Re: Native Mail app focus issues under iOS 13.2

2019-11-01 Thread Bill Outman
I am not using Braille and see the misspelled words issue you all are
referencing. I am noticing the issues with focus in 13.2 as well, say, when
deleting a message or thread, and had reported this when I went to 13.1 and got
the can’t be reproduced response and was recommended to screen share. This
behavior had seemed to quiet down by 13.1.3 but is cropping up more again.

Are you on iOS 13? I also did not know that this was introduced as a new
feature, pretty sure this was not possible in iOS 12.

I just tried to delete a ringtone and it did not work at all. I went to sounds
in settings, hit the button for ringtones, when I got to one I wanted to
delete, I swiped both up and down, and nothing happened.
I found no delete button at all.

Turning off road or options

2019-11-01 Thread Chuck Dean
Hello everybody,
I would like to turn off two things in the rotor, but for some reason I can’t.
The first thing says

selected Braille Table dimmed
And the second thing says selected language dimmed
I am sure I have something turned on that I shouldn’t, but I don’t know what it
is. Does anyone know how I can turn these two things off, which I never use,
and do not need in my rotor?

RE: Apple TV Plus

2019-11-01 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
But unfortunately not Apple Watch, my wife and I spend $1,500 Canadian for 2
series 5 Apple Watches, but if we bought a $249 Apple TV we'd get the 1 year of
free Apple TV. I understand that it's supposed to be free with purchase of
devices which support the TV app, but I think Apple could have given people who
buy a new Apple watch the deal as well.

Let me try and answer this.
Any device, new or old, bought on or after 10 September 2019, will qualify for
a one year free trial of Apple Tv+. These devices include iPhone, iPad, iPod
Touch, Mac and Apple Tv.
Hope this helps.

Apple stopped development on their AirPower Wireless Charger.

You can buy wireless charging pads and stands on Amazon or from other
retailers, brand name ones like Mophie here in Canada can be around $50 or even
$80, Anker and many other lesser known brands can be had on Amazon for $20 to
$30 and they also seem to work just fine. You probably want to make sure it

Yes there is.
Look on the today screen.
There is a category for batteries
You can also press the Bluetooth earpiece and ask Siri to give you the battery
levels and it will.

If you go to turn off the passcode, Apple will come up and strongly urge you
not to do this, predicting all sorts of dire things, and it will tell you that
all the credit cards you have stored in the phone will be deleted from the
phone, so if you buy something, you have to put the credit card info in. This
is for security reasons, but just be aware. You can certainly turn off the
passcode, and I have been sorely tempted to do just that when it keeps coming
up and asking for it even though I have touch ID enabled. Anyway, good luck.

I have not updated to iOS 13, so I don't know if things have changed.

This is based on the last version of iOS 12.

Go to Settings.
Double-tap Touch ID and Passcode.

You have to enter your Passcode before you can continue to see the next screen.
The first heading is "Use touch ID for".
Turn off any of the items that are on.

The next heading is "FINGERPRINTS".
There will be a button like "Finger 1" for each fingerprint you have created.
You can double-tap the button. Then you will find a button to delete the
fingerprint.

On the next page of Touch ID and Passcode settings, you will find entries for:
Turn Passcode off
Require Passcode

Hope this helps.

Re: Native Mail app focus issues under iOS 13.2

2019-11-01 Thread Robin Frost
Hi Sir,
Yes it’s a thing and I called Apple today and was first told they knew not of
it. When I gave my Apple ID of course he brought up the ticket associated with
me at least. Sadly as these things go while screen sharing it wouldn’t manifest
at will so I could show the man but I did explain that while it’s still prone
to happen it is a smidge so in iOS 13.2 for me. Nevertheless it is an
inconvenience.
Do join in reporting to to Apple Accessibility if you’d be so kind.
Take good care.

Subject: Native Mail app focus issues under iOS 13.2

Hi List,

I think this subject might have been previously discussed so I apologize as I
only upgraded to iOS 13.x on Tuesday of this week.

I use the native Mail app for reading my Gmail account emails and I have it set
to display messages in threaded mode. I'm noticing that when focus is on a
message group with multiple messages, that when I single finger swipe down and
select expand to open the list of messages in the group that focus jumps
several screens up or down rather than leaving me at the top of the opened list
as it did in iOS 12.4.1. I get similar screen jumps and loss of focus when I
single finger swipe to contract the opened thread.

I'm also noticing that when I open a single email that isn't part of a group,
that focus isn't on it any longer when I go back to my message list using
either the back button or the scrub gesture.

This loss of focus makes reading emails on my iPhone 8 a royal pain and I'm
wondering if others are experiencing it. If there is a workaround, I'd love to
hear it or if this is a known issue, I'd love to know that too. I plan on
writing Apple Accessibility to report this but I wanted to check with this list
first before doing that.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Alan Lemly

You can delete sounds in the settings screen. On your IOS device go to
settings, sounds, and select a category like ring tone, text alerts, or mail.
Once you do that it will put you in your list of sounds, swipe up or down on
the tone you want to delete, and it will delete that sound.

iPhone 8, please help if possible

Hi to all. A friend of mine has an FTP server where I thought he used to

have some ring tones for the iPhone. I sent him an email and he sent me

this huge zipped file with loads of ring

sometimes I cannot get the key-board and dictate button to come up in messaging

2019-11-01 Thread Terri Hedgpeth
Here is what happens in text messaging when I try to reply to someone.

I open a message >

double tap on the message area near the bottom of the screen >

this is when the virtual key-board typically pops up;

However, since upgrading to 13.2, sometimes the key-board will not come up.
Instead it shows a bunch of options like custom Emoticon's and other things.

Ideas?

Best,

Terri Hedgpeth

transferring purchased music from iPhone to itunes

2019-11-01 Thread Donald Raikes
Hello,

Recently I purchased some music from itunes and it is on my iPhone. I
want to transfer it to my pc using itunes.
My understanding is that i plug in my iphone to the pc, open itunes
and select file -> devices -> transfer purchases.

However, the synch and transfer options under file -> devices are
disabled even though I have authorized itunes on this pc.

PC is windows 10 running the latest version of itunes from the windows store.

Any thoughts?

Re: What's That Game Called?

Dani

If you know the name of the braille typing app, find the app in the app store.
Once you have found the app & have opened to read about the app info, swiping
just past the cost of the app you will find a More button. If you tap on More
one of the choices is to see More by the developer. Choosing this will bring up
a list of apps that the developer currently has in the app store. If the app
you want is withoin the list, you get the app as you normally would.

Re: copying from mail to notes

2019-11-01 Thread Donald Raikes
When I am in the share option, I don't see an option for creating a
new note which is what I would really prefer to do so I can keep these
items separate.

BTW: I am running iOS 13.1.3 if that makes a difference.

You can delete sounds in the settings screen. On your IOS device go to
settings, sounds, and select a category like ring tone, text alerts, or mail.
Once you do that it will put you in your list of sounds, swipe up or down on
the tone you want to delete, and it will delete that sound.

RE: Raising The Volume On An Xr iPhone Question Please.

2019-11-01 Thread janet gross
HI Chris,
Thank you for this, but after I found the control center, and raised the volume
to 100 percent, I quickly found out the side buttons do the samething, so
unfortunately this doesn't help, as even when I raise the volume to 100
percent, it still is to low. My iPhone 6 sounds so much better than my iPhone
xr. Go figure! LOL!

There is a volume control in the Control Center. Typically you would touch the
status bar and then swipe three fingers up from the bottom to get to the
control center.

Hope this helps,

Hi Everyone,
Can someone please tell me how to raise the volume on my Xr phone running
12.4.1? It has been a little lower than I like it to be, and this is even when
I'm playing Apple Music. I've used the up and down volume buttons on the sied
of my phone, but those buttons raise the sound just a little, but just not
enough.
Thank you in advance.

RE: Native Mail app focus issues under iOS 13.2

2019-11-01 Thread lange85
Hi,

The “misspelled Words” item in the rotor is definitely a bug. Here’s what
someone at Applevis has to say about it.

There are numerous places system-wide where the Misspelled Words item will be
in the VoiceOver rotor's Action menu where this functionality is not available
(examples include when viewing a web page in Safari and when reading an email
in Mail). In some of these it is the default position of the VoiceOver rotor,
which is a frustrating hit on the user experience - for example when opening a
webpage in Safari and expecting to be able to immediately flick down to
navigate by heading.

Someone else on this list reported that it also occurs in the NFB Newsline app
when trying to navigate through newspapers by heading. I can definitely verify
this, as I experienced it this morning.

Hi All,

Alan, I haven't notice your thread issue because I usually open a thread with a
one finger double tap and read through the messages that way. ⠠⠓⠪⠐⠑⠂ I know
what you mean when exiting from a message or for me it occurs on a thread of
messages. When I return to the ⠍⠑⠎⠎⠁⠛⠑ list there is random behavior. Sometimes
it does focus on the message or thread I have just closed, but at other times
the focus is at the top or somewhere else on the message list. (Sometimes I
whimsically wonder if it has something ⠞⠕ do with the way I am holding the
⠏⠓⠐⠕⠲ :)) It is annoying, and I need to report it also. I was hoping that 13.2
would fix it, but it hasn't.

The other weird thing that happens for me is that when I am reading through a
thread message by message, when I turn the rotor ⠞⠕ to go to the "messages"
setting I always have to pass through "misspelled words." I have looked all
over to try to get rid of the "misspelled words" in the rotor with no luck.
Neither "Messages" nor "misspelled words" appear in the rotor list, so I can't
change their order. I searched in settings for "misspelled words" and couldn't
find any reference to it. Am I missing something or is this is just a bug?

Thanks for any help!

Take care and have fun!

2019-11-01 Thread lange85
Hi Alan,

I’ve experienced similar issues with the native Mail app since IOS 13 came out.
I reported it to Apple Accessibility and they responded, saying that the
problem couldn’t be reproduced. I suspect that the guy who handled the
situation didn’t know what I was talking about and was basically clueless. I’ll
report it again, as reading mail can be a royal pain because of the focus
issues.

I also plan to report Braille display issues as well. I had thought that
Braille behavior had improved with 13.2, but there are still a number of issues
while using my Braille display, including VO crashing.

I suspect the other notes are stacked in the same note. This happened to me
recently where I was copying 4 separate news articles to the Notes app, and
when I went to find them only one existed. I then emailed them to myself and
examined them in MS Word and sure enough, all 4 were stacked in the same note.

Thx, Albert

Subject: copying from mail to notes

Hi all you iPhone experts,

I want to copy several email messages from the standard mail app on my iphone 8
to the notes app.
I started by opening one of the email messages, setting the rotor to edit and
flicking to select all and tapping.
At this point, a share menu appears and near the bottom of that menu is notes
which i single finger double tapped. it looks like the note is created and I
double tap on save which closes the notes app and puts me back on the email.
I repeated this process for the other two email messages Iwanted to copy, but
when I open the notes app at the end of all this, only the first email message
is in the notes list.

Is there something I am doing wrong, or is there a better way to do this?

Thanks,
Donald

Thanks in advance for your help.

Rotor Loses Focus in Newsline with 13.2

2019-11-01 Thread dani pagador
Hi, Everyone.
When I'm trying to read the paper in Newsline and 1fdt a button to get
in to a section to scroll through the articles, I can't get past the
first article. My rotor is set to headings before I do the 1fdt. But
when I get in to the section, it somehow switches to misspelled words.
I have to change it back to headings; if I still can't scroll, I have
to back out and go back in two or three times before I can flick
through to see what's available. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks,
Dani

What's That Game Called?

2019-11-01 Thread dani pagador
Hi, Everyone.
A few years back there was an audio game put out by the same people
who made the Type In Braille app. Does anyone know what it was called?

Thanks,

Suzie you should be able to go to pass code settings and uncheck any financial
items.

Re: need advice

2019-11-01 Thread Anna Dresner
Hi Antony,

You can go into Touch ID and Passcode and disable your passcode. If you do,
though, you won't be able to use Apple Pay, and the information on your phone
will be available to an-one who picks it up.

Best,
Anna

Let me try and answer this.
Any device, new or old, bought on or after 10 September 2019, will qualify for
a one year free trial of Apple Tv+. These devices include iPhone, iPad, iPod

Hope this helps.

Native Mail app focus issues under iOS 13.2

2019-11-01 Thread Alan Lemly
Hi List,

I think this subject might have been previously discussed so I apologize as
I only upgraded to iOS 13.x on Tuesday of this week.

I use the native Mail app for reading my Gmail account emails and I have it
set to display messages in threaded mode. I'm noticing that when focus is on
a message group with multiple messages, that when I single finger swipe down
and select expand to open the list of messages in the group that focus jumps
several screens up or down rather than leaving me at the top of the opened
list as it did in iOS 12.4.1. I get similar screen jumps and loss of focus
when I single finger swipe to contract the opened thread.

I'm also noticing that when I open a single email that isn't part of a
group, that focus isn't on it any longer when I go back to my message list
using either the back button or the scrub gesture.

This loss of focus makes reading emails on my iPhone 8 a royal pain and I'm
wondering if others are experiencing it. If there is a workaround, I'd love
to hear it or if this is a known issue, I'd love to know that too. I plan on
writing Apple Accessibility to report this but I wanted to check with this
list first before doing that.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Alan Lemly

Re: Dual sym card capability?

No, you do not need two seperate apps. The same phone app which is part of the
iPhone operating system will manage both numbers.

Re: Dual sym card capability?

2019-11-01 Thread Shermeen Khan
Thanks, all. I will investigate this and see what I find out. My
understanding is that you would essentially have two Phone apps, one
associated with each phone number you are using. I imagine it would be
similar with messages, and then all other apps would be as expected.
And yes, Sieghard is correct--VOIP is not an option for what I need,
especially as I'd like to keep my personal number, and work has
already assigned me a phone number.

Re: Apple TV Plus

2019-11-01 Thread Robin

Just Wonderin:
Is this 1Year FREE of Apple's Apple TV+ ONLY
For Devices: Like the iPhone11 & iPhone11PRO-iPhone11PRO MAX

or
Will "The Purchase" of older iPhones Qualify:
Like Apple's iPhone8-iPhone8+ & iPhoneXS etc etc

the payment area, but I'm sure Apple keeps track of newly activated
devices.

RE: What's in the box of the iPhone 11

2019-11-01 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
No, any wireless chargers you would have to buy yourself. Apple at one point
had announced a wireless charging pad which was supposed to charge I think 3
devices at once, an iPhone, an Apple Watch and Airpods, but it was never
released and I have heard nothing about it since.
You can buy wireless charging pads and stands on Amazon or from other
retailers, brand name ones like Mophie here in Canada can be around $50 or even
$80, Anker and many other lesser known brands can be had on Amazon for $20 to
$30 and they also seem to work just fine. You probably want to make sure it
supports Apple's 7.5 Watt fast charging standard and are, of course, MFI (made
for iPhone) certified, apart from that they all work well it seems.

Sieghard

Re: Apple TV Plus

2019-11-01 Thread Wayne Merritt
A related question: is there a way to view all Apple TV Plus shows
through the TV app? Whenever I have gone into the TV app lately, I
have seen a lot of shows from channels I am not subscribed to. I also
wish there were a way not to see those channel's shows, but I guess
they want to advertise their wares.

Re: Apple TV Plus

2019-11-01 Thread Gerardo Corripio
But will it ask you to have funds as backup to participate in the 7-day trial?
because if so, I wouldn't have funds to covr my iCloud subscription! You see
here in Mexico I load money through iTunes cards.

Re: Apple TV Plus

2019-11-01 Thread Devin Prater
It is available now. To get it, open the TV app, search for an Apple TV + show,
like “See” or “for all mankind”, and open that show’s page. There, choose to
try it free for seven days.

RE: For Joe who hates iTunes, Fwd: WALTR: Effortless iTunes Alternative for Windows & Mac | Softorino

2019-11-01 Thread Fanus Buys
Hello Arlene

Thanks very much for the info. The one final thing that I need before buying is
whether one can transfer music from pc to iphone?

Regards

with further reading documentation, imazing does work with ipods. However you
will need too install the apple drivers or you could install itunes and itunes
would install the drivers. If you're just going to install apple drivers this
is the apple packages you need to install:

apple applications support

aif you're running 64 bit operating system it would be

apple application support 64

apple mobile device 64

bonjur 64

Bonjur gives you the wifi support.

I think that's all you would need to install.

I do not quite understand you. An Apple iPod is an Apple device, so if Imazing
can transfer music from a pc to an iPhone the same would be true for an iPod.
Or do I totally misunderstand the whole concept of Imazing? So my question is
if one can transfer music from pc to iPhone or is it only possible to transfer
music from iPhone to pc?

Kind regards

We can't help you with working imze with an ipod since we've never had an ipod.
Hopefully someone has had experience with an ipod and imzing.

Hello Arlene

How does one copy music from PC to iPod using Imazing and where is the music
then stored on the iPod?

No you can't, and that's what we like about imazing.

No, you cannot purchase music, it is a program to transfer content to an Apple
device.

I have been using WLTR2 since 2017 and have had no problem with it.

Note there are two programs WLTR and WLTR2 the latter works fine in my
experience.

I know some people are highly critical and dismissive of alternatives to ITunes
but some people prefer to use these packages.

Good to know. Arlene, who is on this list I believe, mentioned having success

I've not tried either of these yet, but am going to see if Imazing has a free

People have recommended this program. I've never bought it, but you might want
to check it out.
