Go into Sounds and Haptics and ring. I set mine to 90%, wear hearing aids,
but I can hear who's calling me now. I'll never know how it got down to 40%
recently, but it did. Now I know what to do to fix it.

RE: correcting a text mesage on the watch

2020-07-09 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Terry,

When sending the text from the watch you either get a don't send if it's a new
message which is a button at the right hand end of the display,

If you are replying to a text then you should get a cancel and send buttons at
the left end of the display,

The cancel and the don't send will allow you to re do your text if you need to
correct them before sending.

Subject: correcting a text mesage on the watch

Hello everyone,

Is it possible to correct a text message, when sending it from the watch?

If so, what would I need to do?

I like to read, and dictate texts from my watch. It seems easier to dictate a
text from the watch. I don't know how true this really is. But it seems to work
better for me, most of the time.

However, it does mess up at times. So this is why I was wondering if I could
possibly correct the messages. It sure would be nice to be able to do this.

Thank you,

Terri

Hi Joshua,
Did you write them to ask if they plan to add options?
You get 30% discount as a member, much like with Audible.
I'm not sure what you were expecting other than $15 per credit/book.

Oh, do I ever feel for you ding a reset. I am just leaving my emails without
getting notifications, since Apple Accessibility, lists, and I have been unable
to make me get notifications or even show on the icon whether or not I have
them. I'd rather just check than go through a reset.

All:

I have an iPhone 7 on Verizon.

Everything the Apple Accessibility and I tried didn't fix this issue. I had to
do a hard reset which fixed the issue.

Now I'm just pulling my hair out trying to get all the settings How I want
them. This is a royal pain but doable.

RE: Problem with Siri and Sending Messages

2020-07-09 Thread Vivian Conger
All:

I have an iPhone 7 on Verizon.

Everything the Apple Accessibility and I tried didn't fix this issue. I had to
do a hard reset which fixed the issue.

Now I'm just pulling my hair out trying to get all the settings
How I want them. This is a royal pain but doable.

Re: An alternative to Audible for future purchases

2020-07-09 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
Well, I'm going to cancel my membership. The app is really cool. I'd
love more then one book per month, and that is your only credit option
if you don't want to gift yourself credits. That would cost $15 per
credit, and that can add up very fast. I hope you all enjoy the app.
It really is one of the best audio players I've seen. I like it
almost as well as voice dream reader.

I just wanted to say, that I have gotten the one credit plan for libro.fm.
They have really good email support. Also, the app is very accessible and is
so easy to use. Once you purchase your book, you download the app to your
phone and login with your user name and password you have created. Then, on
your computer when you go into your library, you will find an option to downlad
a zip file of your book. You can also download the book in your app and listen
to it that way. That is a very easy process. The player has very easy labeled
buttons. Try it and I think you will like it.

There is a setting under settings, sounds for your ring tone volume,
It’s before you get to the tones themselves,

It allows you to flick up to increase and or down to reduce volume levels.

There is also an off on toggle for using the volume controls to increase /
decrease the ring tone volume so you can do it as you feel you need to

Go to settings, sounds, find the sound you have for your phone ring and double
tap to play and set volume while it is playing.

Re: An alternative to Audible for future purchases

2020-07-09 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
I just wanted to say, that I have gotten the one credit plan for
libro.fm. They have really good email support. Also, the app is very
accessible and is so easy to use. Once you purchase your book, you
download the app to your phone and login with your user name and
password you have created. Then, on your computer when you go into
your library, you will find an option to downlad a zip file of your
book. You can also download the book in your app and listen to it
that way. That is a very easy process. The player has very easy
labeled buttons. Try it and I think you will like it.

my phone as well but no fix. I spoke to my friend and discovered she was having

An alternative to Audible for future purchases

2020-07-09 Thread Richard Turner
sGreetings,
Since Audible has been discussed a lot lately, I wanted to mention an
alternative resource that I am seriously considering.
It is called Libro.fm.
They seem to have everything Audible has, minus the audible originals of
course, at roughly the same price; but you can pick a local bookstore to
support and they get half of the money. They have a membership that gets you
one book a month for $14.99 per month, first book free.
They are non-DRM books, so can be played on any player.
I've not started my membership yet because the first book I want to try is not
available yet do to the pandemic. The reader hasn't been able to go into the
studio to record the book, Riviera Gold, by Laurie R. King. The 16th book in
the Mary Russell, Sherlock Holmes series.

Finding the search area of their web site is tricky and I have given them
feedback about the accessibility, and they always respond quickly; but getting
their web designer to make changes may take longer.
Since I have not actually started my membership, I cannot speak to how easy it
is to get the books either in their app, or as I would likely due, into Voice
Dream Reader.

I've pasted the info about membership below if anyone wants to take the plunge.

Linda,

No improvement here either so calling Apple will happen today. This isn’t the

Hi Vivian

I know this doesn't help but interesting to see someone else having exactly the
same problem. I thought it was just my phone so didn't call apple. I have
tried the reset but no improvement.

Hi,

I know this has been covered on the list some time back but as I didn’t have
any issues until yesterday, I read the messages but didn’t commit the fix to my
memory.

When I press the Home button and ask Siri to send a message to anyone, she says
sorry there is a problem. Try later. When I ask Siri other things like the
temperature or time or whatever there is no issue.

This is different than what happens sometimes when a connection cannot be made
even though I have 2 out of 4 bars for cell and 3 out of 3 bars for my wifi.

I have turned Siri off and back on twice in Settings and rebooted my phone.
Still the problem occurs.

I am using an iPhone 7 with IOS 13.5.1.

The only other thing I can think of is to try a soft reset but can’t remember
how that is done. Or will this need a hard reset through Settings?

Many thanks for any suggestions.

RE: Problem with Siri and Sending Messages

2020-07-09 Thread karl Smith
Hello Folks,

I started having the same problem with serie and messages yesterday. I rebooted
my phone as well but no fix. I spoke to my friend and discovered she was having
the same problem. I just tried it and it seems to be working now.

Re: How Can You Tell If You're Using Wi-Fi Rather Than Data?

2020-07-09 Thread Dave Clement
Hi,

One simple way is to turn off the cell data option via
Settings / Cell Data

Then try whichever app you are interested in using. With "cell data" turned off
you will only be able to get data from the internet if your WIFI is active.

You can also check the status line for the WIFI signal strength which is just
to the left of the time value. IOS will always choose to use WIFI if it is
available.

You might also want to check the WIFI Assist option in the "cell data" option
in Settings. If this option is turned on then IOS will try to use cell data
when your WIFI signal is very weak or inconsistant. If you have a weak WIFI
service, this option can end up consuming some of your cell data allowance to
retrieve data. from the internet.

Good luck,
