It does not work for me When it comes to reading messages. I’m not sure if you all are talking about reading or composing. Definitely, turning it off helps with composing, but reading is another issue altogether. I spend so much time just looking for the body of a message that it is ridiculous. And in the past, I was able to swipe up to the delete button and just double tap it to delete a message. Now, I cannot do that anymore and sometimes the delete button is nearly impossible to find, Even at the bottom of the screen. For me at least, reading mail is dreadful right now and I really hope it gets fixed soon.
