Use Maps on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, Apple Support

2019-10-08 Thread M. Taylor
Use Maps on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Use Maps to get directions with real-time traffic information, explore new
places, share your E.T.A., save your favorite locations, and more.

Get directions
1. Open Maps and enter your destination.
2. Tap Directions, then choose Drive, Walk, Transit, or Ride.
3. Select the route you prefer. Maps shows the fastest route first
based on traffic conditions.
4. Tap Go. To see an overview of your route, tap "Tap for Overview" in
the banner. You can also tap Share E.T.A. to share your location with
someone.
5. To end navigation, tap End, then tap End Route. You can also ask
Siri to "Stop Navigating" when you have Hands-Free turned on.
When you start moving, Maps updates its position to give you a better sense
of direction. You can also use your finger to scroll ahead to see any
obstructions on your route. Maps also helps you avoid missing a turn or an
exit by suggesting the lane you should be in while driving.

To avoid tolls or highways, go to Settings > Maps, then tap Driving &
Navigation. Tap the slider for Tolls or Highways.

Add a detour and adjust your settings
Need to stop for gas on your way to dinner? Add a detour to your trip:
1. Tap the gray line while you're navigating to open the menu.
2. Select an option, like Gas Stations. Maps will show you a list of
nearby places.
3. Tap Go. Maps will add the detour to your original route.
4. Tap the blue banner at the top of the screen to resume your route.

To get detailed directions, swipe up on the menu while you're navigating and
tap Details. You can see your trip overview and adjust your Navigation Voice
settings from the same menu bar.
If you paired your device to Bluetooth in your car, you can manage the
Navigation Voice settings. Learn how to use Maps with Bluetooth.

Share your E.T.A. in Messages

Share your E.T.A. in Messages
Share your ETA in Messages
Need to share your E.T.A. with someone? Now you can share your location,
route, and destination with anyone in your Contacts list. Here's how:
1. Tap the gray line to open menu while you're navigating.
2. Tap the Share E.T.A. button.
3. Select one of your recent contacts, or tap Contacts to select someone
from your list. Maps will automatically send your E.T.A. through Messages.

Add or remove your favorites
Want quick access to your frequent locations? Whether you want Maps to
remember your home or office, adding favorites is easy: Here's how:
1. Open Maps and select a location.
2. Scroll down and tap Add to Favorites.

To name, share, or remove a favorite:
1. Open Maps and tap See All.
2. Swipe left over the favorite, then tap Share or Remove. You can also
tap the info button next to the favorite to change the label, share your
E.T.A., and more.

Create a Collection
Want to keep track of all your favorite restaurants or parks? You can create
a Collection so you can access the whole list at the same time. Here's how:
1. Open Maps, tap New Collection, then add a name.
2. Select a location, then tap the Add to button .
3. Choose the collection that you want to add it to.

To see a collection you created, open Maps and tap the collection name to
see the list of places. You can create as many collections as you want and
add as many locations to a collection. You can also share collections with
friends and family. Just tap the collection, scroll down, then tap the share
icon .

Get Transit alerts
Maps gives you real-time transit information like outages, cancellations, or
service interruptions. You can also add transit lines that you frequent to
your Transit Lines Collection to see any service interruptions in real-time
using your Today Widget View.
Add a transit line to your Transit Lines Collection:
1. In Maps, select a transit line that you want alerts about.
2. Swipe up on the Transit card.
3. Tap the Add to button .
4. Then select the collection you want to add it to or create a new
collection.

Mark the distance between two locations
You can use markers to mark your current location. You can also drop a
marker to show the distance from one location to another.
To mark a location:
1. Tap the info button in the upper-right corner of Maps.
2. Then tap Mark My Location. You can also touch and hold your finger
on a specific area to mark its location.

To get directions between two locations other than your current location:
1. Tap a landmark icon or drop a marker.
2. Tap Directions, then tap My Location and enter a different point of
interest.
3. To change your start point, tap the text bar. You can also tap to
swap your start and end points.
4. Tap Route. Maps will show you the fastest route.
To remove a marker, tap the marker, tap Edit Location, then tap Remove
Marker.

Search for places nearby
You can use Nearby to search for things that are near your location, like
food and entertainment. To find nearby

RE: Problem continuously scrolling in native Twitter app

2019-10-08 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Christina,

As I have not yet encountered this issue, and therefore cannot rap my mind
around it, all I can suggest is that you and anyone who has had this problem,
contact Twitter via a Tweet @TwitterSupport, on the web at help.twitter.com,
and/or by posting your comments in the App Store.

I have now run into the same problem as Kathy, except I had to scroll back
quite a bit. I was like 2 or 3 days back before the page would not scroll
anymore. I tried scrolling up and then back down twice to see if that would
force it to load more tweets and that didn’t work. So, I see what Kathy is
talking about, but I had to go way way back in my timeline to encounter this.

Past updates had restored the show more tweets button, but with this
latest, it’s gone again. After reading what it allows you to, there is a
new tweets button, but that puts you back at the top. I know probably they
are thinking people want to know what’s happening right then, but it
should be my choice when I want to go to new tweets. Placing one finger in
the middle of the screen and holding doesn’t seem to work now for letting
me go past the point where the display stops.

It is still there, they just changed the name. Look for number of bonuses.
This is the amount of gold you have.

Hope this helps.

No, it's the iOS. It's jumping all over in messages too just since this update.
Really a mess.

I literally was checking my email just before heading out to go to the
Apple store to get my phone looked at.
It has been doing really crazy stuff for the past two days.
After I saw this email, went in to general and keyboards, made the
change and it seems to be working fine.
Here are some of the crazy things it was doing; A lot of them I would
never think would get fixed with just that change.
cursor bouncing all over the place
Voice Over shutting down for no apparent reason
Lots of intrusive messages such as
Try this and try that
Suggested this and that messages
intrusive autofill when typing
"voice control is not listening" every 3 seconds when I was on the phone
I think there were more, but I can't remember them all.
It was super bizarre behavior.
My daughter and son-in-law are major geeks and can usually fix
anything strange going on with my phone and they couldn't figure out
what was going on this time.
Thank you, you guys, you saved me a very time consuming trip to the Apple Store.

For the person having trouble reading email.
I don't usually delete my email the way you described, but I tried it
to see what you might be talking about.
I swipe to get to the body of the email, so don't know if you're doing
the reading part that way.
Then at the bottom it does only say from left to right, "Archives" and
"More Actions Available"
When I tapped on "More actions available" it opened up and then across
the bottom it did not seem to have delete, but it has several rows of
a ton of other stuff. I guess you'd have to tap on move to trash or
junk to get rid of it.
Has someone else found the delete button?
Teresa☺

sever problems with the cursor moving, usually to the top of my email
inbox list. I am having to use my iPhone 6, luckily, still running 12.4
or whatever it is Is anyone else getting this behaviour? If I open
an email to read it, then exit, I am placed back at the top of the
inbox, as my inbox has many, many, messages in it, and I have to trawl
through hundreds on a daly basis, my 8 has become unusable for mail. I
have tried a reset settings, but it made no difference.

 Help please! Sandy.

Re: IOS 13.1.2 Cursor jumping all over the place in the email app

2019-10-08 Thread Lynn Schneider
It does not work for me When it comes to reading messages. I’m not sure if you
all are talking about reading or composing. Definitely, turning it off helps
with composing, but reading is another issue altogether. I spend so much time
just looking for the body of a message that it is ridiculous. And in the past,
I was able to swipe up to the delete button and just double tap it to delete a
message. Now, I cannot do that anymore and sometimes the delete button is
nearly impossible to find, Even at the bottom of the screen. For me at least,
reading mail is dreadful right now and I really hope it gets fixed soon.

Hi All,

Before anyone says let the developer know, I already have. LOL

Using the current version of Dice World on an iPhone XR running version 12.
Wanted to check to see if anyone else is having the below issues.

After watching a video the app crashes and I have to open the app again.
The rematch does not show up when you loose a game.
How do you advance to the next game after watching a video if the app dos not
crash?

I can't understand why so many people say it's so good, yet on Apple's
Website it has a two-stars rating.

Original message:

Hi. I'm looking for a good battery case for my iPhone 8. I've been
reading reviews and I'm leaning toward either a Mophie Juice Pack or
an Apple Smart case as these two cases seem to offer a huge amount of
battery time for both talk and Internet usage. However, I'm open to
other recommendations as well as any warnings as to why Apple or
Mophie might not be the most ideal choices. I'm currently using a
Supcase Unicorn Beetle which I love as it's reasonably thin and light
and seems to offer decent protection. I don't really want to give up
that case but I do need something that offers an extra battery. I'd
ideally like something thin although I don't think Mophie cases are
known for being all that thin. I'd also like something that can still
use the lightning port.

RE: Dice World

2019-10-08 Thread Paul and Paula Jordan
Hi dice world players. I have a couple of questions. Since the update I'm
having trouble finding the final scores after the game is complete. I like to
play the computer, so that leads me to the next question. I have paid to have
ads removed, and have several thousand pieces of gold. I've been using the
free version until now. Someone on this list said they were able to unlock
levels and play other computer opponents. How do I do that?I know I'm not
using the game to its fullest and am ready to explore and learn more. I play
yatzee. Thanks.
God bless!

Using the current version of Dice World on an iPhone XR running version 12.
Wanted to check to see if anyone else is having the below issues.

After watching a video the app crashes and I have to open the app again.
The rematch does not show up when you loose a game.
How do you advance to the next game after watching a video if the app dos not
crash?
