The Bose speakers not playing voice over when using IOS 13 is one
reason why I'm staying on 12.41.

Well, maybe you can ask if they are using Airplay.
When I was using an Airport Express device to play my iPhone over our stereo,
the voice stayed on the device, and the music, or book, played through the
speakers.

I know some of you guys like VO and system sounds coming through the phone’s

VO, because when a BT speaker is connected, you lose the ability to adjust VO
volume, my rotor’s already at 100 percent. And I don’t know, I just don’t feel

to be able to play my games or whatever through a BT speaker.
Anyway, those are my observations, take them as you will. :)

Hi I am interested in purchasing a smart tv.
Is there A particular make or model that would be accessible to someone with no

Feel free to email me off list with input.
Thanks.

Re: Help Setting Up MacBook Pro (MPXY2LL/A)?

2019-12-27 Thread Daniel MacDonald
Hello,

The command key is first on the left side of the space bar. The other button is
the Touch ID button. Not sure where that is, I’ve never seen a MacBook Pro with
the Touch Bar.
Hope this helps,
Daniel

Help Setting Up MacBook Pro (MPXY2LL/A)?

2019-12-27 Thread Fazil
Hi, list.

I have just received my refurbished MacBook Pro (MPXY2LL/A) and I am trying
to set it up.

I have plugged in the computer and it started talking right away. It asked
me first to select the Language and I selected English with up-down-arrows.

Then it told me if I needed VoiceOver, I can have it by pressing command key
and touching some sort of bar three times. I could not get the prompt
repeated, Could some one tell me where is the command key and what bar it is
talking about?

Let's ask this much for the time being and I would ask the rest later.

Thanks!

Re: Bluetooth earpiece that doesn’t go into the ear canal

2019-12-27 Thread Christopher Chaltain
There are the bone conduction options from Aftershokz, such as the Trekz
Titaniums. Since they use bone conduction they avoid the ear altogether.
They don't have the greatest sound quality, but they're good enough for
screen readers, books, podcasts and the like.

The Bose Frames have speakers built into the temple of the glasses which
project sound into the ear. Again, nothing goes in your ear. Sound
quality is surprisingly good, but they are on the expensive side and
don't have a great battery life.

Re: Bluetooth earpiece that doesn’t go into the ear canal

2019-12-27 Thread Richard Turner
Do you want a single ear or stereo?
For single ear, the Plantronix E50 kind of goes just in the edge of the ear,
but doesn't stick down in your ear as far as the Apple Airpods and it has an 11
hour battery and generally costs under $30.
I recently got the Logictech H800 headphones that are stereo over the ear
headphones that just sit on your ear and absolutely do not go in your ear at
all"
They have about 6 hours of battery life, and can be used with a computer via a
USB dongle and with any smart phone or tablet via bluetooth by moving a slide
switch between off, bluetooth, and the USB dongle.
They were $62 at Best Buy.

Apple Watch Questions

2019-12-27 Thread Ekstrand, Pamela A. -ND
Hi All,

I have a new Apple Watch 5th generation, and have a couple of questions.

First, is there a way to turn off the sounds or at least lower their volume
when you move around the watch face with voiceover?

Second, it seems that if I am doing something in an app on the watch such as
settings, and do not touch the watch face for just a few seconds, the watch
goes to sleep. Is there a way to make it stay awake longer without having to
touch the screen so often?

Thanks,
Pam

iPhone XR charging slowerthan usual

2019-12-27 Thread Anthony Vece
Hi everyone;
I noticed that when I charge my iPhone 10r Wirelessly it chargesslowerthan
usual.
I read something that suggested there might be a bug that was causing this to
happen.
Are there wireless chargers that are rated higher or lower and as a consequence
did they charge faster or slower?
Thank you in advance

Bluetooth earpiece that doesn’t go into the ear canal

2019-12-27 Thread Anthony Vece
Hi everyone;
As the subject line says is there a Bluetooth earpiece that does not go into
the ear canal?
I’m finding that my ears are getting more sensitive and when I put something in
my ear it bothers me.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you in advance.
Anthony

Re: don't update to the latest facebook ios app v251

2019-12-27 Thread Ed Worrell
It is true on my end. It seems the bug is different on different devices.

I have not had any issues in the most recent section of the tab.

Don’t go making assumptions. I was gibing a fix that works for my device.

Maybe your statement is false.

If the hearing-aid accessibility shortcut is present, one mut choose
between which triple-click-HOME function one wants to use. To turn VO
off is easy enough, but not so to turn it back on again. Hence, I have
removed that shortcut, so now my triple-click-HOME only turns off VO and
shows no dialog about it.

I just did this. I went to my account, and found where it says subscriptions.
You double tap that. Then you should be able to find them all listed and how
much you paid for it. There is a cancel subscription. You double tap on cancel
subscription. It was toward the right on the iPhone. You don't have to tap on
your name. I am using the latest update of the iPhone and my iPhone is a 6S

Managing Subscriptions on iPhone Question Please.

2019-12-27 Thread janet gross
Hi All,
I accidentally downloaded the wrong app last night, as I was trying to download
the voice dream Reader app. Can someone please tell me how I can cancel this
download-subscription? I went in to the app Store app, the update tab, my
account, I tapped my account, and went down to manage subscriptions, as I
usually did when I wanted to cancel a subscription, but now, I don't find the
option to manage subscriptions, and if I tap on my Apple id, I get a message
saying I need to enter my password. So, I tried to enter it a few times, I
then got a message saying wrong password. So after trying to enter the
password, now, I get a message asking me if I want to reset my password. I
really don't want to go through all that just to cancel a subscription, but I
have only until Dec 29-19, or I will have to pay 139.99.
I'm using iPhone xr with iOS 12.4.1.

Thank you all for any help in this.
Janet

Peace Be With You.

seconds or so, the program closes itselves and you are brought back to the
 home screen.
Please do test this. I’ve already restarted my phone but not yet deleted

Re: iPhone latest update

2019-12-27 Thread Jennie Facer
What I think has happened is there are more than one apps selected for the
accessibility shortcut. In order to have VoiceOver turn on and off with the
triple tap, you must have voiceover selected only. Go to settings,
accessibility and then the the shortcut. Make sure that it says voceiOver is
selected only.

Steve:

I am not sure I understand your question. A triple tap on the home button
will turn voice over off and will announce that voice over is off. Then
another triple tap of the home button will turn voice over on again and it
will announce voice over is on.

Getting asked for my Apple password

2019-12-27 Thread karl Smith
Periodically when I start an app on my iPhone I am asked to enter my Apple
password. I can skip passed it and hit cancel and go on but I don't know why
it comes up. If I enter the password it is accepted and I don't get asked
again for a while. Why is this? Thanks.

2019-12-27 Thread Ed Worrell
Hello All,

I too am seeing this issue. I have found if you go to the Facebook menu tab in
the bottom right hand corner and read your newsfeed in the “Most Recent” view
the app no longer crashes, but if you try and go back to the newsfeed tab in
the bottom left corner the app promptly crashes back to the home screen.

I hope this helps.

Yes, but that's only half the issue. The other half is turning VO back
on. A triple-tap of the HOME button brings up the same dialog, and since
VO isn't on, what does one do then?
