execute the
Add button in the upper left corner, the last option is a More button which
when executed gives you another screen of choices with the last one being Add
Web Content source. That one seems right on point and has your contact tried it?

Voice Dream seems to offer many ways to get content into it including many
cloud services so I'm confused as to exactly what your contact is trying to
accomplish.

Thanks for any additional details you can provide.

Voice dream reader allows you to add a content source of your liking from there
you can download your book or documents

I want to add a personal website where I store some documents My question is
whether it’s possible and will it remain personal to me VDR developers are

Hi Richard,

You would think this can be turned off or on in Settings, but I also can’t
find it. However, if you start playing a Podcast and tap on the “Effects”
button you can see if it is turned on there and you can turn it off if it is on
or on if it is off.

Also, if you go to Settings and look for “SIRI Shortcuts” under the
Advanced heading you can set up a SIRI shortcut to turn on and off Smart Speed.

There are also many other options for setting up shortcuts, you can set up
one for example for playing, pausing, skipping and rewinding etc. I just set
one up for playing and called it “Play Overcast”.

There are also SIRI Shortcuts you can set up for each of your Podcasts,
e.g. if you have subscribed to Applevis you can tap on it and record a phrase
like “Play Applevis on Overcast”.

The one reason why at one point I really tried to use the Apple Podcast app
was because it works with SIRI, now with SIRI Shortcuts and Overcast already
having implemented this feature there is even less reason. Now I just wish
Audible would allow users to set up SIRI Shortcuts so I could say “Play
Audible”.

Regards,

Sieghard

First, I have to admit to being wrong about one thing in Overcast, you cannot
get the time of an episode until you have started to play it, but you do not
have to download it.
Now, on to your question about iOS 12. It is the best and most stable release
yet from Apple, but I cannot answer your question about whether you will be in
trouble since I do not know what version you are currently using. If you are
using iOS 11.4.1 then all indications are you will be fine and will not lose
any functionality.
I cannot speak to earlier versions that might let you use apps that are still
32 bit, since those will not run any longer.

HTH,
Richard

Hello, I was listening to your comments on the most accessible podcast apps.
I was interested in getting overcast. I attempted to download and install
overcast and it said, you need to use ios 12. Now, I am not the most or even
close to being savvy with teck. Am I looking for trouble if I install the
latest ios? Of course there is a learning curb but, will I be able to send
txt, and other daily tasks before I get oriented with ios 12? Thank you, your
wisdom is so valuable to those like me. Andy and Shubert
